I grew up in a place where the local radio stations played both kinds of music. Country and western. So I know Loretta's catalog pretty well. I've seen her a couple of times at the State Fair, but I was there to see other artists. It's not like I disliked her music as much as it was overplayed so much, you'd get tired of anything played that much. The themes are pretty generic, but it's country so you got momma, prison, trains, pickups, God, dogs, cheating husbands, getting drunk, flirting and tight pants. I bought a car cassette deck and a home stereo cassette deck so I could record my own LPs and get away from lousy radio. But you can't deny that Loretta is a big fat spoke in the wheel of classic country music, even if it bores the hell out of you.
