Elon isn't here. It isn't a launch release or anything. Just 1 of 8 Cybertrucks in America are on display in my city.

You know, folks, I gotta tell you, women absolutely love the Cybertruck. It's incredible, really. I've heard from so many tremendous women who say, "Seth, this Cybertruck is fantastic, it's like nothing we've ever seen before." Believe me, it's a winner.

Thanks for the warning - I look forward to them abandoning their full-size GM SUVs (most frequently a black GMC Yukon Denali, judging from the gym parking lot) in favor of these things. Giving the pricing and every-four-years rotation into a new vehicle, this will probably drive a significant portion of the Cybertruck's volume.

KHC has no loyalty to the people who have been buying their products for a lifetime. Rather than pass along some sort of price stabilization the company is repurchasing it's stock.
As you go through the grocery store and notice the high prices on items, make a mental note to avoid these products.

The Kraft Heinz board of directors has approved up to $3 billion in a share repurchase program, the ketchup-maker announced on Monday.

Fuck John Kerry while doing it too.

This is a pretty normal way to increase stock value. So capitalism is now bad?

I have no love for JFK or his stupid brand. Gun owners shouldn't be buying their crap regardless.

Do you have to-date delivery numbers on those?

Fuck electric vehicles because the battery components are a gold mine for the western world's biggest enemy- Chy-nuh.

Fossil fuels for motor vehicles. PERIOD.

Can someone please gently tell MD where many/most of the parts for his ICE vehicles were sourced? :ROFLMAO: And that doesn't even consider where the money for those fossil fuels goes (before anyone gets too clever with their "domestic drilling" comeback, go back to Econ 101 and consider that petroleum is largely a fungible commodity).

The fact of the matter is that due to the influence of a significant number of our tax dollars, EVs are likely to be more "American" than contemporary ICEs. I'd have rather seen that money used differently (maybe drop a few grand on the hood of any vehicle sourced with 90%+ domestic parts), but clearly that opinion is not currently being considered by our government and corporate overlords.

There are many threads on the Hide where simplistic mouth-breathing is effective. This ain't one of them.

And yet even as the dollar drops, we're seeing a rather dramatic drop in bond rates. So much for a "rational market".

"Dr. Doom" weighs in:

Good news for GM investors - the company is going to buy back $10 billion of its own stock and spend another $150 million/year in dividends:

The stock is up over 9% today! Unfortunately, that reflects an increase of only $4 billion in the company's market cap :ROFLMAO: So much for that tactic.

The Governments newest "Battery Salesperson". One more failing company that needs an infusion of government money to stay afloat.

BESSEMER CITY, North Carolina Nov 30 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen traveled to North Carolina on Thursday to tout hundreds of billions of dollars in clean energy investments enabled by federal tax incentives as President Joe Biden struggles to win credit among voters for his economic record.
Yellen toured a Livent (LTHM.N) facility in Bessemer City, North Carolina, that processes lithium hydroxide, a key ingredient in electric vehicle (EV) batteries. The plant near Charlotte is doubling its capacity due to increased demand for EVs spurred by consumer tax credits of up to $7,500 in the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), adding cutting edge technology to an area hard hit when legacy industries like textiles left for other countries.
Yellen, who spoke in front of one-ton bags of lithium hydroxide at a Livent warehouse, said the "battery belt" arising across the U.S. Midwest and South showed the administration's strategy is working and contributing to current low rates of unemployment and ongoing economic growth.
"Scaling up our domestic manufacturing capacity - particularly in new industries - can help create well-paying, middle-class jobs for Americans across the country, serving people and places that have too often been left behind," Yellen said.

I like Elon Musk. But electric vehicles are not prime time, and hopefully never will be as long as C**** controls so much of the world's battery chemistry.

The only chemistry that China "controls" is LFP, and that was actually invented and first commercialized right here in the US. We kinda suck at this stuff.

I recall telling a buddy sometime in 2011 that he should put some money in A123 instead of Tesla. Do not take investment advice from me.

None of this (other than the largely-irrelevant 0-60 time for the "Cyberbeast") seems very impressive relative to the competition. But congratulations on building 10 examples with reasonably straight body panels. I'm quite curious to see what the average customer can expect from actual mass-production vehicles..

I'm also interested to hear field reports on the range, especially when towing anything close to the claimed maximum capacity. Considering the frontal area of a trailer with that mass, it would not be surprising to hear that it's 50-60 miles. And that brings us to the "range extender". Considering that it likely requires equipment to move in/out of the bed and I don't see this demographic as the sort that has a Kubota w/ forks in the polebarn, this strikes me as a almost theoretical response to initial marketing claims more than it does a compelling product feature. Also $16,000 LOL.

I haven't been on X in a while - are Gary Black, Ross Gerber, et al still getting the vapors over the prospect of delivering a meaningful number of these things in 2023, or have they moved on to Model 2 as their favorite "catalyst"?

I love the F-150 design but would easily opt for a Cybertruck. As is, most people drive their trucks without a load. That would be me 99% of the time, maybe if I am lucky I'll have a deer or better in the bed. Given how well the Tesla Semi has performed in the real world, I have high hopes for the Cybertruck vs. the real results of other EV trucks.

I don't follow Gary or Ross but I do see them pop up from time to time. I honestly think Ross blocked me.

The ramp-up period is going to be slow. Either way, we will finally start to see the impact of the Cybertruck on the financial's top and bottom lines.

The market has been aware of the event for some time now. The rally has been over the last month +.

Already deleted my daily "WallStreet Breakfast" but it reported 1.7% Tesla drop at Cybertruck reveal followed by another 2% drop later.

Market was so impressed that Tesla stock dropped

The "buy the rumor, sell the news" cycle on this thing has been four years in the making. Exhausting. But now we can get back to pimping for a share buy-back and talking about all the factories not getting built to support future demand.

Tesla nailed most of the specs reported back in 2019. Inflation between 11/19 and 11/23 was 20% and pricing for standard and dual are very close once adjusted. Cyberbeast makes the most sense to be priced as high as $97k vs. the original $84k. I am excited to see what the margins are on these trucks.

Tesla is flat for the day. I guess the truck was welcomed by investors as that is the indicator these days or something.

The "Index Funds" are always a buzz phrase on how they beat the individual stocks and they are so easy to play.
I see them as false hope since they are always churning the stocks in an effort to bring the share price up.
That tactic is not maintainable when the entire market falls..
Here is the most recent added and taken away.

Uber shares rose 5% in extended trading on Friday after the ride-hailing company was added to the S&P 500 Index, replacing Sealed Air Corp.
The change will take place prior to the open of trading on Monday, Dec. 18, according to a press release.
A company’s stock price often rises on news that it’s joining the S&P 500 because fund managers who track the benchmark, which gets updated each quarter, have to acquire the shares. Companies also have to meet certain valuation and profitability requirements.

Wallstreet Breakfast: Traders did not seem so impressed with the Cybertruck launch event at Tesla's (TSLA) Gigafactory in Austin. Shares fell 1.7% during the regular session on Thursday and dropped another 2.1% AH, with the electric pickup needing to prove itself before getting a final round of applause. Starting prices of the futuristic vehicle will start at $60,990, more than 50% higher than quoted when it was first unveiled in 2019. The base edition will also only be available in 2025, while many of the touted specs like 0-60 in 2.6 seconds, 130 MPH top speed, and beastly torque and horsepower, will only be offered on its most high-end variant known as the "Cyberbeast." Range also fell short of the originally promised 500 miles and would only reach close to there via a range extender that takes up a third of the truck bed.
