Ok.
I have presbyopia and would like to hear from others that also have the problem AND have tried or own FFP scopes.

Currently, i own SFP Leupold VX-6 3-18x50mm with a side focus.
The ocular (eyepiece) focus, which EVERY scope has, allows me to focus the reticle.
The side focus (parallex adjustment) allows me to focus the target down range.
Effectively, this combination completely corrects my presbyopia problem.

However, I have some interest in purchasing a LPVO (currently looking at the Primary Arms 1-8x24mm compact SLx).
I have not found ANY LPVOs with a side focus due to the fact parallax isnt an issue typically below 10x mag.

So, here is my question is this for those with presbyopia and a FFP experience LPVO:

Will the ocular focus on a FFP correct BOTH the reticle AND the target due to the reticle different physical location inside the scope which allows for equal magnification of the reticle and target?

Also, are there ANY LPVOs out there with a side focus out there?

Thanks

I have the same vision issue. I have a Leupold Mk6 1-6x and previously had a NF ATACR 1-8x, both FFP and non-side focus. I had no issue seeing down range through the scope (the Mk6 is one of my favorite LPVOs). The fixed parallax is going to have a small impact at distance regardless.

I just ordered a SIG SAUER Tango-MSR FFP 1-10x26mm, 34mm Tube. It looked decent spec wise, and was okay in price. I am old-ish, and vision is not what it used to be. If it is of any interest I'll report on it when I receive it. Assuming I stick with the plan, it will go on a URG-I upper which I have in hand.

Delta 1-10x28 FFP

March 1-10x24 DFP

March 1-10x24 SFP

March 1-8x24 (I think this was FFP. Possibly discontinued, not sure if they'd build one)

Styrka 1-6x24. SFP & duplex reticle. Probably not what you're looking for. I shoot indoors with airguns using these.

March, Athlon & White Oak Armament all make 1-4.5x24 Service Rifle scopes with side focus.

I can't think of any others.

I should have been more clear. The SIG Tangos (like the one I ordered) all look like they have side focus plus diopter adjust. Some are FFP, some are SFP. Other SIG scopes as well. I run into more brands with side focus than without.

I think, but am not absolutely positive, that just the eyepiece diopter focus is the only adjustment that is relevant to a person’s eyesight variation.

But I am nearsighted and not farsighted.

The parallax or image focus adjustment in a LPVO just isn’t critical for the type of shooting they are designed for.

So the desire for a focus knob on an LVPO (or any scope) shouldn’t be linked to near/far-sightedness, is what I’m saying.

I imagine @koshkin would know, definitely.

Another to add to your list of possible candidates. Valdada LTS-2 1-10x26 35mm tube. I have a couple of IOR Valdada scopes, nice glass, decent overall quality. This is more pricey than the SIG, but still half as much as the S&B CC (which I hope to own in a few months).

Correct. Side focus does not do anything for accomodating eye irregularities.
