They could do what the Old Man of my ship did years after I got out of the Navy.
He was stationed in Brussels Belgium at the time , when I think the USS Independence was anchored out when they had a medical emergency, their CO had burst his appendix and had to be medevaced to a hospital.
My X Old Man was the only Carrier Qualified Captain in Europe so they sent him to take the ship out of the Med. When the time came to leave he ordered that the anchor be lifted….Unknown to him , the anchor snagged a undersea cable and cut power and coms to quite a few countries 😳
I mean , it wasn’t HIS fault per se, but he was the CO offically. 🥴 Between this incident , and him losing control of my ship during a riot in 1972. …he never made Admiral.🙁 All the other CO’s when I was aboard got their Star.⭐️
