Umm, no disrespect to you Mwalex, I know you didn't make the comment.......

With most digital cameras these days, I think the majority of them are set to "automatic" by their owners. I don't think it would be unusual at all for the camera to set itself to 1/8,000. It was a sunny day and the background was bright/blue sky. And, I suspect that the capture of the bullet in flight was simply coincidence.

I'm seeing more and more posts on various websites that really stretch the boundaries of legitimacy. OTOH, like many other things, we'll never know the full story, only what the alphabeti/msm want us to know.

@Lawless don't you have lots of experience with cameras?

Camera capable of ISO 50- 102400 in stills mode. F1.6 capable lens. 1/8000 shutter (known).

Exposure calculator shows these fit the sunny 16 rule.
F1.6, ISO 64, 1/8000
F1.8, ISO 80, 1/8000
F2.0, ISO 100, 1/8000

If the camera was set to aperture priority mode with a low f number or set to ISO priority with a low ISO number (meaning low noise), then the 1/8000 makes sense. Taking pics at 30 fps isn't too outlandish either. I've taken series of my dog or a flapping flag easily in high continuous mode (quite common preset with sports mode). My camera (Canon eos 90d) does 10fps.

Btw the camera being used is a beast. Nerdy in depth review showing capabilities here. https://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Sony-a1.aspx

I appreciate the input and information

From Tarundot by Puccini and absolutely beautiful music. Fortunate see it several years ago at the Santa Fe Opera.
Two must hear renditions of this classic masterpiece are by Pavarotti
and Jeff Beck.

Both giants of music have left this world but not our souls and hearts.
