The AX308 has a decent number of rounds through it. Hopefully the AT-X will break in.

The AX308 has a replacement SFP bolt (replaced in 2017) but the LFP bolt it came with feels similar.

With an entire action redesign they should have gone to a medium length action to accommodate the short mag guys, stretch a few specs by a quarter inch. $7k or so would seem like a steal for a factory 7saum or 6.5prc VS having to step up to an AXSR for $11k. I bet they would sell a ton of them.

Unless there’s a tender I doubt AI would cater to the market like that.

Do they have issues? I’m building a 300 WSM on my AT currently. My 260 has a lot of room left running 142 smk .010 off the lands in these mags. I’m thinking it will run a wsm just fine

The AW mag is 2.98” long inside. So theoretically it should feed a 300 wsm without going crazy in length.

Maybe it will be a single shot. We shall see

I'm shooting 7-6.5prcw in 2 different barrels in my ATX. 180 hybrids and 168 vlds are stuffed way below neck/shoulder to fit in a mag. 180s at mag length limit powder. I single load 180s in one of the barrels and it absolutely hammers but I can't get those results mag-fed. The other barrel is a short carbon barrel shooting 168's at mag length and I'm not giving up too much, a little velocity and maybe some accuracy seating into the shoulder but its not the bullet I was hoping to shoot. Short answer is, short mags work, but you're NOT gonna mag feed and get the same results you could from a longer action. Single loaded 180's below.

Also, the AW mags won't hold WSM rounds reliably. They'll vomit all the remaining rounds out the top after extracting a round in my experience. Maybe you could work the feed lips but IDK. MDT WSM/PRC mags work excellent in my ATX.

I'm sure you'll be fine. If you wanted to shoot 215's or similar you'd be leaving a lot on the table at mag length.

I’m shooting deer with it. Plan is to 1200 or so. Realistically 700-800 most of the time

I run them 2600 out of my 308 currently. Hoping to get to 3000 or so. Probably a 24-26” tube

The bolt lugs have nothing to do with the cocking geometry, but with that changed the entire bolt assembly will be different. Whether you can buy an AT-XC bolt assembly and drop it in a previous rifle probably only AI knows at this point until someone has both and try’s it.

The AT-XC bolt is not backward compatible with previous generation actions.

We have done "RRS-Lock" for specific customers. As for making it a production feature we are on the fence about it. Once the pin falls out of your RRS-Lock clamp, and it will, it's a useless feature that collects dirt and debris and raises the cost of manufacturing.

Glad I'm not the only one this has happened to... I have lost that stupid pin 3 times now. I get home after a match and start looking over my gear and would ya look at that my rrs lock pin is gone again....

I've taken the locking mechanism out of every rlok head or bipod clamp I own. Just run enough tension it down slide.

If you can't tie a knot, tie a lot. Those are bowline knots BTW. Just couldn't get it to stay at the end of the round ball so I used electrical tape to the loop.

The pallet-crates are already too full of "definitely not ATX hinges" to accommodate upgrades that make the worlds most reliable sniper rifle more reliable.

All 4 my atx rifles/chassis already hinged up, I just want relaible feeding from cases shorter than 2.85"

Yup. That's why I said "2 weeks" in jest before.

Never buy something from AI with the expectation that what they say they will release for it will actually be released because it may never happen.

If someone wants a magnum short action bolt face then either plan on having to have a spare bolt opened up by a gunsmith or buy something else.

Zuess is opposite lug orientation VS AI or CDG action. You may know this but the Zuess is fair bit more finicky with aw mags with 12 4 and 8 o'clock lug orientation, VS AI 2, 6, 10.

Zuess is opposite lug orientation VS AI or CDG action. You may know this but the Zuess is fair bit more finicky with aw mags with 12 4 and 8 o'clock lug orientation, VS AI 2, 6, 10.

I could be wrong but these pics look like the AT-XC will have the AXSR grip angle (which I for one prefer). Maybe is AT-XC Gen 2? It was previously done on the CBP rifles. My apologies if this has already been discussed at nauseam...

AT-XC (eurooptic), all of their AT-XC pics are like this. Their unboxing video shows the "normal" at-x grip.

Looks like possibly a different grip is used the beavertail of the grip looks like it lands in the same spot on both rifles.

I asked about this when the CBP rifle came out and was told it's the nature of the photoshoping they did for the press release photo since that rifle in that configuration did not exist at the time. If you look at the CBP rifle you posted it's a lot easier to see the interface between the grip and chassis doesn't look smooth and natural.

it's insane that the AT-X Mil and the Border Patrol guns aren't available for sale to civilians. I'd take either... or both.... but this is a company that nuked their patterns for the AW, both the action/chassis and the skins.... AI just doesn't make sense to me.

The grip angle thing is interesting... I much prefer the grip angle on my AXSR over the AT-X with the same Ergo grip.

They only need one model of AT. Green with thumbhole stock. Similar to the old AW. There’s still a decent crowd that’s into the old school AI’s vs the new stuff

In 2014, Tom Irwin mentioned that they were planning for an AT in .300 Winchester Magnum - however without the needed options to swap calibers.

I mentioned this as a possible project for Accuracy Obsession (they were working on short action / AT chassis option then) using the AXMC (can't remember the model acronyms that well any more) platform - but he didn't think there was any point.
