Back in Virginia for a short trip…shot the A6 today…slowly coming together….3 shot groups at 100yrd with the A6.
Early big hook A3 project finally complete. Was able to track down the unertl ARD and an OG black Eagle Industries HSRC to top the kit off
I love the USMC shooting jacket and great rifles. I should have had GA precision build an A6 when we could …I thought the chassis price was crazy then. I’m still kicking myself. Great pictures

I recently acquired some interesting take-off parts (not all the parts are photographed here). I'm thinking about keeping the very unique USMC receiver and using it for a different build, and then selling the used A5 parts kit. But, everything here would go together nicely for a legit A5 build. Decisions decisions.......

Cleaned the barrel & switched from 175 FGMM to try some 168 T308T so the clean cold bore is on there too, but she loves those 168s
This was 3 at 300 on the old steel plate, plate was still swinging on the 2nd round so that probably threw the vertical off a bit but I'll take it especially just holding over with the old Accu Range reticle

I figure that this might be the best place to ask, but what are the B-634 Simrad caps currently selling for? I have an extra one that I'm thinking about selling, and a buddy said that they're very rare (he's seen maybe 1 or 2 sell publicly in the past 5 to 10 years). I have a few of these B-634 Simrad caps, and I'm comfortable to moving one if it helps someone out with their clone build. I just have no idea what the current price on them is. Any help is appreciated, thank you!

I purchased one of the B-634 marked SIMRAD caps about 10 years ago thru ebay, seller posts here occasionally, always has legit gear....I paid about $350 delivered. I thought I got a bargain at the time.....best I can tell these were actually sold by SPA Defense to military or with a device. As to current market value, only way to determine market value is auction on the large platforms. The challenge with this rare component is that most collectors I encounter think the Badger produced version is the only correct part for an a5.
Here's more photos of the Simrad caps, this time it's only the caps. I don't think that there's ever been a direct comparison photo of just the USMC used M40xx Simrad caps with the loose caps side-by-side. So, save these photos, they're important!

Underside of the 34mm SPA Simrad cap for use on the M40A3/5 sniper rifles with the S&B M8541 SSDS scope. The owner of Badger Ordnance once told me that the "B-634" marking on this SPA Simrad cap stood for "Badger Ordnance, 6 screw, 34mm." However, I think that the "634" could stand for "6 screw 34mm," but I doubt that the "B" stands for "Badger Ordnance." SPA also marked other items with a "B" prefix in the 1990's (I can prove this with items in my collection), so the "B" in this marking is the continuation of what they had previously done, as opposed to being an insult to Badger Ordnance. Regardless of what the number/letters may or may not stand for, these are essentially just the model number that SPA chose for those items. Nothing more, nothing less, they're the model number for that item.

That's really awesome, thank you very much for posting it! I'd love to know more about it and where it came from. Is it also marked B-634 on the inside? Or just the exterior marking? It appears that a "B" prefix on any type of Simrad cap means that it was made by SPA. There's more information related to this marking trend from SPA, and I'll make a separate post with that information in the future (research is on-going, it's not ready to publish yet). That's an amazing piece of history, please post some more photos of it if you can!

I have several 34mm SIMRAD caps, and I’m pretty sure one has B-634 on it, but this is the only one currently with me. There are no exterior markings, but it is shaped differently than my other two and is somewhat purple in color. Always found the differences in this stuff interesting.

Hello everyone. I know I’m starting about 10 years too late to clone build an M40A5…..I was wondering who is everyone recommending lately to complete the build?
I’m just waiting on my barrel, which was just shipped last Friday from Schneider. Otherwise I have all the parts needed for someone to build it out.

I highly recommend GA Precision for your build. They built a M40A1 and a M40A5 for me and they did an outstanding job (see #649 in this thread for photos of them). Happy to chat directly about my experience with them. I'm sure others here will also provide their recommendations for builders as well.

I'd have to take the ring off the scope to see if there is anything under the cap. I can't remember if there is anything under there.
I'd say it is a very A5 cap since the Badger 34mm rings are # 0071. It appears that the cap has been with the rings for a very long time based on the wear and appearance of all 4 pieces of the rings/cap.

Unfortunately, now that Raven is done with rifle building, there's not really a good gunsmith for perfect M40xx builds. However, that might change in the near future.......

Looks great well done!! I'm trying to build out my deployment kit for my A5 as well. What is the White Spiral bound book in your picture, is that the TM 05539-OR operators manual? For the life of me I can't find a 50SBC-ARD or the operators manual, where did you snag those?

Seen these at the range today…B-630 and some m40a1 Simrad variations…
Unfortunately, the SF FA762SS silencers have gotten stupidly expensive! There aren't any on Gunbroker right now, and when they do pop up they're usually $4,000+ for a silencer (more if it has the NSN). Your best bet with acquiring one of these rare silencers is to set-up a saved search on Gunbroker and just paying whatever ridiculous price the seller is asking.
Maybe we can all work together on a group buy with a SureFire dealer to see if they can order 100+ of these FA762SS silencers (with NSN) for collectors/cloners. It would have ro be a large number of silencers in the dealer's group buy for SureFire to even consider doing a custom run of the silencers, but it has happened in the past. The question is if they even want to do this for us and if they still have the correct tooling to make this specific silencer. If anyone here knows a big SureFire dealer and can convince them to set-up an FA762SS silencer group buy, then we might get extremely lucky if SureFire approves it! This is our best bet for in-stock $2k FA762SS with NSN silencers, and it's something that we (as a large collector/cloner group) should be working towards.
I really hope that you can find one of the correct silencers for your great M40A5 clone, good luck with the hunt!
Surefire re-tooled their factory and they are no longer welded like they did. Physically they could make new suppressors that fit the old adapters but I doubt they will
@USMCSGT0331 Your front 30mm to 1” ring reducers are placed upside down. Thrash yourself until this grievance fixes itself.
Y’all would have better luck betting on the sun not coming up tomorrow before Surefire does another run of those cans. It will never happen. It’s simply a pay to play game now.
