Can this kind of shit be tried and dealt with federally? POS came into this country from the southern border and ended up in NYC to commit murder. That is crossing state lines involved. A federal warrant plus a detachment of US Marshals sent to NYC and I want to see the NYCDOC try to fight against that. Anything armed robbery and up committed by illegals need to be fasttracked right to fed pen, then to that little hallway right outside of a small white or green room with a gurney inside.

The issue with the high interest rates, whilst great for the individual that saved their money, is that business HAS to borrow money to expand (generally).
Also, back in those days there was not JIT parts delivery so people had to stock things (and here I'm thinking heavy industrial stuff like transformers, large diameter rigid pipe, 250/500 MCM and the like cable; large diameter plumbing lines, chillers, etc. ) which caused a lot if issues. Businesses couldn't borrow at that rate (22% prime) and and expect to stay in business. So large expansions were largely out of the question for many businesses; so all of a sudden people holding inventory got cooked as the general business model back then was somewhat on-the-come.
This model was supported by the banks themselves at the time...few foreseeing the massive economic shutdown and bankruptcies that followed. very quickly.
Had the "Fed" just let captalism work, and not messed with the interest rate, the interest rate would have naturally corrected itself. Hence, why historically interest has seemed to "work best" when prime is around 7%. That also keeps the riff-raff out of the market who cannot qualify (something we once again have seemed to forgotten...the number of people who operate consistently in debt due to lack of consequence).
