Accuracy International Picture Thread

I see what you did there 😄

Shattered ego here, too. Big sad.

Guys that think they can talk down on or be disrespectful to people because their rifle is more expensive are sad.

Ain’t nothing soft about getting sick of the childish bullshit in here. Some of us have been here the entire time before this was the main theme of AI threads and before the hide was on this server and first hand seen the evolution of soft.
I don’t think people are seriously putting others down just because they bought an expensive gun. It also seems like most people here actually shoot their AIs. I know I do. People post non AI guns in an AI gun thread (despite aics threads existing), so playful ribbing ensues.

But I would buy one for my kids and not the other.

So

Different

They need to update again with a ATx or AXSA style stock

Okay, in all honesty I do have a Cricket .22LR for my girls to learn on.

There is some cheap plastic on that rifle. Even your firing pin/cooking assembly.

Will it work? Sure. Mine has. And if you want to get the kids out on something "like dad's", then probably not a bad deal. An heirloom it is not however.

I get what you mean, I get the jokes and you highly likely get what I’m getting at. We’ve heard the ‘hahaha you’re poor joke’ for years.

Don’t you think it’s time it’s not the main theme of AI threads?

Because it’s only really AI threads that this happens in. Same thing happens with Staccato in the handgun world, which is also amusing.

We are here for AI’s yes. This running joke would unanimously win the beating a dead horse on the Hide title.

Ohhhhhhhh

I wanted to shoutout Jason Dellinger and Performance Weapons Systems at shootpws.com

He modified my .300 win magazines for my AXSR and I shot 20 .300PRC rounds without issue. Looks like they have a modified Red 3D printed follower. I've been out for preety serious surgery and getting back into it.
Thanks Jason if you are out there, worked great.

Jason Dellinger is a class act.

Good thread about it, I had these issues.

Glad you're pleased with the upgrades. It's a shame that we have to offer this service for an otherwise fine rifle, but I'm glad that we could help. Thanks for posting your feedback here. I don't advertise this because I don't want backlash from AI about not being "authorized".

Reading thru it now, thanks.

How come AI doesn’t make a mag that works 100% with the PRC?

can only design perfection around so many variables.

I'd guess the cartridges they care about are the most common ones used in military. .338 lm, .300 win mag, .308 win etc

Magazine optimized for one may not be for the other.

.300 win mags "work" but the reliability for me and others was not acceptable in practice.

Ai's are great rifles, I bought my AXSR and barrels and bolts to run many cartridges. But IMO they should improve on their .300 WIN magazines if they can for .300 PRC round.

Even my 6mm creed runs better in my .308 magazines, just luck of the draw on the random calibers I think.

People offering one-off assistance on $10k+ rifles only strengthens ai's ecosystem imo.

More help the better. again, awesome rifles. But comeone AI.

Just my opinion but one should NOT have to turn to 3rd party to get a rifle to feed well from its own magazine. This is utterly unacceptable.

.300PRC is being utilized by DOD and NAVSPECWAR and Lord knows who else. Not like it’s some boutique 7mmBrokeBack cartridge or whatever.

Don’t sell a rifle chambered in .300 PRC if you’re not going to make a magazine for it that works out the gate.

I agree and I'm the 3rd party. The issue is a common one within the industry. We have to tune the single stack mags for our hunting rifles for the same reason. The problem is 300 PRC has the same case head diameter as 300 Win Mag and manufacturers assume that magazines for 300 Win Mag will also work for 300 PRC provided that the mag will accommodate the extra length of the 300 PRC cartridge.

300 PRC has less taper in the case than 300 Win Mag, so magazines set up for Win Mag often do not feed well and need feed lip adjustments in single stack mags even if they are long enough for the 300 PRC. We both shorten the feed lips and adjust the openings on these mags.

The AI AXSR mags with the plastic base plates compound this issue by being a double stack mag. So, the round stack literally binds on itself in the magazine because there is not enough room in the magazine body for the wider cases just below the neck. This is what prevents the round stack from popping up so that the rounds can be fed into the chamber. Instead, the rounds stick nose down and try to feed into the front of the magazine.

The reason that AI has the issue is that the AXSR was originally designed for the US military ASR (Advanced Sniper Rifle) solicitation, which at the time specified .308, 300 Win Mag, and 338 Lapua. As such, the magazines are desinged around those cartridge families. 300 Norma and 338 Norma still use a Lapua bolt face, so the 338 Lapua mags should run those well. 300 PRC while it uses a 300 Win Mag bolt face, is not the same cartridge and is not just a longer 300 Win Mag so there are issues running that cartridge in those magazines. AI probably assumed that since the cartridge diameter is the same and the magazine will accept the extended length of the 300 PRC that they were compatible.

I'm assuming that AI doesn't think there are enough users shooting 300 PRC or the problem is not widespread enough to warrant a revised magazine. It's a shame because after we upgrade the mags, they still run 300 Win Mag just fine. They would not need a proprietary 300 PRC mag.

We address the issue in 3 areas: 1.) We tune the magazine feed lips for proper function with 300 PRC. 2.) We tweak the magazine body to get as much room as we can for the round stack 3.) We install a new follower that moves the magazine spring forward to provide more pressure at the front of the cartridge to help with feeding.

Had the same done with the same results. Definitely worth it.

Can modified mags be ordered directly, or do we have to supply the mag for modification?

It’s cool. But the constant rubbish in this AI picture thread isn’t.

The hide has changed over the years, unlike actual AI’s which are no fuss get the job done systems, a number of new age AI owners have bought an expensive piece of kit and think it’s a flex on people to own acting like misbehaved children. The irony.

This is not to discredit those who really run AI’s. There’s a lot of posing going on. It’s everywhere these days in everything.

For the misbehaved kids or full grown men at the back yes I can afford AI’s and so what, move along. This is Snipershide.

@Mile High Shooting

Anyone know where I can get these parts? Screw heads on both sides are boogered by the previous owner and I have OCD about this kind of stuff. It’s the folding stock/flush cup retainer and screws on an AX308. Not sure if the stock retainer side is supposed to come apart.

I called Mile High and who ever I talked to “wasn’t familiar with that rifle”. Also, I didn’t see the parts listed on Sporting Services site.
