As much as they make people crazy they are much cheaper and keep expenses lower.

No lights
No poles
No wires
All that “extra town money”..they can funnel it away and give OT

Europe has millions of them
I don't know why some people don't like traffic circles they keep traffic flowing and make sense.

If you would rather stop at a 90-degree intersection waiting for a green light, you are a moron.

When it's the only game in town.... Either that, or you search for an empty plot of land way out in the sticks somewhere and you have to build on it (and incur the time/expense of doing so) and it's far away from ancillary services (shopping, medical, car maintenance, mass transit etc. etc.). That's how it is in this part of FL. Most of it is already sub-divided and deed restricted. And that means, HOAs.

Trust me, I'd love to get out, but the list of available houses or empty lots in this area is minimal. very minimal. I'd have to go farther out and find an empty lot and build on it (taking that time and expense). When I found this place (almost 10 years ago), I just didn't have the time to look. I had to do something fast as I was getting kicked out of my temporary rental house.
An empty plot of land way out in the sticks is exactly what I did. I built in all the infrastructure myself. I built the shop myself. I built the house myself. Cheap, right, fast. You can have two. Mine has been cheap and right. Because I DIY-ed all of it, it is worth 5X what I have in it, and climbing. I don't need ancillary services, because that means being near people. And I don't want to be near people. I created wealth by out-working most people.

In Mass., the "traffic circle" is called a "Rotary." There are four along the way to Woods Hole Mass (to get to the ferry). The most famous one is just after you cross the Bourne Bridge and land on Cape Cod (you see the big bush there with that name) You have to stay on the outside lane to continue down on to Rt. 28 South to get to Woods Hole. The problem being, some cars might not recognize you trying to turn right and want you to continue around the Rotary. One must "assert" one's self.

The "Cape Cod" bush is on the opposite side of that clump of shrubs you see there.

The same people that hate traffic circles also mess up every four way stop intersection they come to. They wait till they've stopped to look around and try to figure out when everybody else arrived. Then they get confused and start waving everyone else through and screw up the whole system. Society basically implodes at that point. Chaos ensues.

Traffic circles are amazing.
Edit: we pretty much only call them roundabouts in the midwest.

As stated earlier, I had neither the time nor the $$$ to do that. My temporary lease on the home I had was expiring and I could not renew. Frankly, I was lucky to find this place.

The proper way to use a roundabout in the US is, look to the left (AKA yield), fuck the people on the right.

In England and other bass ackwards countries, it's the opposite.

Call them traffic circles or rotaries all you want. They are, and will always be roundabouts. The Brits will tell you that.

Good Luck with that. If your mindset causes an accident up there (particularly the Rotary I mention), you will be dealing with two forces:

1) The Mass. State Police that patrols that area and:

2) Extremely pi$$ed off drivers that may very well miss their ferry because of the traffic tie up! Which will cause the Mass State Police to be ever more pi$$ed!

The chance of me being in ANY North East state is nil to nil.
I have zero reason to be in any of those commie states (shitholes).

My mindset of roundabout use is simply yield to the oncoming traffic and not yielding to asshats that don't wait their turn.
There's zero traffic infraction on my part if an accident happens.

Fair enough. Someone with *that* mindset, then.

On this particular Rotary, there are "dual right turn lanes. Both are also "continue the circle" lanes as far as traffic goes. See the pic above that shows the Cape cod bush. The conflict occurs when a driver on the "left" right turn lane wants to turn right, but the driver on the "right" right turn lane wants to "continue the circle." That "continue the circle" driver may ignore the others' right turn signal and then honk and be pi$$ed at him when he thinks the driver in the left right turn lane is trying to cut him off. Some of those drivers may try to force the "left" right turn lane driver to "continue the circle" anyway, not giving way so he can turn right.

Not a pretty sight if an accident ensues.
