Dude, I shot 6cm most 2024 and love the round. Good work. Sometimes hard to spot impacts here in South TX summer but i like that round a lot.
It burns barrels quick though

Yeah, I'm on 6CM barrel #2. I gave up on the round after I burned the first barrel out in 1,400 rounds (and I shoot slow)...but it is hard not to come back when the midrange ballistics are stinking good. It is like a little magnum (until you get out to real distance).

Oh hey gents. I sold my ASR kit 2 years ago (a dumbass move for sure and not recommended. Don’t try it you’ll be full of regret) and I’m back baby. Looking for an AXSR to buy and sad to see 308 bolts now made out of unobtainium. What are the odds of me finding an Mlok rail for an AXSR? Also unobtainium?

Since i couldnt get the 50cal, some money is left to do some foolish stuff😅
I have all the rifles i need and prefer to practice a lot.

Right now stumbled across an unfired axmc in sage green.
I have not seen any troubles with those rifles besides the lfp/sfp. Interested in 308/338lm only. Rifle comes with both bolts, mag change kit and barrels.

Biggest concern right now is the fact the model is discontinued. Thinking of how lost i am with finding sidestocks for my aw/awm, i am thinking about what happens if i need support with this one.

The color is great though🤣

I prefer this one over the newer models but well...whats your opinion on the support issue?
What about the trigger, is this a comp trigger?

Any thoughts about good/bad are welcome.

If you were worried about support as a civilian in the first place, AI is the wrong brand. That said, I sent my AX in for service post discontinuation and didn’t have any issues.

Do it. My AXMC has been the best rifle I’ve ever owned. It’s heavy as hell, but so much fun to shoot. 300NM has been my go to lately.

I have two Sage Green AXMCs, and one Elite Sand AXSR. I have shot one of the MCs in 338LM, 6.5CM, and now it's 300NM. The other MC has never seen anything but 338NM. The SR has only been 300PRC. I never ran into any LFP/primer trouble with 338NM or 338LM (the 338NM is all handloads, the 338LM has been all Berger factory 300gr ammo). I never had LFP/primer issues with the 6.5 shooting factory Hornady 140 ELD ammo, but I DID start piercing primers with the Berger 144gr factory load, so I got a SFP .308 bolt assembly for it. Then, I got into the same trouble with the 300NM shooting Berger 230gr factory ammo, and I replaced the 338 bolt assembly for that rifle with the SFP version . The one that is set up for 338NM came from AI in that chambering, and has never been changed to anything else. It still has the LFP it came with and has never had an issue for over 1500 rds.

I don't think there has been much of an issue with LFP/primer problems when shooting any of the original cartridges the rifle was originally intended for (.308, 300WM, and .338LM) with the possible exception of small-primer .308s (maybe?). If you did run into a problem, a new SFP bolt assembly is available, albeit on a semi-sporadic basis sometimes, and will fix the problem.

An un-touched MC will have the original, battle-proven AI trigger, not a Comp trigger, or the hybrid one in the SR. I prefer the MC trigger for its track record. It can not be adjusted as low as the SR, but I don't find it to be an issue at all. It's great, to me. I've not had any problems with the SR trigger either, but some have reported it, and usually it just needs cleaning when it occurs.

Given the choice between a brand new MC vs SR, I'd go with the MC (but the SR is really close, it's just preference). If you can get the MC at a significantly lower price than a new SR, I'd take it in a heartbeat. As far as support, they aren't really an "old" design yet. I suspect parts availability will be good for some time, especially anything important for the rifle to function. "Availability" for parts, in the AI world, has to be taken in context, because parts for even their newest designs can be frustrating to get. Just to be on the safe side, you might consider picking up a SFP bolt assembly for each of the sizes you intend to shoot - just whenever you see them available, just in case. That way, you already have what you need IF you experience primer problems, AND you have "spare parts" already on hand if even if never need them.

This was a first for me with any rifle. It just so happened to be one of the most expensive rifles I've ever purchased.
I actually had that happen to me mid 22lr match long ago. Mdt chassis cup wasn't in spec and dumped it muzzle first into the rocks.

Checked my 2015 AT today though and it checks fine. Snapped and pulled really hard without issue.

I've seen that most ATs have this additional QD cup that mine doesn't, is it a standard option or an add on?

Does yours have a plug in the skins where it’s an option to add to the chassis.

Mine are both 2014 AT’s. My DE has it just like in this pic. My green one has the spot for it. Just have to screw one in. Could also put a plug in the skin to cover it if I wanted as well

Mines a folder, I've got a plug on each side.
I'll have to pull the skins off and see if its threaded so I can attach my own.

Does any one know if you can get limited rotation flush cups that'll fit for this purpose?
Grovetec have a bunch of limited rotation options but nothing I can see that'll attach via a centre screw.

Any experience thoughts on AI AX PSR? Seems factory "tanodized"? Got a line on one but don't know much about them. Have a lot of experience with Remington PSR that won the PSR contract. Not sure why AI lost our as seems a better system as far as barrel change and better bolt/receiver. Thanks

1) If you can get a PSR, get it. Don't waste time. It's now a rare rifle and an incredible shooter.

2) AI needs to stop pushing for their competition trigger in military contract rifles. If they hadn't, they would have won. Both the PSR and the ASR.

So the PSR had a competition trigger which created problems? Like failure?

The PSR didn't have any issues. The MK21 program simply didn't have a winner, and the contract cancelled due to a lack of proper government management of the contract program in choosing a rifle, essentially.

The ASR used a competition trigger for their submission, which was not included in the commercial offerings. They had ONE failure and from that, was not chosen for the MK22 program. But also, because of background shady politics for Barrett to win.

In short, the PSR is an incredible rifle with all it offers and if you can get a full deployment kit, it is 1000% worth it. ALL the MK21 submissions were and are better than the current MK22. There's reasons why the US Army Rangers have ditched their MK22s and are using Remington MSR MK21s now, which you'll see at the International Sniper Competition.

You hear a lot of reasons why the AI wasn't picked. Too heavy, too expensive, supposedly one trigger failed ect. I bet a lot of politics and money were exchanged under the table on why the Barrett was picked. Even look at all the other new contracts being rewarded. Sig wins most of them and I think most of the new Sig products are junk.

Agree. Saw it happen all the time in Mil /Fed gov. They have to make it look legit “fair and open competition” but then find ways to disqualify those except who they want-so ends up sole source but they can’t say that
