So I ordered a Burris XTR pro on ebay knowing it was likley a scam. Buy it now 642 dollars, let's take a swing. I see the seller joind just a couple days prior. After I purchase I see the sellers name is Jonaten from Broomfeild CO. At 2 am after purchase a shipping label is is made that goes active.

Here is where the plot thickens. After ebay mandatory 5 day wait I request refund for the item that hasn't shipped. The scammer pulls a switcheroo and changes the tracking to number to one that shows delivered in mailbox lamar colorado. 🤯😳 and says delivered see.

Now what the shit. I know for a fact the only thing delivered to my house Wednesday was a single peice of junk mail. And an xtr pro fitting in my mailbox. 🤔🤔🤔

So I am off to usps and who knows where I live already when I show up. 🤣🤣🤣 They get me detailed tracking for the new 1 2 switcheroo tracking number. A 7oz package with 4.35 postage was delivered to a diffrent address in town.

So, is this what the seeds in the mail were and are all about? I kind of want to go onock on the door and see if they got an unexpected package. What if it had a return address on it. 🤔 Greer South Carolina is where it came from. Where was theis from again? Wait that's lawnmowers. 🤣🤣🤣

Had basically the same thing happen with a camera lens back in February. eBay covered me through "buyer protection". So.....I was quite happy about that.

What I couldn't figure out was that it was "shipped" via UPS and UPS showed it as delivered to my address and signed for by "Kathy". No "Kathy" here, never has been. Don't know how UPS could have shown it as delivered. I literally waited all day for the delivery. There was never a time that I wasn't looking for the Brown Truck.

It was a valuable lens and I didn't want any porch pirates to get it, so I waited/watched. The UPS truck drove by at least twice, but never stopped. My only guess is that there was someone inside UPS that was in on the scam. Can't see how that was possible though.

The seller vanished, and didn't respond to my "lack of delivery" inquiries via the eBay system. EBay refunded me because the seller didn't respond. It was about $700.00. I was sweating bullets though, due to the fact that UPS showed it as delivered.

I think eBay has seen this scam before and knows what is going on. They never told me though. I had my money back and figured I'd leave well enough alone and not ask questions.

I went ahead with the purchase because of eBay's "Buyer Protection" plan. They came through as promised. But, I wouldn't do it again. If eBay decided to renege, the next step is to do a chargeback through your credit card. I used my AMEX because of their "Buyer Protection" policy. Interesting though, eBay quit accepting AMEX payments directly, but will allow it through PayPal, which is what I did.

Good luck. Hope you can recover the funds and get this guy nailed for fraud
Never any real concerns about recovering funds since it was on ebay and paid for with a credit card. Ebay ruled in my favor already. I replied to the buyers repsone that it was delivered yesterday.

It wouldn't be the first time I thought something on ebay has to be a scam and I got a similarly good deal. But you do you @hele...🤣🤣🤣 I will go ahead gamble a few emails and phone calls for 1k$.

I bought an ACOG from the Trijicon Store on Amazon (I thought). It was a good deal but not such a good deal that I considered it a scam. Scope arrives, it's in what is an actual Trijicon black plastic case with a real Trijicon serial number, etc.

Scope is not what is on box label and not what I ordered. I call the Trijicon Store. They didn't sell me a scope. I file fraud with Amazon and so does Trijicon. It took a little while but I got my money back and then a real Trijicon showed up. i was like, wtf...I check my bank account and shit. Trijicon sent me a refurb unit for free!!!! Plus I still have the knock off and it's real piece of shit I keep on one of the loaner AR's. I let pretty much anyone shoot that a few times and all they want if they are burning their own ammo.

I have been actually ripped off once and my brother was ripped off once.

It's to the point that I damned near won't buy it if I can't have it in my hand when I hand the other guy some cash.

I have yet to actually get burned. Knock on wood. I used to buy and sell quite a bit on here. It was pretty safe back in the day. Once it became the cool place to be it started attracking more rats.

I had an experince with burris CS in about 2008 over a broken xtr they had for a year. I think I ripped every CS rep in the place a new one. Then scopes start showing up. Not 1, not 2, not 3, but a total of 4 scopes show up over about a 3 week period. 3 of the 3-12s and one of the 4-16 like I sent in. Reticle broke off it in 2 shots. 🥺🤣 I kept returning the 3-12s to sender and they kept showing back up. 🤣🤣

A couple years ago I bought a set of spiked feet for a long out of production tripod for less than $50.

The eBay seller sends me a FedEx tracking number that I check: shipment originated in Butte Montana and when I click on the shipment details, the package weighs 126 pounds. Destination is Springfield Virginia which is where I live.

Sure enough, four days later it shows delivered and signed for by Ken, whoever that is.

After contacting the seller I call PayPal. They check the tracking number, call FedEx and find out the address it was delivered to. It wasn’t mine.

They immediately refund my payment. I ding the seller with negative feedback and the seller continues to message me for days begging me to change the feedback in fractured English.

I have only ever had one issue. I purchased a die cast car the seller never shipped it and basically told me to stick it. I politely said to him, if you look at my shipping address you will see I am about 30 minutes south of you. Your move, I received a refund
