Join the contestI would hardly consider the 777 or 787 a light twin. The 777x has the largest engine in the world. 4 engines is no longer necessaryMissing from all of the commotion about the Qatari 74, is the fact that Boeing only makes light twin airliners now.
If I were a pilot I think I'd still like 4...just in case you lose one.. or two.I would hardly consider the 777 or 787 a light twin. The 777x has the largest engine in the world. 4 engines is no longer necessary

Well it depends. If you lose two engines on the same side you are so fuckedIf I were a pilot I think I'd still like 4...just in case you lose one.. or two.

Umm, nope.Well it depends. If you lose two engines on the same side you are so fucked
And a shit load of trim. That's why they got that big assed rudder...
Not like its a Metroliner, now that was a shit load of rudder.Push that foot to the floor and hold it there. You'll be just fine

But have you flown the 717? I hear it’s the best airframe out there. Just ask a Tranny.Having flown the 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7, with some MD-11 thrown in for good measure, I prefer the redundancy.
I'll wait for the 2 hour takeoff alternates for twins.
Said in the best of humor ...![]()
Hard passUmm, nope.
Part of my training was loosing three and then going around. Now that was a challenge.
this buys some influence.
Did that training include removal of big, awful smelling, items from your pants after losing 3.Umm, nope.

Nope, but did have to change shirts and have a beer after it. plus my leg hurt a little bit.Did that training include removal of big, awful smelling, items from your pants after losing 3.![]()
They developed and delivered the first triple 7 within ~5 years but it's going to take 10 years to build a pair of 747s, at 2bil each, at the request of the President. It's a national embarrassment they can't get this done. BUT then the 777 was in the early 90s when Boeing still had bald white men with glasses and cigarettes doing all the thinky stuff, they probably have a bunch of dumb women and faggots up in there nowadays.
Bottom line: much ado about nothing
One of my aviation mentors - Navy Captain, Viet Nam vet, former P2V Neptune and P3 Orion submarine hunter pilot, used to tell the tale of a P3 on final approach at a USAF B-52 base. Tower addresses the P3 as "Navy light-aircraft" (the P3 is a 4-engine turboprop nearly as big as a C-130, but this was a common head-game the USAF liked to play with the USN to assert dominance). "Navy light-aircraft, abort approach and initiate a go-around. Await further instructions." The P3 inquires as to why, and is told there is a B-52 on long final with a declared emergency due to an engine-out situation. P3 pilot replies, "Ah, yes - the dreaded 7-engine approach."Buff driver?

I heard this story in the 90’s when I got to my first VP squadron. One of my aviation mentors - Navy Captain, Viet Nam vet, former P2V Neptune and P3 Orion submarine hunter pilot, used to tell the tale of a P3 on final approach at a USAF B-52 base. Yep. As I said, a "tale" of inter-service rivalry. Probably a grain of truth and the rest for entertainment, but funny nonetheless.I heard this story in the 90’s when I got to my first VP squadron.
For sure.Probably the largest issue is that Qatar is a Sharia Supremest country that, much like Iran, is not really an ally of the United States. Just like the billions they've donated to American universities, it's hard to imagine this is simply a friendly gesture and that they don't believe, true or not, this buys some influence.
Because, of Course – Qatar Negotiating Hostage Swap Between Israel and HamasThe leaders of Hamas do not live in Gaza, they live in Doha, Qatar…. So, it comes as no surprise the Qatari government, the official sponsors and finance operators of the Muslim Brotherhood, of which Hamas is one subsidiary, will act as the negotiators for the release of captured Israeli hostages.
Really Goofy – DOJ Files Additional Indictment Against Bob Menendez for Taking Bribes from Qatari InterestsThis is really odd, if you understand the role Qatar plays for the USA. If you think of Ukraine as a money laundering operation where U.S. Senators, families or business interests, get U.S. government funds washed through Ukraine and back into the USA, then historically Qatar has been our biggest dry cleaner for decades.
It is well known that the U.S govt uses Qatar as the pivot point for the distribution of covert funds to facilitate the Dept of State, CIA and Intelligence Community operations. Example: We give Qatar money to buy U.S. military weapons, the CIA provides the weapons, then we tell Qatar to send the surface-to-air missiles to Libya (this happened). That’s just one example, and there are dozens of documented instances.
It Begins – Qatar Tells Hamas Leadership They Need to Leave(J Post) – Qatar has reportedly clarified to the terrorist group Hamas, “You are not welcome here,” KAN reported on Friday, citing a source familiar with the matter. This development has reportedly been underway in recent days, three sources told KAN. One source told KAN that this is due to pressure from the US.
