Bartlein Barrels Update

Just a sample of one, but my first MODBB barrel was this 16” 6mm Creedmoor barrel Craddock put together for me in 2022, and it’s finally reached the end at almost 3000 rounds. Granted, I didn’t push it as hard as my bolt guns, but still it lasted longer than I expected.

One of my customer/buddies and retired SS shoots 6CM on his PRS guns. He gets about 2500 on his. He takes care of it... but he uses it also. He's had I think 3 in a row now and all ended around 2500. Prior to the BB material he was pulling them at about 1200-1400 rounds. I think 1400 was a stretch.

Well.... here we go....

The steel tariff's are in place and possibly going up again. I was on the phone again our mill rep yesterday and they will be here for a meeting tomorrow as well.

I don't know where the proposed additional 25% increase is going as of right now but the first 25% is in effect with our next steel shipment we receive later this week or early next.

Price is going up $15 effective today.

Any orders in house.... you still get it at the price on your confirmation regardless of when it ships.

Later, Frank

How does a tariff on import affect your prices? Are you importing the steel?

Doesn't matter if we import the steel or not.... even raw material to make the steel gets imported to some extent depending on what it is... so no matter what prices are going to be affected.

Also think of this... ingredients that go into our coolant for the lathes has iron in it as well... I'll go on a limb and say were going to get hit with that for a increase at some point in time as well. It happen during Covid.... our coolant cost jumped 30% without any heads up... was just told.. "your next order will go up 30%". All due to material costs.

Also material surcharges are not added to the base price of the material and those prices are based on current market day exchange rates. Any of the grades of material like copper for example that go into the mix of the material.... we don't know those prices till the day of shipment/we get the invoice.
