How long will it take to pay off the national debt?

Let’s just ignore the 200 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Let’s assume a wand is waved and it goes away.

Average interest rate on the debt-5%

Now by some astonishing act and miracle let’s assume we erase the trillions a year deficit spending. AND by that same miracle we run a trillion dollar surplus.

So how long?

Not an issue. Just declare war on all the major debtor nations. then have congress declare the debt null and void. It’s what we did to DWM.

Upon entry to the war, under authority of the Trading with the Enemy Act, the government created the Office of Alien Property Custodian to oversee the seizure of enemy-owned or enemy-controlled assets. The DWM patent was ruled to be U.S. property, and the attorney general dismissed the company’s suit out of hand.

So, with a declaration of war, the enemy’s assets which is what we owe, would then be resolved through the Trading with the Enemy Act. Thus no National Debt. If/when the dumocraps get back in power, I am sure they will consider all those registered in the Republican Party to be enemies and any savings bonds or other outstanding credits the government owes us will be confiscated as well. Don’t you just love politics.

Ole George was right, political parties are going to be the ruin of us. It took 250 years, but it looks like he will be right. (Pun not intended) But made a pretty good pun anyway.

100% pure sarcasm it is. It’s obvious what the results would be if such a move was taken. (I was thinking it was so far unreasonable, that no one would take it seriously).

Now, the last half of the third paragraph. As much hate is pushed by the far left as the years roll by, if the moderate members of the Democratic Party don’t get a handle on the far left, yes, I could see a civil war started by those to eradicate all opposition to their one world, socialistic state.
