Decoding the decline in college enrollments

Decline in enrollments I only see as a positive. Less time spent with those people the better, less time spent in that anything goes party called "school" so much the better. I see nothing good that comes from it.

In my view VERY few people should go to college, if you need a degree for your chosen profession, Dr. for example yea lines up. Most other jobs I see what you "learn" in college as a huge minus.

As to the costs, get the .gov out of it and the costs will come down, ban every college sport from TV or the radio. A few less wife beaters and rapists in college the better.

Just another rotted once great system that will soon fall upon itself.

It was very obvious which professors actually had held jobs in the real world. I got my degree because uncle sam paid for it, including housing (post 911). But, I chose a degree that applied to what I had already been doing for uncle sam for many years, and honestly my first job after college, the interview focused on my military experience and when the degree was brought up, I was told "good for you" lol.

Only in America are some of these degrees, degrees. Wouldn't be a thing in some other nations. Makes you wonder why we have such frivolous degrees.
I know a guy, has a masters in theology. Wife and two small kids. Paints houses…….

Much better off in the trades than many of the more administrative type jobs that require a college degree. If for no other reason than that it is a heck of a lot more enjoyable than sitting behind a desk.

I worked in sales for a number of years and enjoyed the fact that it was entirely based on merit in the form of revenue. A really good salesman would walk on water with the company execs and they did not concern themselves whatsoever with credentials.

Lots of 18+ college chicks are paying for tuition by doing hard core porn- anal, swallowing, gang bangs, thus the greater numbers of skirts attending college versus males. And many of those females are also allegedly stripping and turning tricks. Allegedly.

Can you expand on this? I looked into an apprenticeship progam a couple of years ago and it was starting at something like $15/hour.

More than a decade ago demographic trends were identified that equal a 100 ft tidal wave set to wipe out a sizable amount of colleges. And it just started to hit right before the pandemic. The people are simply not there. What's left is not college material.

Compounding these trends are the rise in suicides aggravated by the rise of social media induced depression and mental illness in young people.

The Pandemic acted as a multiplier on the mental health issues. In addition testing standards were lowered permanently, their proficiency threshold, or cut score, reduced so most students look like they're passing.

This is why higher educational institutions are toast. Not because of any of the culture war balony.

Where I work, and the universities a few friends work at, enrollment is down a bit, but retention is down a whole lot more.

You're discussing "product for sale" vs "agenda", that's the problem, the agenda is the product, the meaningless degree is just an add on.

I'd add that the socialist/communist left knew exactly where to infiltrate to have the greatest impact; the impressionable youth,

Baron will likely get passed but the Jewish folks have done much the same in D.C. They comprise 6.2% of Congress but only 2.4% of the US population.

Thats in no way a slur, rather a compliment. Seize the power. No wonder Israel gets more relief than everybody else combined, LOL

1. The size of the U.S. Jewish population

Jews make up 2.4% of the U.S. adult populationThis report classifies approximately 5.8 million adults (2.4% of all U.S. adults) as Jewish.

I'll bet thats not a problem at the Ivy's, Stanford, Chicago, and the few like them. My second tier U had higher applications than ever. From what I see though, they've libtarded down the academics.

Applications are up, freshman classes are up, but retention is the real issue. When I posted in this thread a while back, my university had the largest freshman class ever, but overall enrollment has dropped. It is getting to the point where some programs are having to work to justify their existence, and that’s a good thing. The whole idea of a liberal arts experience at college is losing its luster to employers. Employers see a skills gap when students graduate. We are starting to see trends where employers are fine with someone having a certificate in an area instead of a degree. Little Johnny can get his certificate in network security and go straight to work. The employer doesn’t care if Little Johnny read classic literature along the way. The smart universities will adapt to this (all of the Ivy League already has), or they will dwindle down to low enrollments.
