i've seen a bunch of decorticate and decerebrate posturing in the ER and ICU it doesn't happen immediately after a hit like this. it takes time to develope on the way to brain death. times vary. as i recall the vid,his Rt arm moved up. never heard of posturing being unilateral and only involving the upper extremities. possible i guess,but....what hankpac said is the likely explanation. doesn't matter,he was dead when he hit the ground and posturing doesn't happen when the whole system has been shut down which is likely from what looks like a carotid hit.
he didn't suffer which means very little except to family maybe. his way of working was a bit unique. FTF respectful take downs of idiots and their ideas. his loss will be felt.

I’m usually not a person who reacts to news like this, but this one is hitting a little hard. Just so unnecessary. I am just leveled for his wife and 2 small kids. So senseless.

I knew who Kirk was, but never really paid much attention to him until VERY recently. Over the last 2 or 3 months I got hooked into listening to his podcast and came to realize how special of a guy he was. Not a “bomb thrower”. Very thoughtful in his arguments and patient with those who were in the side opposite of him. Not meaning to say anything untoward, but I cannot believe that of all people to target, someone targeted him. What I experienced from his podcast and the video clips I saw was unbelievable levels of grace and compassion….never wavering in what he felt was truth……always trying to turn the discussion back to Christ and the teachings of the Bible.

I’m thinking back on a recent podcast I listened to. Unless I am totally losing it, I swear he made a comment about not being afraid to die for what he was doing. It breaks my heart that he ultimately did. I can’t see the end of this, but I pray that somehow, something good comes from this.

I would say if the shooter was up on a high building he didn't compensate for the downhill angle. Probably aimed for the heart and hit the neck.

Google Earth with all the 3D buildings makes it clear that the end of the gray building with the tiered roof is probably the furthest vantage point for clear shot down. He was down in the bottom of the amphitheater and the shooter would have to be elevated. 400' plus or minus depending on which tier he was set up, and that doesn't take into account elevation, so take away distance for elevation change. Most likely the shooter isn't a pro at all, was aiming at his head, and actually hit low on his neck, so a 6"+ miss at 100+ yards, and low. You would think with the elevation difference it would have missed high, but the shooter sucked. If the shooter was inexperienced, but still aimed at his chest, it makes sense he would miss high not taking into account the elevation difference. Pure speculation, but to me the impact screams someone who can't shoot straight.

Down hill shots hit high. Aiming for the heart and hit the neck is probably more than likely.
