WOOOH!

I love my S&W 22A-1 Shot Show Limited Edition:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JDBiq3x7Fw

But now S&W has a 22A Deluxe model with:

- full length optics rail
- a fluted target barrel
- spiffy stainless finish on barrel and slide
- large checkered competition size wood grips
- steel trigger
- and improved adjustable sights

And it's only $325!

HAHAHA, screw you Mk series lovers, this is going to blow the ugly $500 Ruger nambu wannbes right out of the water.

Re: S&W 22A TALO Limited Edition

tto bad they didn't put that goofy mag release somewhere more traditional.

i'm a big smith fan, and have a 22a, but that mag release really screws up my reloading training.

though the 22a is a good shooting accurate pistol (and at a good price), i still think (know) that the ruger bull barrel will put it under the table.

Re: S&W 22A TALO Limited Edition

That's what I thought. I have one with a 5.5" bull barrel and the target grips and I can't complain, it shhoots on par with my Mark 3 Hunter model and feeds everything.

Re: S&W 22A TALO Limited Edition

I can't complain either with my 5.5" 22A . I have had it for several years . & like yours it feeds & shoots & is fairly accurate .
22A is a good cheep priced Plinker for fun shooting . But there is something about that 22A that just always just been Not Ergonomic feeling in my hand & I really hate the Trigger Guard on mine .
This model does look pretty & polished-up & with a fluted barrel .
.

Enjoy your ugly jap-knock off, and I'm not on AZS.com.

And if you're oblivious to what I'm referring to, look up the development of the Ruger Standard, alot of design was taken from that bastar*s time handling Jap guns. It's a fact subject matter experts agree on, educate yourself a bit on the "baby nambu" punk, I'm not making this up myself.

No, the externals do, but the slide setup is quite a bit different.

Think more High Standard/Colt Woodsman.

No, not the King of premium target .22 handguns, maybe the court jester though.

The King spot still needs to go to the Benelli MP95e. Now that thing is a bad @$$ .22 target pistol. There is a guy that I shoot smallbore bullseye pistol with who has one and all I've to say is wow, I want one.

I do like the full length rail though; I wish that Browning would bring that back as an option for the Buckmark line. But what was Smith thinking putting on that large nasty grip?

Re: S&W 22A TALO Limited Edition

I know . That Statement just is in No-Way accurate or factual @ ALL .
<span style="font-weight: bold">..."<span style="font-style: italic">Smith has again proven that they are the king of premium target .22 handguns</span>. "</span>

22A . I shoot it . & It works & it's Fun but it is ' FAR Reach' from being a premium .22 pistol . Sights & Trigger are safe & adequate and they work for fun Plinking . but NOT even close to being premium target .
The weight & balance & the way it feels & looks is Cheep . but it works . And then the Grip & the way it rides the middle finger of your hand up-against the big cheep cast Trigger Guard w/sharp edge . Rubs blister on it . & Had to file it down & re-shape it .
I would also find the time to dig into it & fix/tune the Trigger & mechanism up for better . But 22A is NOT worth my time .

It is a good (for example) Squirrel or a Tin Can shooter . & a SW 22A, it is just the middle of the road for that <span style="font-weight: bold">'@ it's Best'</span> .
You can polish the Bolt & put a polished Fluted round barrel on it, in place of the Slab-side barrel . But it is still a low-end Plinker, But it just looks Prettier now on that model .

BUT, it is fun & it Does functionally work for throwing .22 rimfire in a safe direction .

Re: S&W 22A TALO Limited Edition

By introducing the TALO 22A, they have the premium guns on both ends of the price spectrum. Everyone keeps saying the Ruger Mark series rule the roost, but they don't, and now Smith has an inexpensive 22 to prove it. The Mark series was never a serious threat to the 41.

Best competition .22: S&W 41
Best target .22: S&W 22A TALO

The best? Maybe. It is definitley one of them, but at that level it's now a matter of opinion. I'd love to have one someday.

No where close, but it is a nice entry level plinker.

Doesn't every pistol and rifle somehow go back to a JMB design?
