I just picked up a 7 week old pit, he has blue eyes, mostly grey/blue with white socks, tail tip, chest, and a white steak between his eyes. I'm having a hard time naming this one, any ideas? Tossing around Ammo, Axle, Diesel, Tank..... none of those seem to reaaly fit him though.

Re: Help with naming my dog.

Im partial to Maggot.

Re: Help with naming my dog.

LOL, not sure I want my 2 year old daughter and 9 year old son saying.... here fuckstick.

Re: Help with naming my dog.

See what names your 2 and 9 year come up with for him

Re: Help with naming my dog.

The experts say the name should have 2 syllables so it's easier for the dog to differentiate from other words or commands.

How about Jackson, Riley, or some athletes name since Pit's are so athletic.

Out of the above I like Loki the best. 2 syllables, cool sounding, has meaning.

My Pit is named Ozzie.

I laughed til I choked thinking about that. If it were a Pomeranian or a Beagle Id say name it Sniper, but thats not a handle you want to hang on a Pit. The only logical choice then, since you asked here on the Hide, woould be:

Lowlight.

Re: Help with naming my dog.

Gonna hafta see a picture of the dog to adequately name it.

Personally I'd stay away from the tough sounding pitbull names (tank, killer, diesel, etc). People expect that and it just perpetuates the whole pitbull thing.

My bully is named Mercy.

No. My dog is named Bulleit, after the bourbon and because he runs as fast as a bullet train.
Best name for a multi colored Pit has to be:

Stains!

Really though, does the world need one more Pit named Tank, Diesel, or any of those other overused names? Look deep into his eyes, see what he does. Look at his personality and see if he is inquisitive, or leaves everything alone, or if he likes to play and name him appropriately. His name will come to you if you take a few dyas to let it and unwrap your head from those stupid names everyone gives their dogs.

Pics of him doing his thing or just looking at the camera will help though.
I kinda like Gargoyle myself. It speaks to greys and blues and the will of Pit to guard home and family with all his spirit and being

Re: Help with naming my dog.

Blue eyes? Call 'em Newman...

White socks? Call 'em Shoeless...

Is he dumb? Doofus...

Feel like you shouldn't turn your back on him?..........................Barack

Re: Help with naming my dog.

You might as well name him "Bad Dog" because that's all he is going to hear until he stops chewing up shoes, books, furniture or anything else he can get to.

Re: Help with naming my dog.

A name will come to you after a while. All my animals end up naming themselves by their actions, sounds, or something funny they do.

Re: Help with naming my dog.

Added a picture!

If I named him by his actions his name would be lazyboy. Axle is out, My daughter can't pronounce it right, sounds like asshole. My son likes ammo so that may end up being his name.

Re: Help with naming my dog.

Rubble

Fun for the kids to say and will describe the state of your home while he's being trained...

Re: Help with naming my dog.

Achilles... he was a prince, hero of the Iliad, and the best fighter of his age. Every time my dog of that name watches the movie "Achilles" his ears perk up at the mention of the name.

Re: Help with naming my dog.

Blade. Or Post. The marking on his head between the eyes looks just like a high front sight blade.

Re: Help with naming my dog.

Looks like a Zeke or a Clyde to me.

Re: Help with naming my dog.

Great looking dog!

Although I like the thought of your kids running around yelling "Here Fuckstick!", I gotta go with Newman because of the blue eyes.

Re: Help with naming my dog.

That white blaze on his forehead looks like a carry handle of a 'stoner' rifle which is made of blued steel. I think he looks like a 'Stoner' with those steel blue eyes. I don't think any of your friends would suspect it was derogatory and maybe would even know it was the rifle.
He has similiar markings to my old dog Tyge's brother Gunther as well so that is also a good name, one that belonged to a dog who loved to swim in the river, jump from the banks into the water, chase down pigs, and never met a miscreatn he didn't want to eat

I kept a male out of my litter of pit pups.

I started calling him Doofus cause thats what he was. That led to Rufus and it stuck. Still gets called doofus part of the time, and he thinks that is his name too.

Kinda cracks me up sometimes...

And yes, the eyes will almost surely lose the blue coloring in a pit.

Re: Help with naming my dog.

How about Syphillis? That way when the dog jumps in your lap you can say, "Damnit, get off my nuts Syphillis!"
