I would guess the chance is slim and none . I sent the first 3 stocks Kirk used for his builds which in return was supposed to net me a A3 style stock for the cost of materials . I sent those in February of 2010 and never heard anything back from Kirk . In September I noticed he was selling the A5's and PM'd him about the progress of my A3 to which he replied it should be done in about 2 weeks . After that every time I bumped him I got some song and dance about what was going on until I decided I had just donated 3 stocks to whatever cause Kirk was supporting .

I think he is a nice enough guy who between personal issues and illness got in WAAAAAAY over his head on this stock deal . I hope he can eventually make everything right with folks but I would not reccomend sending him anything , especially not money for a 10-22 stock .

I am curious about the same thing?? I ordered one over a year ago, along with other. Just wanted to check in and see what progress was being made and now the whole thread has essentially been deleted.....WTF??

i couldnt find the thread last week, PM'd Kirk about it and have no response from him. i got in line a year ago, was supposed to be just a few down the list in line, and now the list and everything associated with it is gone. if its not going to happen, i would like to proceed spending my money on my 10/22 elsewhere

So no info from the hide on why the other post got pulled!. I wish I had the backing of a web site to take people's money and use the some site to disappear, thanks Hide. I am sure Kirk is still allowed to post on this site also, so very disappointed.

GUYS

1. captain kirk is not a gunsmith or has a shop open as far as i know, nor is a regular vendor for The Hide. from what i gather, he was doing this in his spare time. his last post was on 02/07/2012 and looking at the user list, he was last online on 02/08/2012. there was also talk of some financial problems and an illness mentioned, maybe the freakin guy is dead or something, or has a life other than surfing forums all day.

yeah sure if he took money from someone for work done, i'd stay in contact if i were him, so i do understand where you guys are coming from. if he got in over his head on making them, yeah HE SHOULD DO THE HONORABLE THING, AMIT IT, SEND YOUR $ BACK - don't blame The Hide.

he has this in his posts: "Roberts Tactical Precision
rtacprecision.com (coming soon)" going there shows that the website didn't come, or he didn't pay the bill for godaddy.

he's been around the forum since 2005, and has 4763 posts. chances are if he's a dick it would be known by now - stop blaming The Hide, maybe captian kirk got hit by a bus or something. (no "got beamed up" jokes)

2. As always "caveat emptor", especially if he's not a paying vendor. after all this is the internet, WTF send a complete stranger without an established shop $330.00? - don't blame The Hide

5. from his profile his email is [email protected]. that, plus the "Roberts Tactical Precision" tells me his name is Kirk Roberts, someone look up the number for a Kirk Roberts or maybe even a Hollie / Holly Roberts in Everett Washington, check the obituaries too. call the local Everett law up if you have to if you all are so passionate about being possibly defrauded and see what can be done about your $330.00. those that sent the stock should have an address, hopefully it's not a PO box.

6. maybe he's banned? - stop blaming The Hide, the admin may not have a clue this is going on over hear - angain, did anyone contact the moderators or the other admin?

7. i do not know captain kirk, i don't work for The Hide, nor am i any part of the Admin or Moderator - however stop squawking in this thread and take action - this is still the internet, there's a darn good chance all the facts are not known...maybe you guys got ripped off, maybe not.

The Hide isn't responsible for refunding your money or chasing people down that do bad business or is negligent in contacting you with a status. it's a forum, not a department store or the better business bureau.

someone grow a set and PM one of the Admin / moderators at the bottom of the forum, or even Lowlight himself. perhaps more intel can be gathered - if there's no response THEN you have a reason to blame The Hide.

as my post stirred a few PMs, i just want to post one of the replies and the intent of the post:

just putting out that if no one was contacted, that the hide should not be blamed, sort of like killing the horse because the cart had a broken wheel that no one knew how to fix.

even if the admin was contacted, there's not much they can actually do to collect funds that were given out.

was actually hoping that it would also bring awareness to tread lightly to any similiar situations that may happen when it comes to services or products being rendered in exchange for money in the future.

it sounds like that it's possible folks got ripped off (which sucks) but with no further information to what has happened to kirk or what he's going to do to make it right, the forum shouldn't be blamed****

i'm now sorry i put in 2 cents, but not having "a dog in the race" i can look at it through objective eyes and hopefully stop any snowballing of blaming The Hide for the misfortune that apparantly has happened, and possibly a few ways to get it rectified. i even tried to look at objectively enough to think Kirk may actually be dead (health problems were mentioned) and ways to see if he is actually horizontal or not. wouldn't folks feel like an a$$ then if he's worm food if that's the case?

as explained i have no personal ties to any of this other than i hate to see one entity get blamed for the actions of others.

I do have a dog in this fight and I don't blame the hide. He live about an hour from me and I have his address. I am going to email him at the kirknhollie address and send him a registered letter with copies of my documentation requesting a refund or the product promised. If I get neither I will submit a complaint to the sherrifs office.

Does the OP have the option of completely deleting a whole post? All forty or fifty pages of it? I think the Mods have to do that. I am sure someone knows more than is being said. It had also crossed my mind that because of the size of the post (45-50 pages) i believe it had been deleted because of the amount of memory it was taking up? I have no idea why it is gone, I am only glad i did not send the guy the money for the stock over a year ago when I got in line and he told me it would be 6-8 weeks. If anyone hears from Kirk please update. I for one sent him a PM three weeks ago and have heard nothing back.

Kirk now works at car toys in burlington washington. He is the manager there so his old boss told me the new number to his work is 1-360-707-4400 I just called there he was working and is busy so i left a message.

Hey all, just wanted to check in, its been nearly a month since I have been on the site. I have a new cell # which I will post online since I havnt been able to respond to PMs or emais in a timely manner over the last 30 days due to my work load. I just started a new job at the beginning of Feb and have been working 12 + hours a day and havnt had a day off since I started.

First off, know a lot of you have been extreemly patient with me, it has been a struggle this last year with trying to find time to get production up to speed, working a full time job and raising a family in the middle of it. With that said, I know I have missed dealines and made promises that I have not delivered on, I can only appologize and I know that only goes so far.

I have a few options I am working on. First, fill all orders that have been prepaid and then put in the towel. There are currently about 5 that have paid and are waiting to receive stocks. Second, I have a investor that is willing to put up the capitol, we need to sit down and work out the details and see if it makes sense, but he is very interested in the idea. If I could manage to make this work, I would plan on producing the stocks on a full time basis.

I will make an effort to call or PM everyone on the list that has prepaid in the next 48 hours.

Its been 48 hours since he last posted and promised those of us that paid a response - has anybody else heard anything cause I haven't heard squat.

ETA - I did get an email at my work address but all it contained was a request for my user name in order to give me an ETA. He also gave another apology and said that he never "intended" to defraud anyone.

This Friday will be just one month shy of one year since I sent him my stock and full payment. Despite acknowledging receipt of my payment and numerous PMs , VMs and promises to make good, he never even put me on the list. When I placed the order I knew that he was already having trouble meeting his delivery schedule, but a couple of guys who know him were quick to vouch for his character, and so I decided to take a chance and help him out by paying in advance. Since then it's just been one "mea culpa" after another. I might have felt sorry for him until I saw him purchase a number of items on the hide, including a used Premier scope last July. At first I thought about filing a complaint with the postal inspector, but in the end I decided to just let it ride as I couldn’t know for certain if something had befallen him or his family. After his last post I sent him another PM asking for resolution. Still no response. So Kirk, one last time, what are you going to do to make this good?

I'm not making light of the fact that you guys are out some cash, I'm just frustrated as well, having been waiting since 1/11, and near the top of the list. This sucks for all of us that have been waiting a long time. Not that it means anything, but Kirk expressed that he would still be taking care of the pre-pays and not the rest of us, reguardless if we had been waiting longer than a pre-paid or not. I guess that in my frustration I was thinking that if I pre-paid, I would at least have a snowballs chance in hell of getting my stock still, but I think we all know better at this point.

Did any of you that prepaid ever get any contact in the 48 hr window? I didn't really prepay. I got a pm for him saying mine was ready for paint so I sent the money. Then months after I sent the money he finally replied back saying it was ready for paint again and nothing ever shipped.

No part of this fight either (and new to posting on the hide), But getting him fired from his job would make it that much harder to get any type of compensation from him. I've seen things like this happen on other forums for custom made goods. Typically they get overwhelmed from the amount of orders they receive and spend the prepaid money trying to get everything setup but then quickly run out of funds. When that happens they "hide" from it dodging emails, phone calls, etc. Typically I've seen things like this end up getting corrected but it's usually a long process of the person slowly repaying/finishing the goods for everyone. Hopefully for everyone involved this gets resolved. Good luck to everyone who is out money at this point.


To Capt Kirk,
The best way to get yourself out of the hole your in, is be honest get on here and tell people in the open of what is going on. Your out of funding, life is busy, etc. Whatever your problem is that you have not been able to meet your deadlines but be honest and start communicating with everyone you owe money to or have they're stock. Figure out how you want to resolve the issue (repay or finish the orders) and let everyone know what your plans are. Keep it open and out in the public because this is the only way to recover from what has been done.

Criminalhate, captkirk has had plenty of time to make things right. It comes to a point that all the lies and excuses are just that. I don't wish for anyone to lose their job, but in this instance, I see it as warranted for the reasons below.

-He knows he has these peoples money.
-He has stated he would make it right in a certain time frame and he did not.
- He has purchased a high end scope on here that would probably cover all his losses during this time period.

And still there are people out money. I know who I would be calling.

Got a phone call a few hours ago. He said he could probably get a stock done for me within the month. I respectfully requested a refund and he said that would also take a few weeks. He mentioned that he had five stocks close to being ready.
