Great tool!
Great service!
Made in the USA!
Hide Supporter!
Great Price!

Get a Borka, If you don't agreee with any of the above you can sell it here and make every cent of your purchase price back. Hell I'm thinking of buying a second one myself!!!

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

If you are looking specifically to work on your firearms, go with the Borka and don't look back. Small and portable and does the job right every time. If you need further convincing, Lowlight uses it exclusively for all of his guns.

Plus Boris is a great guy, he is always on here, stands behind his product, is a site sponsor, and will always answer your questions.

That should sum it up for you.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

I got screwed with Amazon, will not buy from them or their stores.
I need a higher inch - pound range that 50. 10 -
70"pound

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

As much as I hate buying from China, I got mine at harbor freight about 6 years ago. Is it to spec? I am not sure, is it closer than my monkey paws? You bet. It was pretty cheap as well. I keep saying I'll get a new one but I am waiting for this one to break. I guess I should find some one with a good one and check mine.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

My borka goes to 72 inch pounds so it'll do what you needs.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

Another very satisfied Borka owner as well. Well worth the money & the kit it comes with allows me to cleanly carry tools in my range bag in a small package.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

I use the wheeler fat wrehnch and it works great. Bought it from midway if i recall correctly

Does just about everything you could need in a very compact package.
Quite a few great Hide sponsors carry it too.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

I haven't been sold on the Borka, I may be foolish but I am looking for old school torque driver with the inch/pound dials

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

Heard good things about the borka but have yet to use one. Ive been using a wheeler FAT wrench, dont really know how accurate it is, but fwiw all my rifles shoot fine.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

I have been using a wheeler FAT wrench and it is great. Included is a piece of paper verifying the calibration of your specific unit. It is a great addition to the work bench. I also have been looking at the borka tools wrench. It's small size would be great for field work!

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

I like mountz torque drivers, I bought a new one, then found that they come up on ebay all the time. The low range one goes from 10 to 50 in-lb. The higher range one goes from 30 to 80 in-lb. Any higher needs a torque wrench instead, they get too hard to drive a screwdriver by hand.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

If your aren't looking for firearm specific. go to your local Napa. it will have a life time warranty as well.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

I've got a Wiha on the work bench, and a Borka in the range bag.
Both work great.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

I think the WIHA maybe a good choice for me, thanks all!

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

+1 on Wheeler Fat wrench, bought it off Amazon with no problems and prompt delivery. Worked great mounting my NF base and scope.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

Got a Sekonk for rings to base and use the FAT WRENCH for everything else. Bought FAT WRENCH from SPORTS OPTICS and could not operate without it. VERY COOL TOOL

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

Funny thought. Is that wrench consistently wrong so the chart remains accurate??

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

Being consistently off (30% at the lower weight) does not give me a warm fuzzy. Maybe Im off base.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

Hooke's law works the same on Chinese springs as it does on American springs.

The Chinese do not bother to get their scale in the right place, but the scale does not move.

What would you do if you were going to make your own toque wrench?
Take the Chinese one, put a piece of tape on the scale, and write in the correct numbers. Even your brother in law could operate it then.

I had google Hookes. The tape and label thing may work out, but I'll have to pass on testing it on the b-law. He works in the aircraft industry and I would never hear the end of it. While in high school, I had an Olds with a PRNDL indicator that was alway wrong. I should have tried the tape fix.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

My wife designs calibrators.
I had a job once where I had to validate and verify a test and it's traceability to NIST.

You could actually do that with the torque wrench, not too likely on strain gauge pressure measurements for handloads.

I got the MG9 and I LOVE that thing! And the best thing is that it will never require calibration!

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

I got a snapon,30-200in use it alitlle on building motors, have a lever style for setting bearing pre loads and still bought the Borka kit with all the atachments and carry bag,

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

anouther rule I go by dont loan a Tq wrench out,Ill be glad to do it for you. ya never know if they use to right,or take lug nuts off,or worse drop it and dont tell ya they droped a $300+ Snapon tq wrench.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

Go around to the pawn shops/search Craigslist for a used Snap-On. Then get ahold of the local Snap-On dealer if it needs anything or if you want to have it calibrated. Snap-On's warranty is good even if you buy it used.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

If you guys want to go the snap-on route, then buy CDI as they make all of snap-on's torque wrenches. i have a 0-75 inch pound dial unit that rocks.

It works by leverage. As long as you hold it by the handle, it will work.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

I think Borka costs little too much. Perhaps alot of things in this industry cost too much.

That's my only reason for not buying one. I just can't justify spending close to a 100 dollars for it.

Don't forget anything of quality that comes in a small package always costs more. If you consider the quality of the Borka with the repeatability, throw on the longevity and compactness, its really not that much at all.

I hear ya. I wouldn't mind if it was a bit more crude looking as long as it worked. For what it is, it better be repeatable. I don't own one, but i believe the only moving part is the handle.

The idea is ingenious and you're also paying for that, but i still just can't justify it. I guess it's also relevant to how much you make and how uch you'd use it. I haven't touched my wrench since putting my scope on... If I had multiple rifles that had one scope (soon might be the case) it might be a good investment perhaps.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

I got my Borka from Scott at Liberty Optics. I figured with my scopes' values (2 NFs, 2 PST, 1 Hensoldt, a S&B on the way) it'd be worth it. Excellent value in my opinion.

Price is determined by manufacturing costs and profit levels REQUIRED to stay in business. On the other hand, price is configured to provide certain value to the customer and insure that the product is competative.

An example:

Borka Tools MG multi torque driver, 100% made in the U.S.A., offers 12 preset torque settings from 15 to 72 inch-lbs. for less price then Seekonk tool with just 1 preset torque setting, and when packaged with TAB GEAR custom cordura nylon pouch (MG3 kit), which adds $20 to the price, can be bought for the same price as Seekonk. Seekonk, while being a real good tool, also made in the U.S.A., is at least 3 times heavier and considerably bigger. I do not think most shooters want to carry several Seekonks on the mission, if they need to have more than 1 torque setting to service their equipment.

Variety of accessories included with the torque driver (MG5 kit) adds $35 premium to the price of basic MG3 kit. But if identical quality accessories are purchased separately from the vendors that may have them, they will cost, on average:

1. Autolock - $12
2. Mini ratchet - $4
3. Extension - $3
4. 18 bits made from S2 alloy - $1.50x18=$27 (McMaster)
5. 1/2" socket - $4
6. 1/4" hex to 1/4" square adapter - $1.50
7. 1/4" square to 3/8" square adapter - $3.50
8. 3/16" custom AICS bit, not available anywhere else, but
high quality long 3/16" bit price is typically $10.

Total for accessories: $65, not including separate shipping charges, as opposed to above mentioned $35 with no separate shipping charges.

So, I truly believe there is quite a bit of value here for the people...

thanks for the explanation.

I actually can get them for a great deal from brownells. I guess it could be the fact that I don't utilize such a tool often enough. And when I do, I'm home and just the wrench I already own along with the bits.

Don't get me wrong please, it's an awesome product. But for some people like myself, I guess it's too premium.

Gotta pay to play though.

Re: Where to buy a good inch/pound torque wrench

I understand what you're saying. My product line has a specific purpose to serve the needs of the precision shooters who typically carry tools with them and/or work with guns relatively often. For one time or very occasional need to apply controlled tightening torque to critical fasteners, like in your case, there are certainly other alternatives.

I just wanted to use the opportunity the provide some price and value related points, to help potential customers decide if they want to take a look at my offerings.
