I do not know how it could have been in contact with the side of the stock, just the bottom behind the trigger guard. It is an accustock and it sheered off flush with the action.

Re: SHWW Group

Sounds like the action screw was taking the recoil instead of the recoil lug... I'd say a quick skim bedding up around the recoil lug area couldn't hurt and may very likely 'fix' the problem. The action screws should never, ever be submitted to the full force of recoil from any caliber, much less a .338LM. Not a design flaw of the screws, just a stock that doesn't fit quite right.

Re: SHWW Group

If the lug isn't taking the recoil like it should, he is very, VERY lucky that the only thing that broke was the screw. I'm glad he wasn't hurt.

Re: SHWW Group

Alrighty then- I'm selling a Nightforce and want to give local 'hiders first chance.
5.5-22, NPR-1, MOA/MOA, ZS; sitting in Warne Maxima rings with bubble level. It's been on exactly one rifle, so if there are any ring marks they're under the rings. Have box, manual, bikini cover.

It's now listed in the "Optics For Sale" thread.

Re: SHWW Group

Yeah... definitely not a Good Thing. Not something you ever want to see/experience, but not unheard of with factory rifles (not exclusive to Savage by any means) or even with botched home bedding jobs.

I'm guessing Savage will make things right, or like I said, having it bedded locally should alleviate the issue. If it has that AccuStock chassis though, I'm not sure how well traditional 'bedding' will work with that kind of setup, as I haven't torn apart a LRH to see which version of the accustock it has.

Re: SHWW Group

I'm going to take it into Benchmark on Monday and have them look at it. If they say it's the stock, then I'll contact Savage.

Plus it's a good excuse to take my Remington in and have them put a muzzle brake on it.

Re: SHWW Group

Quarter Circle 42 is announcing the 1st annual Shoot Move and Communicate competition. The match will take place on the 30th of June – July 1st 2012. The competitor will be required (once they receive their destination information) to move out and get to their target area in a timely manner. Once the competitor has reached his intended position he will request to shoot that stage of fire. Prior to firing, the RO will confirm the team’s number and what point they just came from. Based on that information, the RO will either allow them to shoot (if they are at the proper stage) or move them along to the stage (showing up to the wrong stage of fire will cost points) that they should have gone to. GPS’s and other devices for land navigation will be allowed. All courses of fire will be provided to the shooter from the RO via mission statement. Once the mission statement has been given for that stage of fire the shooters will have limited time to read, understand and solve the problems involved to engage the targets in their sector(s) of fire. The RO at each stage will only give basic direction after the mission statement has been given. The primary function of the RO is to insure that competitors are in the proper location, monitor safety and score targets.

Competitors will be required to leave their vehicles from the initial rally point prior to the start of the competition. From there, we will trek to the camping site in order to drop all camping gear. This is not the time to set up camp. As soon as we have dropped camp we will immediately be moving a few yards to the first stage of fire. After successful completion of the first course of fire, competitors will be given their next location to move to. Once the day portion of the shoot is done all competitors will return to the camp area where they can set up their camps. All known distance targets will have an orange marker within a 10 foot radius of the target to identify the location. All un-known targets will be up to the shooter to locate range and engage. For targets that do not have a marker the shooter will be provided a compass direction (azimuth) to the target area. Each shooting station will have multiple targets in different target configurations and degrees of difficulty with some targets being partially camouflaged. It will be the responsibility of the shooting team to locate, range, identify, and engage each target within a time limit to accumulate a score.

You will be put into two man teams in order to keep the match moving along. However, the scoring will be individual. Teams will be expected to have everything that they intend to shoot, move and communicate with on them. Once the event starts you will be headed to your next stage of fire.

There will be a pre-sign in Friday June 29th 2012 at approx 1800. If you show up the day of the shoot to sign in you will need to be signed in by 0700 on the morning of June 30th 2012. Failure to sign in on time will result in a DQ. Directions will be provided to all competitors who send in their registration forms.

Once the safety brief has been given there will be no further opportunity to obtain any additional gear from your vehicles, from other shooters, spectators or by-standards of any kind. You dance with the date you brought!!

Match Location / Date.
The match is scheduled for Saturday, June 30th - July 1st 2012. The location for this match will near Wilber, WA. Directions will be sent to each competitors email address once the registration form has been received. All forms must be in by close of business Pacific Standard Time by May 30th 2012.

Match Fee’s.
The Match fees will be $225.00 USD per shooter.

All competitors must be signed in prior to the safety brief @ 0800 the day of the match. If competitors fail to sign in by 0700 June 30th 2012 applicants from the waiting list will be called forward to fill your slot. Due to the nature of this match and difficulty of set up there will be no refunds given once the registration has been sent in. Failure to sign in on the given times will result in a forfeiture of your entry fee.

Accommodations.
All competitors must stay in the field during the match. Other accommodations are remote but can be found in and around the city of Wilber, WA. During the shoot if you pack it in you pack it out. Do not leave any target indicators (trash, human waste or other rubbish that would tie you to the trash you left behind) on the range. Re: SHWW Group

Kick ass comp, wish I was home to give it a Whirl! Maybe with some luck I will be home by then and a spot will magically appear out of no where. You all have fun on this one.

Re: SHWW Group

Anyone want to split a room Friday & Saturday Nights for the FSC? I've got a double room w/ queen beds reserved @ Super 8, & continental breakfast provided. (70 bucks total for the 2 nights )

Re: SHWW Group

Website is almost complete! Here's a little teaser picture for you guys... thanks for the pictures everyone, more will probably be added.

At this point looking at a June 1 opening date. Still have product orders to make and A LOT of other things to do! Things are coming along nicely though! Also got in the works a class 3 SOT and suppressor dealer program with a company I think you guys will REALLY like but won't be added until a few months after startup... ;-)

Sorry TeamSendit, I don't have a video camera. </div></div>

Thanks! You guys will definitely know. I should have a banner on here somewhere at that time as well...

Looking at a June 1 opening date if my final paperwork goes through with ATF. Also looking at a deal to start producing custom bolt guns at an affordable price with no sacrifice to workmanship or accuracy. Probably a few months down the road but plans are in the works...

Re: SHWW Group

Well i have one spot open up for FSC 2012 so if anyone knows somebody that is interested in coming to the match this weekend have them contact me

Re: SHWW Group

I would love to go, but a buddy I used to work with just offered to give me 4 cans full of military 308 ball if I come pick it up. He found it when cleaning out his storage unit, and doesn't have anything to shoot it in. I think the cases are the ones that have 420 rounds each...plus he has another can of once fired brass... That is simply too good an offer to pass up, so I'm driving to the Portland gun show.

Now I gotta figure out something to give him in return.

Re: SHWW Group

Unknown, I work near the expo center in Portland, and I will be at the match Saturday. I'd be willing to haul your ammo if you'd like.

Re: SHWW Group

Oltman,
You get full credit for the most kind offer, but the guy is my former partner from work, and I would enjoy seeing him even if it weren't for the ammo. The ammo just makes an even better deal. He will be down there visiting his kids, so it is a half way point for us....(He lives on an 80,000 acre ranch over in Eastern Oregon..sage rat heaven in the spring).

Thanks very much for the offers fellows, I really do appreciate it.

As a result, we won't have to watch where we step quite so much, if we get a little off the beaten path.

Re: SHWW Group

To anyone going to the shoot - Does anyone have an extra spotter/tripod laying around that they could bring for the RO's to use? I have a spotter but to say the least it is not the best and I don't think you shooters want me calling hits or misses with a shitty spotter

yours is already loaded up and will be there however it is always better to have extra spotters rather than not enough so if you own a half descent spotter please bring it.

Re: SHWW Group

I have an extra spotting scope, and two tripods...one short bench one, and a taller camera type one. If you want to use 'em I can send them over with Broker. Let me know. Broker has my phone number, or I'll pm or email the phone number to you if you want.

Not to derail the FSC chatter.....but here's the signup form for the next NCW Gun Club monthly rifle match happening May 6, 2012. This will be pretty much the last chance to get things squared away before the Kettle Falls match.

Round count will be 50-60 and shooting will plan to start at 10am. Since the racetrack will be running on Saturday evening/night, the late start will allow setup to happen on Sunday morning. Re: SHWW Group

Scott, I couldn't agree more, but I will add your name to Jim's and Jessie's, and I would also like to add Jeff for his matches.
