Seekins or Badger

I'm about to purchase a 20moa base for my Remington 5R .308. I'm wondering if the seekins 1913 spec billet aluminum with the type 3 hard coat anodize will be sufficient. My second option is the badger ordnance 1913 spec steel base. I was told to go with the steel base by a friend, but if I can save a few pennies and get an equal or nearly equal product...then why not? Is this opening up a can of worms thats already been eaten? If so, direct me to the original thread that I couldn't find in the search box. Thanks for the help/input.

I am pretty much in the same boat right now...and I currently have a thread with the same sort of discussion going on. So far, the way things are going it seems that Seekins has superb quality and tight tolerances and are very well made.

Badger also has superb quality, tight tolerances, and are very well made. Badger also has LE/MIL contracts and are built like a tank.

From what I've gathered from my thread is: If you want something that will be good for a duty rifle, go Badger. All other purposes, Seekins.

Either one will be fine. If you're not in a hurry then pick one up in the classifieds on here. If you need it yesterday then go through a vendor.

They are both great products. The seekins is pretty flawless. I just put one on my m24. I was also skeptical. but once i had it in my hands and saw the quality + the nice recoil lug and 8X40's i was sold. Buy with confidence. also it will help you save a few for some nice rings.

You will not go wrong with either. Do not be afraid of getting the Seekins. They are made as well or better than any of the other offerings out there including badger. Glen's stuff is top notch. You will prob also save a couple of dollars getting the seekins rail.

I went with Seekins. I was looking to shave weight. Never looked back.

Both are great products. Glens rings are about half again wider than standard badgers. They also are much lighter in weight. I personal like the wider footprint hanging onto my scope. I have both but really prefer the Seekins. I am looking for a 1" 34mm right now if you have a pair handy!

How about these fine bases from TPS, Ive got a set, use the TPS rings, too. And theyre much less expensive than the others.

I have a buddy who had tps on his 300wm, non braked and they would not hold his Nightforce under the heavy recoil. They seem to be ok on low recoil rifles but his experience certainly made me stick to the really good stuff on heavy recoil rifles.

I find that hard to believe, someone is doing something wrong, and I dont think its the TPS rings, it doesnt take much torque to hold down a scope in any caliber. Id like to see a pic of his setup with the TPS rings to see if there's a very small gap between the 2 ring halves, if not id say the scope tube is too small or the rings were made wrong, and I dont believe either happened, Im putting on my barn boots now, wink.
