I recently had a rifle built with a 4 grove Krieger 11 twist barrel and 95 palma chamber.

Been working with the 155 scenar to the point that I was giving up on it, poor accuracy. I am using N140 and was up to about 45.5 - 45.7 grs and working .005 to .010 into the lands. Pretty stout loads and accuracy was not good.

Went to the range the other day with the last 50 155 scenars I ever intended to put through the gun, however, just for kicks, I lowered my charge to 45.2 and seated the bullet just off the lands.

Big change,...I was shooting at 500 yds at a F class 500 reduced target and scored a 99-4. Not too bad considering I am still learning to drive the gun.

I have never experienced such an abrupt change in accuracy by only reducing the charge by 3 - 5 grs and reducing the seating depth.

I think I may have to give the 155 scenars another chance.

Re: Changed Load - Very Revealing

so all of your load development was done between 45.5-45.7 grains? why did you pick those numbers to focus on?

FWIW- many of the guys around here including myself, are jumping the 155 scenars about .005

Re: Changed Load - Very Revealing

No not all at 45.5 - 45.7,..I had been moving the load around for awhile with no good luck. When I reduced the load just a bit and back out of the lands,..it made a world of difference.

I had just never seen a load turn around like this, but I've not been doing this very long either.

I did take the load out to a 1000 yd Ft. Knox match a week or so back and I think it did okay. I say it that way because it was my first time out to a 1000 and the wind was a bitch. So, my personal performance combined with the wind probably wasn't good enough to draw too many conclusions about the load.

I've never jumped a bullet that far before. The next match to a 1000 I'm planning to take some 185 Berger Hybrids I've got loaded up with some RL15 & .005 off the lands. I've only worked the load at 200 yards but it shot pretty damned good. I chrony'ed it at about 2750.
