Thanks again! </div></div>
Cool I'm glad it helped.

Just the trigger spring on mine was night and day- dropped weight to ~3 LBS (from ~5), and felt like an M110 trigger.

Re: LMT .308 MWS

I too just did the trigger spring swap out. It's real nice! :)
I'll touch base after I shoot it. I'm sure the groups will tighten up.

Re: LMT .308 MWS

Problem with reduced springs is the slooooooooow lock time. You could go eat lunch before the hammer hits the primer.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Griffin Armament</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Figured it was worth adding this to the Long LMT MWS thread. My gun at 100meters was pretty tough to shoot prior to this modification- AKA squeezing the trigger the reticles wobble zone was about .3 MOA easilly (with a rear bag). This reduced pull weight by 29.5%. That should help.

I tested pretravel weight of my LMT MWS trigger- it was 44 ounces...

So I tested the pull weight. 68 ounces. 4.25 lbs. I shotgunned the MWS and discovered the previous owner had assembled the trigger spring in an abnormal way to take some weight off it. (This explains 4.25lbs as opposed to 5-6lbs which is more normal as far as I know.

<span style="font-weight: bold">Anyway-</span>

I pulled out my JP trigger kit with the (reduced weight yellow trigger spring only) figuring 44 ounces of pretravel weight is excessive (2/3's of the total pull weight) . The trigger spring's job is only to return the trigger forward. So it doesn't need to be several pounds- it just has to get the job done.

The trigger pull weight dropped instantly to 48 ounces. (3 lbs) This with the trigger spring installed properly as intended.

Now it feels really good- as good or better than my memory of my M110 trigger in the military. And there is a very discernable second stage. I didn't measure the pretravel, but it might be 20 ounces now.

You can get the trigger spring here. <span style="font-weight: bold"> $10 for a trigger that has to be as good as some of the several hundred dollar options out there. </span> </div></div>

Re: LMT .308 MWS

Rifle ordered a month ago

Sling two weeks ago

Tac Ops Bag one week ago

Atlas, Spuhr, Schmidt and Bender yesterday

Amount of money in the toys account $0.00

Who will get the goods delivered faster S&B or LMT?

I dont know if I bought a rifle that I'm attaching a scope to or a scope that I'm accesorizing with a rifle.

Re: LMT .308 MWS

Anyone have a suppressor for the LMT 308 MWS? I dont know to much about them since I live in Illinois and they are not allowed here. But I plan on moving soon to indiana and getting myself one. So would like to know whats good and what works with the LMT.

Re: LMT .308 MWS

Here is my MWS as it sits today, future plans are a trigger upgrade and possibly a Slash buffer...

Here is what it did this past weekend

DSC_1133.jpg

As the notes say: 5 shots, 100 yards, FGMM 7.62, 175 grain, no rear bag...the grids on the target are 1/2' x 1/2"

The rifle likes 175 grain bullets, when shooting 168 Grain FGMM the spread opens about 1/8".

I am very satisfied with this rifle, it is a keeper

Re: LMT .308 MWS

Thats some good shooting. Nice setup too. Which barrel do you have? Whats the deal with those slash buffers. I here a lot of guys using them. Whats the benefit to them?

Re: LMT .308 MWS

The barrel is the standard 16" CL that comes with the rifle.

The Slash Buffer is just a thought now, getting a little more mass behind the bolt. The recoil is not an issue, I was thinking to do this to tame a little of the LMT over gassing.

My most accurate load is 155 scenars in a lapua case, 46 grains of varget, cci br2 primer, seated at 2.850 oal (0.020 jump to the lands in my 16" cl barrel).
You need Kac, larue, or modified p-mags to seat that long, of course.

Shoots .25moa tighter than any of my 175smk loads.

Re: LMT .308 MWS

I tried the yellow trigger return spring out today. Worked like a champ on 147 grain Winchester Q3130. Fired every time. So much nicer pull.

Thanks for the range report on the JP trigger spring.

Slash buffers are awesome IMO...get one. My next mod will be the yellow JP return spring upgrade.

Re: LMT .308 MWS

If you guys had your choice, what suppressor do you think would work best the MWS? I've heard great things about TBAC 30P-1, but I guess its not suited well for high rates of fire. Opinions?

Re: LMT .308 MWS

Has anybody put the calipers to an MWS to determine the precise distance from bore to rail height on standard factory 16 CL barrel?

I put the heavy (totally Stainless steel?) buffer in my PRS stock. I really like it.

Here is a 200 fps video of my LMT shooting 168g FGMM with the buffer in it. (go to 0:48 for action cycling)

LMT MWS at 200 fps

I haven't posted the video, but there was a guy shooting a custom 6.5 AR10 rifle and his rifle cycled in half the time as mine. I got mine mainly because I want to run it suppressed, and I do think the LMT MWS are over gassed, especially the 16CL barrel.

If I am looking at it right, the gun cycles in 6 frames for a 0.03 cycle time.

This dog will hunt.

Re: LMT .308 MWS

Thanks for posting the video. Can you please send me a link of the actual buffers you guys are using? Can I use this buffer with both the Socom stock and the PRS stock?

Re: LMT .308 MWS

16" 308 cut to 14.5"... planning on 130 grain MK319 as a more efficient load for it. While I took photos with scope and bipod am planning to drop them both (zeroed for Noveske 6.5CM) and zero an aimpoint (possibly a acog or eclan at some point).

Re: LMT .308 MWS

I have an MWS on order and have a question concerning sling mounting.

If I want to use my sling for support prone/sitting is there a flush cup on the bottom of the rail to except the QD swivel?

Is a rail grabber flush cup or similar needed to get the sling at the bottom of the rail?

Thanks in advance for helping a newbe.

Re: LMT .308 MWS

Its a Law Tactical folding stock adapter. Can't shoot with it open but good for transport. Seems solid and I like the versatility so far. I swapped an Imod stock on because don't need quite as much extra length with the naturally longer sopmod.

Hows that working out for you running your MWS upper on a KAC?

It's tight / have to tap in the rear pin but working great. I like that the eargos match my standard ARs with a lever (that I had to dremmel a bit). I have set aside the unfired SR25 match upper and carrier in case I ever decide to sell the entire gun on. Needed the pre-ban lower to have large format freedom in CT.

That makes total sense right now, sorry dude. At times I forget the freedoms I enjoy that many others don't. At least you're able to do what must be done.

Dude, your state has some jacked up laws. Only preban lowers but you can have a can? I hate politicians

Re: LMT .308 MWS

Has anybody got the mv for Winchester Q3130 147gr FMJ in a standard CL16 inch barrel. I have not had the chance to cronograph it yet but it seemed a lot faster than my match load.

Re: LMT .308 MWS

Just installed the JP yellow trigger spring! I don't have a trigger pull gauge, but it feels a lot better. I also don't think it's even possible to have light primer strikes after doing this mod because the factory hammer spring is retained. Thanks for putting this out there Griffin Armament!

It should be around 2700fps. I didnt chronograph it. But I was shooting it and according to the drop it should be right at 2700.

Re: LMT .308 MWS

I just got mine last weekend. I cleaned her up and shot a couple of groups to BZO the sights. Scope and accessories are coming soon....

Re: LMT .308 MWS

Lead time check.

I'm on week 9 of 12 and not very optimistic my FDE MWS .308 will be in on time due to the pre-election rush.

Anyone get one recently and have an experience that would provide me some optimism?

Re: LMT .308 MWS

I am on week 10 of 12-14. My dealer originally placed my order for an MWS with 18" SS barrel on 3/24 and was quoted 12-14 weeks. He called LMT last week to check status of the order and was quoted the first of July for mine to be built. I am not sure of current lead time though. We'll see whether or not it arrives in July as quoted...

We have similar orders than. My order was made late March with expectations of delivery by LMT end of June.

I havent wanted to bug the shop, it will be here when it gets here.

I'm with ya there. The dealer took it upon himself to call. I was surprised when he emailed to tell me. I think he really just wanted to make sure I was still interested after two months, but it was nice to get an update.

Re: LMT .308 MWS

If you don't mind me asking, what is so special about your order to wait that long, instead of buying off of one of the (unnamed) auction sites?

I often wonder about this as well. I got mine from arf.com and am happy. Perhaps there is some military /LE discount?

If you are directing your question to me, I could not find exactly what I was looking for. Lots of 16" chrome lined available but I wanted an 18" stainless. I also got what I think is a pretty smoking deal from a semi-local dealer ($3000 out the door) and I get to support a local small business.

Re: LMT .308 MWS

Bought mine over the counter a couple of months ago. Just a black, run-of-the-mill, gun with 16" barrel. Hope to be able to actually shoot it some soon but work has been very busy.

Re: LMT .308 MWS

FYI I ordered my rifle at the end of January... I now was informed LAST monday that it shipped from LMT... still no confirmation number or anything else from my dealer.

Yes... its been half a damn year, and I still don't have my rifle.
18" stainless.
