Mosin with PSO-1, slight cant issue

Hello to everyone at the Hide.

My little summer project last year was a 91/30 with a PSO-1 side mount that allowed for the use of a Romanian LPS Tip-2 scope. Things went swimmingly and it shoots great after some trigger work, free-floating and bedding, grouping in a tight 1" cluster with Romanian surplus and a little bigger with Russian.

The problem I'm having is that my scope rail is canted veeeery slightly, offsetting the scope by a degree or two. My question is, will this significantly affect the usability of the rifle at longer ranges?

Here's some pis of ol' Ugly.

How far is "barely" off mean? One degree at 600 yards would be six inches right? Just saying. Had my newest Mosin m91/30 out this morning, its a 1940 Tula, and had no problems keeping it center mass on a B-27 target at 200 yards. (Irons) What power is that scope of yours?

Re: Mosin with PSO-1, slight cant issue

Looking at your setup, Is the cant in a downward position? If so, it may not be too much of a problem, as long as you can get a decent zero. 1 degree is about 60 moa of cant though. So you will have to check at the range.

Hopefully the tube is true to the receiver and bore, if the scope is not true, you may hit all day at your zero, but be off at longer and shorter distances.

Re: Mosin with PSO-1, slight cant issue

If it's canted left to right, I believe you can remove the screws that attach the mount to the locking mechanism and put a shim between the two. I've never done it myself, but have seen similar discussions in SVD/PSL circles. Also, does this scope sit centered over the bore like an original 91/30 sniper scope, or is it offset to the left, like on the PSL? If it's offset, this could also have a negative effect, especially at longer ranges.

Nevermind guys, got it worked out after some time with a level and a plumb bob. I'm pretty sure it was just me... anyways, I'll try it at long range sometime and we'll see if I'm right. Thanks for the help!
