Suppressors All you guys with Cans

Re: All you guys with Cans

I'm sure when I get my TBAC it will never come off

Same thing. Some times it isn't worth throwing the suppressor on when you are just out shooting at the range or popping off some woodchucks. I throw on ear muffs and leave the suppressor at home.

My CED timer with sensitivity set right in the middle picks up fine. I used my M4-2000 once, and the RO got closer at the end of the stage just to make sure, but had no problems. It did put me in open class, however, because it is deemed a recoil reducing device and larger than 1x3 inches. If you don't mind open class, give it a go!

Re: All you guys with Cans

Since I got my suppressor I haven't fired a single shot through it without the suppressor on it. I don't bother going to a state to shoot if I can use it, and in Missouri we can hunt with 'em. The only time I take it off is to clean the rifle.

I don't even know what my zero is without the suppressor. When I first got it, I noticed that I didn't have to adjust my scope for a zero. I thought that either my zero for unsuppressed got jacked up, and luckily was dead on for the suppressor. Either way, it worked out for me.

Re: All you guys with Cans

I did all the paperwork, paid all the money, waited many months. I didn't do all that just to let it sit in the safe!

Re: All you guys with Cans

I find my YHM 7.62 QD too long & cumbersome to shoot regularly. POI shift sucks too, and I don't need the extra variables for shooting precision long range. Mine is a tool that is there if I need it, and so far, my $20.00 earmuffs have kept my suppressor in the safe. If I were concerned about dust signature or quick follow up shots in a life or death situation, then it would be worth every penny. I even got on the .300 Whisper train to take advantage of owning a .30 cal suppressor, only to find that the internal construction of the suppressor is more functional for suppressing high pressure supersonic rounds, rather than quieting subsonic rounds below an abnoxious pop. I would thoroughly research your options and assess your needs before dropping the coin. If I had it to do over, I would get a 9mm or .45 suppressor specifically for short range stealth hammering, and let the muzzle brakes tame the precision rifles, while wearing ear protection.
I want to sing the praises of my financial sacrifice, but my practical side won't stand for it.

Re: All you guys with Cans

I'm forced to shoot without a can at work. How barbaric! ha! I only take my suppressors off to clean and oil the threads.

Re: All you guys with Cans

I'm in for my first can this fall. My work guns use a surefire on my long gun and a knights on the little one. Yea I feel like I can't shoot without them. I'm looking forward to having one on my personal gun.

Re: All you guys with Cans

I have never even seen a suppressor, let alone fired through one. Heil Kalifornia! I cant even get my department to buy one for work, but they'll spend 5K a year for "Hearing protection awareness and testing". I hate my state.

ItheS: I really feel for you, I left in California in 2005 after working on an exit strategy for >10 years (most of my adult life really) and am so much happier to live in a free-er state. You can do it, make a plan, execute it, and you will be relieved when you cross the Event Horizon. :)

Re: All you guys with Cans

Like JSTARSZ said, just about every time you will have to answer several questions regarding your can,how much it cost, and almost always the "is it legal"

Re: All you guys with Cans

Every several years, when I can get the C.U.S.S.R. to approve my travel papers, I get to visit the US. I love it. If I get the chance, I will live in Montana. And I will marry a round American woman and raise rabbits, and she will cook them for me. And I will have a pickup truck... maybe even a "recreational vehicle." And drive from state to state. Do they let you do that?

Re: All you guys with Cans

Ha, too bad you will be shot on a submarine before that happens!

I don't mean to be insulting, but this is not a good example as the standard YHM QD .30 cal can is big, loud, and cheap. Their titanium .30 cal can is actually pretty nice and compares well (in my experience) with AAC cyclone, 762SD, and 762SDN-6.

Re: All you guys with Cans

I shoot as much as possible with my cans. I do as much as I can to protect my hearing. Makes life more enjoyable to hear as much as I can.

Re: All you guys with Cans

You show up without a can on with some of the guys I shoot and hunt with you better be ready to get punched in the face.

Re: All you guys with Cans

I suppress everything I can to protect my hearing and to be more polite to fellow shooters and neighbors around me.

If you think the YHM SS Phantom is loud..... you need to turn your hearing aids down.

Agreed

Re: All you guys with Cans

Hey I had a buddy that just had a simialer issue and it was because he was hitting the baffling with the bullet, this was on a factory savage 10 supposedly sometimes when the barrel is installed at a factory like Remington or Savage Arms the bore isnt perfectly centered to the barrel therefore causing muzzle accesories to get struck by the bullet on exit.

Re: All you guys with Cans

nope its a drug. started shooting suppressed three years ago and never looked back.

Thats a fact!!

Re: All you guys with Cans

I've only put about 10 rounds through the can because the POI shifted down a few inches. The 762SND-6 was between teeth on the mount and the POI shifted down a bit. I've since machined the seating area on the brake so the can has nice tight lockup. I'll be trying it again soon. From the shooter position it sounds like a pellet gun! I wonder where the sonic boom was.

You will shoot with it all the time.

Seriously. The only time I shoot without one is when I'm using a magnetospeed, and that's only until I get busy and build myself an adapter.

Re: All you guys with Cans

I recently went back to no can on a 308. Once in a while I would get that unexplainable flyer! Plus don't care for the mirage; tried covers but after 5 or 6 rounds it started again. I do have to admit they are fun and have their applications though!

Me too! never shoot without it, till I have to go to the P.R.C.

Re: All you guys with Cans

I just got my 1st one a month ago. (Sparrow) Now I'm trying to figure out how to get 3 more in different calibers. =)

Re: All you guys with Cans

You'll never want to shoot without it. I'll shoot my pistols that I suppress and my AR15s without a can sometimes, but not my bolt gun.

Re: All you guys with Cans

must agree, I'm getting ready to buy #2 and 3. Everybody I know has purchased at least a 2nd.

Re: All you guys with Cans

I shot suppressed at the range just listen to the difference, of course I had to keep my ears on but whatever. I don't suppress at the range any longer, I let my bitches scream.

Re: All you guys with Cans

TN lets you hunt with them. I pretty much am suppressed 100% on rifles and Pistols i do when in not training. Can't get a good holster for one.

Re: All you guys with Cans

Now that you can hunt game animals in TX suppressed it never gets fired naked.

Re: All you guys with Cans

My only c/o is that i have rifles with unthreaded barrels still and I've had 25 barrels threaded. won't shoot anything unsuppressed if i can help!

Re: All you guys with Cans

Hey bronzepig, is there a good place around KC to get a barrel threaded? I wasn't real happy with the last one I had done.
