Surefire breaks are cool and i'm guessing they work as good as they look but what's the point of cutting the barrel to 18.5 and then adding 4"?????

It only adds 1.5" (no more than any other brake) as the remainder slips over the barrel.

Also convenient when you dept goes with sf cans!

That is a very fine looking rifle JerseyMike. Congratulations.

Thanks everyone.

As far as the ionbond is concerned, ive noticed that it retains lubrication very well, even when you wipe it off. The ionbond just sucks it up and it stays put. Fwiw im using mobil 1 full syn 1030

First of all Beautiful rifle looks like a shooter, how do you like the surefire brake? I have been loving the PWS PRC i have but was also looking at the surefire brakes.

Re: New Wolf Precision 18.5 308 build (pics)

nice looking build...I am also really interested in his new BAT actions. I am sure someone on here will have one in no time and will be posting it up..lol

Re: New Wolf Precision 18.5 308 build (pics)

Very nice rifle. Any plans on painting the barreled action?

Re: New Wolf Precision 18.5 308 build (pics)

I love the sf brake, would be better once we get our cans. Reduces recoil efficiently. I have one on my 300wm as well

Probably not, i actually like the look of the blasted stainless barrel. Maybe once it gets a little old i may bomb it with krylon, but we'll see

I got to fondle one at his shop and those things are built like a tank, the bolt is extremely smooth, and thats brand new without any lube.

Re: New Wolf Precision 18.5 308 build (pics)

Outstanding! This should be a model for all those wanting to build their first (second or third) tactical rifle.

It looks like you swapped the Badger M5 for PT&G. May I ask why? I have no experience with the Badger M5, but the PT&G is solid.

Re: New Wolf Precision 18.5 308 build (pics)

I like the magazine well way better on the PTG. Also the fact you can rest your hand on the mag without the bolt binding up when you cycle it. At the price point and quality you cant beat it.

Kind of a 'where are they now' follow up to this thread...

A close friend of mine acquired this rifle from Mike last year. Soon afterwards we did some horse trading and I ended up with it.

After sitting in my safe for months, last week I finally had an opportunity to run some rounds down range. No question, it shoots! But...I've been bitten by the .260 bug and this rifle is the perfect candidate for a barrel swap. So, last Thursday I dropped it off with Aaron Roberts to have a .260 22" Bartlein barrel installed.

Don't worry, Mike, I'll take good care of her!

People always wonder what happened to their old rifles, so why not share..?

I had the barrel replaced with a 22" Bartlein 5R chambered in .260. Three months ago the .260 barrel was removed and recut to fit a GAP Tempest action.

Recently I torqued the .308 barrel back onto the Wolf modified R700 and soon the whole rifle will go on the auction block. Everything is still in place from the original build, except for the Huber Concepts trigger and the Surefire brake. I believe Mike installed the Huber Concepts trigger before selling the rifle.
