Manners MCS-T4A, Mini Chassis, Accurate Mag 300 Win Mag supplied.

Patriot Brown metal with Black Accents.

Thanks for looking.

You'll will love the .284 trust me. I think mine and Marks personal .284 were the first 2 .284's to leave his shop and they are absolute hammers. Everyone I know that has a SAC .284 absolutely loves them!

Thanks Flounder. I am really looking forward to shooting this gun in the near future.

Thats a very well thought out build , the only mod to that I would do , is I would have used the folding version of Manners stock .

Very nice .

Re: SAC: 284 Surgeon L/A Manners MCS-T4A

Mark builds a hell of a rifle. After 2 shots to sight in the Nightforce it was shoot/ clean/ shoot/ clean/ ect. After the all the initial break-in BS was done I shot some groups. 58.5 and 58.8 grains of 4831sc with the 162's seem to be the sweet spot for this rifle. I left my budy's crony in the other car so I have no real speed data. Judging from my shots to 225 yds (range limit) I am in the high 2900's but I will need to confirm over the weekend. Rifle is a solid 1/2 MOA shooter without a suppressor/ break. Guilty confession: I have become recoil sensitive wimp shooting a 6.5x47L so I will need to work on that with the bigger 7mm. Should have the Thunderbeast in September which should help the recoil issue.

Yeh, I am excited about this this build- I can't wait to start shooting some comps with this gun. Also, I can't say enough good things about Mark Gordon-He was a solid dude throughout the whole build process.

You should really load develop this rifle at 300 yards. Shows you more performance characteristics.

Re: SAC: 284 Surgeon L/A Manners MCS-T4A

I am limited to 225 yds at my local range which it shot outstanding. I am taking this bad boy out to 1300 at 100 yd increments on Saturday at TVP. I should get solid dope out of the trip. I think 600 is a better benchmark than 300.

I disagree. I was always told 300 yards was the place to do your load development. There is just enough distance to test the weapons true accuracy and deviation. But at 600 a lot more comes into play, wind and mirage being the 2 biggest hurdles.

As far as I am concerned, load development is done. 600 is a range to confirm dope from JBM (3.2 mils).Unless I experience some anomalies at 300, 600, or 1000 yds, I feel this rifle is ready for steel. This is what has worked for me in the past. Mark said the barrel will speed up so perhaps I will try your 300 yd test in the near future. I just bought this thing to jack up steel at longer ranges-I am simple that way.

Re: SAC: 284 Surgeon L/A Manners MCS-T4A

I'd really like to sling a few rounds with it. The 284 interests me, and that's a beautiful rig.

Saturday I'll be making sure I have a good zero and velocity. Gonna shoot at Rayners on Sunday.

Re: SAC: 284 Surgeon L/A Manners MCS-T4A

That's a sweet rifle, and a very well balanced cartridge.

Lucky for you the 162amax shoots nice, only 1 of 4 7mms I've worked with will shoot them worth a damn.

One thought, however...

You may wanna consider giving H4350 a whirl. Should take much less than 59gr to get you to 2950ish, and it's probable you can pick up some speed with it too, in that short(ish) 284 barrel. When I tested H4831sc/162amax in a 26" tube, velocity peaked around 2875 with 55gr, and just wouldn't go faster, though muzzle blast sure increased.

Then again, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Just a thought.
