Cheap People

Re: Cheap People

As Nancy Reagan said: "Just say no". And hell yes they are being cheap.

When I make a good offer on something that I think is very fair, I call out cheap asses for being cheap when I'm trying to be fair. I'll ask them if there is something they find distasteful about a deal that is fair to both parties.

Make your picture large enough to see enough detail and to allow you to write on the picture without obstructing the view of your take-offs and the two tires and wheels on one side of your Rover. I just print the picture on a piece of 8x11 regular white paper and write on the open space...

Take a copy of your picture to the parts department at Land Rover and ask them how much per rim. Write the amount on the front of the picture somewhere, have the service or parts department stamp the dealer logo next to the written price. They've gotta have something with the dealer name on a rubber stamp--a "Paid" stamp, anything with the the dealer name will work.

Go to a Michelin dealer and ask for a written tire-purchase estimate.

Donate the tire/wheel package to Goodwill or Salvation Army. At tax time, deduct the total amount of the value as proven by your picture and tire estimate. Include a copy of the estimate and picture with your tax filing as proof of value. (Don't forget to include a copy of the Salvation Army/Goodwill receipt you got for the donation.) The picture proves you acquired the tires and wheels when you bought your Rover and that you've replaced them.

I've done this 5 times on 5 different vehicles over the years. Never any problem. It actually worked out to "about" 34% tax credit (that'll depend on your tax bracket). That is to say, it's the "same" as a .34 x $5000 refund, but you'll have to wait til next year to recoup the money. If you know your tax bracket, multiply it by $5G's to figure out your refund credit. </div></div>

Best advice to the OP and it was cheap!

Due to two things!

1.) You didn't get the tires an rims you wanted when you ordered the 80K sows ear so who's the cheap SOB? LOL!

2.) You guessed it, those tires and rims don't fit ol' Billy Bobs Nissan so demand probably ain't all that great. Therefore you can only ask what the market will bear. Let's say you are in the 27 percent tax bracket, those 5K rims and tires just saved you $1350.

Again I'll ask, Who is being cheap? LOL!</div></div>

And to take it one step further, when they put them up for sale for $50 at the Goodwill store, buy them back and then sell them!

Re: Cheap People

It sounds stupid but it's not about the money despite the fact it is about the money. IMHO for many folks it's more a "psychological" issue than a financial one. Again, I say many not all folks. Most individuals when purchasing "anything" have a very distorted understanding of the amount of profit built into any product. For instance, I have 290 employees and a business that generates about $15 mil per/yr in GROSS revenues. I cannot tell you how many times in the past 18 years an employee of mine became aware of how much money flows into the company and IMMEDIATELY concluded that number represented our profit. They seemed incapable of drawing into their consciousness the obvious fact that any company has expenses - for instance the money they receive in their paychecks..LOL. Of course, once implanted in their brains it provides justification for all types of entitled demands/expectations. Other folks approach buying/selling as a competition with an eventual winner and loser. If they can get you to move off a price you seem committed to they feel they've won. And, in a world where so many people are experiencing less and less control/freedom this is a satisfying feeling. Someone early on in this thread made what I believe is "the" most important reference and that is KNOW THE TRUE VALUE of what you are selling (true value may go beyond just the dollars and cents "value"). Priced accordingly, your product will then sell. The issue more times than not is not the buyer's unwillingness to pay the wanted price, but the seller's impatience in waiting for an educated buyer to see his/her advertisement.

Re: Cheap People

USED tires are USED tires, if you drove your vehicle home, they are USED tires.

Honestly, knowing you posted FACTORY stuff, I'd have bid $1200 as well. Because there are other people out there selling that might think "He's offering and I'm selling and it's not a big deal".

I do it all the time, it's called bartering/negotiating.

They're only worth what people are willing to pay and if more than one person offered $1200, that's what they're worth.

Not to mention you could probably get new wheels cheaper than that so why would anyone pay over what a custom wheel costs for a factory wheel?

Tough economy but if you ask too much for something the people will let you know what it's worth!!! Happens to me all the time!

Re: Cheap People

Deleted and Done! Tired of internet argueing with strangers over stupid shit so they can feed their ego. Used to be a great place where I could learn something. Now all I learn is what narcassistic ego driven ass's that have little to no clue about shooting come here only to piss off others. Don't play that childish shit. I am not a testosterone driven teenager with something to prove. Have at it!

Re: Cheap People

Ok, so everyone go out to Wal-Mart, Best Buy, grocery store etc., etc., and DEMAND, yes <span style="font-weight: bold">DEMAND</span> to be allowed to pay full price for sale items. Or..... perhaps you're too cheap? For cripes sake, everyone wants a good deal. Even the whiners. Sell it, don't sell it, whatever. But you know damned well it's part of the "game" and I'll bet you all have done the same damned thing at some point. Geeze, GET OVER IT!

Re: Cheap People

Deleted because I am just sick and tired of this 'internet argueing shit!!!! Seems some find issues with others stating opinions etc contrary to their beliefs and then unless you word things 'exactly' your intentions are taken for what they want, just basically to argue more and name call.

Tired of this frickin shit and used to enjoy posting and helping people here where I could. Will let those who really know about life and shooting to carry on as they see fit. Not my cup of tea anymore. Fuck It!!!!!

Re: Cheap People

im sorry but that just stupid, a tire that cost nearly 500 dollars better last for 200thou miles, wash and armorall its self and give me head.

Re: Cheap People

If it's about principle then don't sell them for less than you want. End of story.
Take off's are the way to go. I got the same thing for my truck.

Paid less for the new tires and rims than what the tires themselves would have cost in the store.

80k for a land rover, hahhaa. Over rated yuppie suv with very low reliability scores.

That is also insulting and being an bas****.

When some jack*** says "Is that best you can do?", I ask them, "How poor are you? Is that the best you can do in life?"

So your father was an inconsiderate rude bast***, you just didn't realize it. Being considerate is buying at the price it's at or not. You don't walk into a grocery store, pick something up, and ask the owner if that's the BEST he can do. Or call the company that packaged it if they can't do any better. Then call the farmer who grew it and ask him if he can do any better.

They'r not doing it for your obnoxious a**. It's not about "doing your best", you do your best at your job. Selling something is for the sellers benefit.

Asking someone if they can do better is about an insulting as haggling gets.

Deleted and Done. Tired of defending every fucking word I type with you newbie narcassistic name calling knowitalls. Only thing I learn here anymore is how fucking rude and obnoxious people are! Have Fun turning this site into a shithole of smartass's that are all mouth and ego!!!

Re: Cheap People

The worst thing is when they try to haggle you down without even looking at said item..... Truck, boat, tires, w/e! I always mark it up a few hundred more than i want (depending on what it is) figure out what my bottom dollar is and we'll go from there. But by damned come look at the sob first before your offer me a lower price.

Sold a jetski few weeks ago, guy tried to haggle me without looking, I told him my price, he agreed. Was supposed to show up with the money, never did. Sold it to another guy a couple days later for more and then he called asking if i still had it. The price is the price, if you don't like it don't pay it. You aint gonna get it for less.

Don't read/understand well do we? We're not talking about lowballing.... we're talking about haggling and trying to get the best deal you can. And I'm sure dear ol dad nor his upstanding son there never did that. Sorry, you're the only two people on the planet who always pay full asking price. Good for you.

Only reason I would put up an item for sale here or gaybay is for the entertainment value. To say the wannabees are here in force, is an understatement.

Wow. So jacking a price up beyond what is reasonable is not considered being a rude bastard?

Maybe some poor schmuck NEEDS a set of those tires and nobody else has them, he asks what's the best you can do and you get offended?

Either you sell them to him or you don't.

Two sides to that coin, if I'm the one with the money I get to walk, you get to pack tires around with you until they become worthless with age.
