Bought this from a guy recouping from divorce. DTA 338 and 308, 5-25 Premier scope, latest model and a 20 moa DTA mount, nice pelican case and 90 rounds of 338 ammo. I stole it...don't even wanna say the price.

He only lived a few blocks from my studio and we are in the same biz. Small world. No shipping and no FFL fee...we don't have to use an FFL here in Texas between Texans. Cool beans.

+1

Nice work! Nice to know there are folks like you to "steal" things from us when life sucks.

Re: dig on this....scored big time

Sweet pick up! Sucks about the guy getting a divorce (or does it!?!) But hey, a good deal is a good deal.

Re: dig on this....scored big time

Wow, looks like you got the deal of a lifetime!!!! Care to pass on a little of your good fortune (others misfortune) to me and sell me the 308 conversion for my original offer of 1K? I could use the help as I'm in the middle of a remodel on my home before winter gets here?

Re: dig on this....scored big time

Jim...you're on fire! Get that Vectronix. You'll need it now.

..and sell that .308 conversion to that nice Skeeter boy...he needs it!!

Re: dig on this....scored big time

Nice rig. Where are you gonna shoot it at? I'd like to stop by and take a look.

Re: dig on this....scored big time

All you guys saying what an asshole he is for buying it at the price he did, well you dont even know what he paid so......and if the guy didnt want to sell it he didnt have to. So I think the guy is ok in my book.

Re: dig on this....scored big time

Wow, I just reread some of the negative comments. The guy that sold the rifle bought it so he knew how much it's worth when he sold it for whatever low price he did. And it was his choice unless Blasst held a gun to his head.

So what, you see a great once in a lifetime deal but you let it pass because it's too good of a deal? I don't think so. If the guy needed money and was gonna sell it at whatever price, was no one with the means would walk away.

What a bunch of asses for blaming him for not walking away from a deal whatever it was. I mean really, you judge a person w/o even knowing that he did anything wrong. That's an a$$hole in all it's glory.

Re: dig on this....scored big time

I`ve been in this same situation. My buddy was getting a divorce....I loaned him what his gun was worth....kept the gun.1 year later he was back on his feet...payed what I loaned him... got his gun back.....
We`ve been friends for 25 years....and he would do the same for me....

Re: dig on this....scored big time

I blame the guy's ex-wife. I mean, why not?

I've done the same thing myself. As long as the seller knew what he had, and sold it for what he wanted, then 'no harm, no foul.' There might be a little karma debt if he had a Holland & Holland Royal double that he'd inherited, and sold you for, oh I don't know, $1000?

Who here would tell his 'friend' that the gun was worth $100,000, if he really had no clue?

I would.

Re: dig on this....scored big time

Good buy. In my book, you helped out a guy in need. The ex-wife is the asshole.

Re: dig on this....scored big time

I did sell it to Skeeter guys....but I'm jealous of where he lives. I should charge him a jealous tax.

Just looked at his location on mapquest. Wish I lived somewhere gorgeous....and a bit cooler too.

Yes it was a good deal I got but we see them all the time if we watch the for sale section, right? There was a 5-25 premier on there yesterday for $2700. There are great rifle and scope deals all the time. I snagged several lately.

Southtexasshooter.....the scope base is a DTA base w/20 moa of cant.

Re: dig on this....scored big time

Yea, I'm getting ready to buy a scope and have been watching for the one I'm looking at to show up.

Thanks the mature insight. It is true and As I said...I offered him a couple hundred less than his price and he said he'd feel better if I'd come up a hundred and I said no problem. That is how the deal went down. He's a great guy and we both design and build unusual houses so I was glad to meet him and plan on shooting and hanging out together. Nuff said.
I was a bit surprised a few rectal orifices appeared to badmouth things but it's the internet and we are all used to it....so nevermind, right.
I like this section of the hide because I seem to get my dumb questions answered here by helpful and knowledgeable people and I have just lately been bitten by the long range bug so have quite a few questions scattered across the board. So thanks to the helpful others of our breed....mad shooters and men of strange arts. I am sure I will have more dumb questions to come.

happy shooting,
jim

Re: dig on this....scored big time

Re: dig on this....scored big time

I traded guns for about thirty years and did quite well. I finally backed off and started telling people what I would pay but also what I thought the gun would bring if they were to take a few simple steps. One gentleman had a nice Browning Broadway Trap that I made on offer on but also told him how to get significantly more. A couple of weeks later I saw the gun at my club. I asked the new owner what he paid and (you guessed it) the figure was what I had offered.

About the same scenario with a pair of Pigeon Grade Superposeds. They appeared in the Nickel Ads for about two hundred over my offer. The guy left about $1500.00 on the table.

It's interesting that people think your an asshole if you make a good buy and call you stupid if you pay (in their great wisdom) too much. I don't offer any extra information anymore. If a person is willing to sell, for whatever reason, at a good price then that is their decision.

It's all perceived value. If it's a good deal for me and a good deal for you...win-win, regardless of what the "book value" dictates.

Re: dig on this....scored big time

Well tbh its a good thing that he sold it. I know somebody that got divorced his ex was a right old hag and guess who turns up a couple weeks after she files for divorce. The police they seize all the guns under some bs hold them for over a year and when he gets them back all the nice optics are missing and hes screwed.

Re: dig on this....scored big time

If he wouldn't have bought it, someone else would have. I seriously doubt that a gun shop wouldn't have treated the seller any better.

Re: dig on this....scored big time

Hmmm...I don't think I wants me a Bull Pup! The thought of that cartridge lighting up under my face doesn't quite appeal to me...or any other cartridge for that matter! I ain't a beauty but I'm a damn sight better lookin now than what I'd look like in a friggin casket!! Could maybe happen even in a standard type action with the cartridge farther forward but I can't help but believe that the chances of surviving a 'blow up' would be better!!

Go give the man $200.00 you'haggled' him for!

Re: dig on this....scored big time

Anyone on here would have done the same thing, the ones who disagree dont have the balls to admit it. Nice score, you win, people are jealous. /endthread.
