To me, and I don't drink, but it's the best drinking game ever on tv. If you take a shot each time they say "Delta" or "SEAL" during the show. You would pass out and be dead from alcohol poisoning by the first commercial.
I thought it was better than a LOT of crap on TV... American Guns, Sons of Guns, Dancing with the Stars, the Bachelor/Bachelorette, Glee, etc, etc, etc...
Pros:
Playing for Charity
Not easy/watered down
Positive PR for our warfighters
Cons:
Hollywood is involed
but Sarah Palin's husband Todd was a machine, I'd take him on a mission
Really! Can't you guys just sit down and take something for face value and enjoy it.
I thought it had some positive aspects regarding some unexpected respect and humbleness from the Hollywood bad asses. Plus a charitable mission.
Maybe if you smiled once in awhile and had a good laugh. Smell each rose individually. Loosen up bros. Have a little fun. I enjoyed watching it and screw off if you disagree!!!!
I liked the 'mission control' clips they showed of Gen. Clark looking sternly at an obvious green-screen image of the 'action', like he was really seeing stuff happen real-time.
Can't imagine how stupid having that filmed must have felt.
All that said, my wife watched it with me and that happens almost NEVER. She also commented that it was good that the military and firearm use was being portrayed in a positive manner, and commented on the toolishness of some of the 'operators' (though she thought Chris Kyle was 'precious'...LOL).
I hate reality TV with the fire of a thousand burning suns, and while I had my own 'want to break the TV' moments I'll probably continue watching.
I posted this on the other thread and I'll post it here too. I gotta say, they couldn't have found 2 bigger retards to represent my beloved Corps. Seriously. I'm glad that clown from FAST Company got eliminated first. He was an overflowing porta-john of ego and his instruction was absolutely worthless.
When asked what he thought about his partner panicking and almost drowning during the mission, he said, "If this were a real mission, I would have knocked him out and dragged him back to the boat." Obviously a response from an armature, and an individual who is as unsure about what he would actually do as any of the "celebrities" on the show.

I think its hilarious that the "black guys cant swim!" stereoptype, proved to be true for this group. </div></div>
That is true but the rescue swimmer that ended up fishing both these guys out of the water was black as well.

Did anyone else notice how many rounds Dolvett had fired when shooting the mrad?! They edited a lot of his shots out of the final cut. It looked to me like about 30 rounds with a 15" grouping, hahaha. It's a scoped rifled at 100 yards!!!
talk shit all you want about the show. But who here has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for military charities? None of you, correct. It shows our military in a good light too the rest of the world that thinks they are just hard ass killers that have no heart and are just out there doing Americas dirty work.
I applaud the show! Yes it will have plenty of Hollywood cheese, what the hell do you expect? Its a damn TV show

When greedbags do things for charity, that is the feelgood thing they do to evoke a "positive" emotion from the viewer. If they really cared about the charity, they'd have donated the whole sum and made that public as well in order to engender more charity.
Colbert nailed it. It doesn't portray our military in a good light. It portrays them in a very infantile, cruel light as it does the rest of Americans. The biggest dissent against the show came from folks around the world that think Americans equate war and horrors of war to sport and entertainment. That's a big problem in my eyes.
And you left out the biggest sponsor of all. US military recruiters.
