First thing first, my budget is $1000 including an ATF stamp. I can squeeze another $100 if needed but that is it.

The rifle is .308 Savage Precision Carbine, 10 twist, 20" barrel. Very accurate with Black Hills Match 175 and Corbon Match 175 pills. The barrel has been threaded by the American Precision Arms last year. The thread is 5/8x24.

My MAIN concern is accuracy. I understand the POI will change which is an easy fix... I was looking at AAC Cyclone but don't know its cons, if any.

Within this budget, what is your recommendation knowing what you know?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

Kinda hard to beat the YHM SS phantom for the money, surefire has the best POI return.

Generally ANY can that is secured on, threaded or QD, will increase accuracy in most .30 cal guns.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

You have a very realistic budget and won't have a problem finding a suitable can.

Personally, I would recommend a titanium can, these would normally be about 10 to 12 ounces less than a SS and inconel can, you are, after all, hanging a weight off the end of your rifle. It may be a bit more difficult to get a titanium can within your budget

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

missed the boat on the templar buy. check the SAS arbiter. cyclones work well, ive seen them shoot lights out off of stock 700 LTR and AAC-SD.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

Cyclone is a good can but if you can squeeze just a couple more dollars, I'd recommend a Thunderbeast 30P-1 It is close to your budget and you won't be dissappointed.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

I have the same rifle, a 30P-1 will be hanging off the end soon.

And hopefully in another 8-9 months, it can wear a TT Archangle also.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

I run an Elite Iron Bravo 30 on my FN SPR. The can is EXTREMELY well built...constructed of 304 stainless steel with 17-4 ph baffles. Dale will thread your barrel (if not done already). He will "time" the suppressor to minimize POI shift. If the barrel is threaded already, he'll send you a piece to screw on, mark at TDC and return...the suppressor will time to that mark.

People are AMAZED that the can is as quiet as it is. About the same (or a bit less) than a .22 rifle. I shoot it without ears and it is comfortable to me as well as those around me. One guy thought I WAS shooting a .22! Dales customer service is next to none as well...he'll take care of you. His suppressors are very reasonably priced as well. I've attached a link at the bottom for you to take a look at.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

Thanks all.

Also wondering why there is no Gemtech love...?

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

Heavy and the sandstorm seems to need a lengthy break in period

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

Do yourself a favor and buy the thunderbeast 30P-1, I have owned multiple brands, the only brand I have now is thunderbeast.

I had first round to subsequent round impact changes with both aac and yhm. If you compete, that will cost you points, if you hunt it, it will cost you a hit at some point. It is a repeatable change but why deal with it when you could just buy a thunderbeast.

Save yourself the headache and cash of having to redo it and buy the best out of the gate. Buy a thunderbeast. You'll be glad you did.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

I had a similar budget in mind when I started looking at brake-attach cans but ultimately I offered up enough for a TBAC 30BA. I figured that after a 5-6 month wait for the can I'd have more than saved up the little more I ended up spending on it. You may also want to look at Shark as they're made in Texas. I've seen them more often at the ranges around here and the suppression on them is pretty great. Only reason I didn't go with one is because they don't have a brake-attach model yet.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

Save up for a Thunderbeast. I got to shoot mine today, and was amazed at how quiet it was. My wife and I shot with no ear pro, and it sounds like my CZ453 shooting CCI mini mags. Recoil was practically nonexistent. I cancelled my AAC snd6 to get the TBAC, and couldn't be happier.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

Go YHM Phantom and use the left over money for upgrades or ammo

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

I'm in the same market and am watching the Thunderbeast.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

I just conducted a number of tests for my agency comparing the Cyclone and 30-P. Both cans performed very well. In the end we have four 30-Ps heading our way. Great can, so was the Cyclone but the Thunderbeast suited our needs better.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

Make sure that you actually purchase from someone that has it on hand/in stock or else you will be in for a long wait

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

Thanks all again. Titanium is great...I just thought that the heavier the better since it helps with the recoil and muzzle jump. This ThunderBeast is only 16 oz, don't know if it still helps with the recoil.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

Suppressors reduce recoil because they catch the gas (and its momentum), and this in effect "pulls" the rifle forward, counteracting recoil.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

Yes, it still helps with recoil. The main component of a suppressors ability to reduce recoil has nothing to do with weight (redirecting/slowing down gas).

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

Got it, thanks. I have made my decision and it's ThunderBeast.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

I purchased a can from Ross Precision Gunworks and have been very pleased. He also handles the living trust.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

Great choice! My 308 Savage has a 338BA TBAC hanging on the end when shoot. Awesome accuracy! Get Mark at Short Action Customs to install the brake.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

The wait for any can will be at least 6 weeks. TBAC is on the shorter side at 5 weeks right now. Do yourself a favor and instead of doing 5 weeks of research on "what is the best" under $800 bucks, call up Ray or Zack at TBAC tomorrow and get a 30p-1 on order. You will have 5 weeks before you have to write them a check. Use this time to save another few hundred bucks.

Done. You have the best 30 cal suppressor for you Savage .308

My bad. I didnt see that you had made your decision. Good choice!!

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

Look under 'Group Buy' - there is someone that has some Thunderbeast suppressors in stock for $935. That would be what I would recommend if your main concern is accuracy!

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

I have heard good things about SRT suppressors, both in terms of accuracy and sound suppression

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

I can't tell you how quiet the Thunderbeast 30P1 is but it was way lighter than the AAc that I picked up. They dealer I bought mine from had both but recommended the TB.

I have a Sandstorm that I use on my 700 SPS Tac 308 and I love it, light weight too.

Re: Please Recommend .308 Can for my Bolt Savage

I agree with the post above. Thunderbeast (TBAC). they are amazing and they're made our of titanium (light weight and extremely durable). For the money, get one, you will NOT be disappointed.
