WTF? they dont want donations from the shooting industry? Brad is going to start sending the donations to American snipers.org and SOF (Special Operations Families)instead..

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

I wish it would work out for next year. If they would allow firearm manufacturers to donate, then we would donate for next year. I really do love WWP but it is their directive and not mine. I really, really wish it would work out. In the end we are willing to work with americansnipers and SOF(special operations fund). Both, very worth while causes.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

Last year when I was looking to hire an addtional employee for my welding shop, I contacted WWP about employing a wounded vet. Both of of my current employees (and myself) are vets, all from different branches too. I figured it would be a good way to give a disadvantaged soldier a chance to find employment, get training in a new career and in return I'd get a employee who probably already had lots of the qualities I wanted as I've had great luck so far with military guys.

Nope. Turns out WWP wasn't even remotely interested. I got a lame e-mail saying they'd put it up on their board. I never did get one call from any vet in their program. Hard to beleive. I guess all the wounded vets in their program are gainfully employed and no one is looking for a job? Doubt it. My feeling is WWP never even posted my opportunity.

The experience kind of soured me on the WWP concept.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

Did they offer at least a reason as to why they don't want to enter into partnership with any organizations associated with alcohol, tobacco and firearms? Perhaps, my brain is too tired to think of their obvious reason, but I am interested in learning something new.

All the Wounded Warriors need help, and donations from organization such as one that Brad represents, is certainly clean money. We are not talking about drug money or anything laundered here. Am I the only one missing the boat here? Please enlighten me on this. So they are saying that if I write a check to their organization as an individual then they would accept unbeknowns to them that I am a gun owner, but they would not accept that from a "club", or group that is trying to do the right things for the men and women who served our country?

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

They said in further emails that they only wish to not receive monies donated from manufacturers of firearms. I also believe that the monies from manufacturers is clean and have no idea why they would not want all the money they can get to help our soldiers. They did not exclude us. I am pulling out of it because we receive silent donations from manufacturers and they don't want their money.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

I have a feeling that it's some sort of PC Horseshit reason. The WWP project is a relatively high profile organization in the media (considering what they're doing) and any negative spin from CNBC or some equally disgusting organization that can hurt them overall.

One of my rifle clubs usually donates to WWP or AS.org for part of the match proceeds. We've since dropped sending money to WWP in the past months because of similar correspondence with their management. AmericanSnipers.org is getting our support instead so it's still going somewhere. At least it seems to be better appreciated this way. Too bad.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

The Garands for Vets program dosn't care if donations come from gun related activities. Lots of CMP GSM matches are set up just for the Garands for Vets Programs.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

From the looks of things they are allowing Strategic Partnerships to run things for them. I would have thought that you would have gotten a response from someoe from the WWP as opposed to who they hired outside the group. I do support the group but I am very disappointed in all of this.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

Somehow I doubt the WWP asked any of the soldiers it serves or supports about their desires!

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

I will continue to support our local matches like the one Brad runs in Prescot and the AZ TPRC that I run, but will find another worthy organization like the ones Brad has already mentioned to donate product and proceeds to. Its a shame that the board of directors is going to turn down money for our injured Veterans. So Sad!!

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

I run a weekly steel shoot at our club during the summer months. We started last year and donated the proceeds to the WWP.
We have since donated our proceeds to the Soldiers Angels, after reading this I'm glad we switched.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

Your monies are going to a good cause but I do question their logic

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

M1 for vets program is outstanding! They will take your money! They help some of these kids that are so broken in body and spirit to feel normal. I took a bunch of guys down to LeJeune in April to do a class for some marines from the wounded warrior barracks. We had a great day of shooting, a barb a que.and a beer or two at the end. On saturday we shot a match. Felt great to help out these young men and women and listen to their tales and let them know it's ok and others of felt and experienced the same things. That trhe pain can be overcome. Look up M1 for vets on the web. guys name is J.J OShea. John is a great guy and could use the help. He appreciates anything you can do. Helped him out at a clinic in quantico as well. A worthy program

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

It is the Damn PC crowd!! I am glad we have switched but think we ought to flood the directors email with our thoughts!!!

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

I wonder if it would be possible to get rid of the board of directors?

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

They won't get another dime from me. To many good programs out there that also support my shooting lifestyle.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

Here's a hell of a program this guys got if anyone wants to donate a little...or alot
smile.gif

This guy started it and is running it out of his own pocket. He bought a house, with his own money, for the visiting soldiers to stay in so they would have a free place to stay while they were on their free hunt.

This guy is a fucking angel. His name is Gordon Melton. He is the Moyor of Paducah, Texas and is a vet and volunteer firefighter. Please support him and the vets he hosts.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

I think it should be put on the nightly news...that our "gun" money isn't good enough. I wonder what the Vets think about that one?

If and when time travel is ever an option we should ban/remove all the firearms in the United States for a period of time. How long you ask? Well it wont take long for all the anti-gun idiots who are under educated and just plain stupid to want to climb back into it to a time where they could walk into a shop and buy one to protect themselves from the evil that roams the earth.
They are the idiots who would be begging for one and that's when we say "oh no, now guns are bad remember"? what in the world would you want one of those things for? Give me a break.
ALL the people involved with that decision should be booted out.
Our vets deserve better than that/this.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

We wanted to have a benefit shoot for them this season, I did not know about this situation.

fucken scumbags.

Donate to SOWF

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

damn doorkick thats fucked up. +1 on SOWF, and NSWF i have lost a couple friends and both of those foundations have been AWESOME, straight up unbelievable helping support the families.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

no sponsors from gun people, yet they will let under armor put their logo and name on 80$ hoodies and 30$ hats?! WTF? money donated is money donated i thought...

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

Hey Krazy Train, I was looking up things on the internet with my name in them and found this post. Thank you very much for your support of our Hunting with Soldiers program. Unfortunately our Website has been hacked and was infected with so much spam and a virus where I couldnt get into it and change the spam, so we let it go. We do have a facebook group for those of you who use facebook. I do want to be clear that at this time, we do not have a 501c3 status. We were working under the umbrella of the Big Country Support the Troops 501c3 status but that organization has pretty much fallen apart. We are working on getting our own 501c3 status but I GUARANTEE we WILL not stop the Hunting with Soldiers program. We have a lot of Soldiers and Disabled Veterans lined up to hunt this year and we are doing a VERY Special hunt Nov. 25th thru Dec. 1st. We have 2 Wounded Wariors coming to hunt with us. One lost both legs and one lost an eye to a rocket propelled grenade. We have some items we will be giving them but, just in case they are members here, we are not naming them on here but you can email us at [email protected] to find out. I have a theory that I live by. That is, Money does not make you rich, just wealthy. Its the feeling you get in your heart when you help someone that makes you rich. I am a 100% Service Connected Disabled Veteran and We do this Program because I know how the VA is. They try and give meds everytime you go to the VA. We feel that getting back into the ourdoors is the best meds there is. Here is our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/groups/huntingwithsoldiers/

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

Well..... if you would like to support the wwp it can still be done through direct contribution to a sponsored trip or by direct assistance. A good friend runs a wwp trip each summer for 4 gets and we are always seeking donations to assist in buying fuel and gear. We have also had companies buy air travel to bethel and provide "stuff" for the trip. You may not get the tax deduction but that isn't the reason I help out anyways, so no big deal for me. We are (or rather he is) getting ready for next summer's float trip and beginning to get the funding arranged so if you'd like to help - pm me and I will get you his contact information.
it is a great program even if there are tarred at the national level. It has saved lives, helped with healing and engaged communities to express support and thanks for service.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

Just to play devil's advocate...given their list of unwelcome sponsors, maybe, like the rest of us, they do not want the ATF up their ass

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

After seeing a commercial on WWP I started a monthly payment. 1st thing I get from WWP is some PoS from CHINA !! Called/emailed and asked WTF? They apologized but had no excuses ... IF there is any group/team/op that supports the military that offers MADE in USA products, Let me know & I'll support.
Vets need to help VETS !

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

I support the SOWF. They put kids of SF soldiers that are injured or KIA through college. They also send a check for $3000 to wounded SF guys that are hospitalized within 24 hrs, to help with expenses for travel and such to get their families to the hospital they are treated at. The SOWF also holds benefit SHOOTS to raise monies for this AWESOME cause. Please consider them if you want to donate to a great cause.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

Guys, you realize this was posted 2 years ago!

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

Yep, it was . just contacted WWP & Sam Vaden is NO longer with WWP. However the contact I was transferred to is out of office. Still doesn't change my mind. I'll look up SOF or Americansnipers.org and see if I can make a monthly donation. I've been a disabled vet for almost 30 years. Too bad we didn't have as many people wanting to help us back then ...

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

I know this was posted 2 years ago but I had just saw my name mentioned in it on the internet. I want to let all know that the Hunting with Soldiers program is not associated with the Wounded Warior Program. As a matter of fact, one of the Wounded Soldiers that is coming to hunt with us in November asked if we were associated with the Wounded Wariors. When I told him no we were not he said he was relieved because he had a bad experience with the Wounded Warior People. I do not know anyone with the Wounded Warior Project so I can not nor will I say anything bad about them. As far as I know they do some great things. But that is all I know about them. I do the Hunting with Soldiers program because I am a 100% Service Conected Disabled Veteran and getting this program started was a dream of mine and it finally became a reality 4 years ago. I know how the VA is. They think Medicine cures all. Well getting back in the outdoors is the best medicine a person can get.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

Will, my Hunting with Soldiers program also does some, not a lot, but some hunts for the Vietnam Veterans since they were treated as bad here in the states as they were in Vietnam. God Bless all of them.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

Soldier's Angels supports the troops. One program they do, is to provide Air Far (SW tickets) to family members whose soldiers are in hospital. I saw people come and go from Ft Sam, and every single one was on tickets obtained by Soldiers Angels. Very smooth operation.
They are on Facebook, too.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

HWS, I am much better than the majority I see so don't make much of an issue. This year 90% of all game I hunt & gather will be turned into jerky & sent to Troops (Army & Marines) that I know. That is the least I can do.

Re: wounded warrior project dont want $$ donations ?

Hank thanks for sending that over there. I know a few that are over there and they Love the care packages. Especially good jerky. Hank I have a friend of mine who lives in Abilene who is a member of the Soldiers Angels. That is one great organization. He is also the International VP for the Green Knights as well.
