Who else is stocking up on ammo?

....ok, who is stocking up more than usual I guess is the question after the events that transpired last night? I just ordered 500 rounds worth of 50 BMG projectiles, powder, and primers, as well as 500 rounds of 9mm. It seems that every site selling bulk ammo has sold out of the common calibers in the last 24 hours. What is everyone else on here getting?

Re: Who else is stocking up on ammo?

I suspect that all the folks running to stock up now will just drive up the prices like we saw 4 years ago. I took care of business months ago so I'll be loading rather than shopping.

Re: Who else is stocking up on ammo?

Unfortunately I remained quietly optimistic until about 10 EST last
night so I didn't plan on stocking up.

Re: Who else is stocking up on ammo?

^^^I am with you my man. I am totally wanting to get some stuff now but you know we all can only buy so much at a time.

Re: Who else is stocking up on ammo?

Anyone has some good sites where you can buy BULK AMMO? I kind of need some ammo

Re: Who else is stocking up on ammo?

2000 primers (for 308), 6 more Pmags and 500 rounds of bulk 223... That was just today. I've hit my 'fun' budget until later this month.

After the Batman incident I built an AR with BCM parts and got a second lower just because. So I'm covered for assault rifles, being I bought an AK several years ago.

However, every time I go to Cabelas, I always walk out with a box of ammo for one of my rifles or a magazine. Just a little thing I did which now I'm thanking myself for.

Yes, buying bulk now will drive prices up and deplete supply, but I shoot AR's so little, one more spam can of 762, and I'll be set till the frenzy is over. I'm a bitch to peer pressure when it comes to firearms and ammo.

What I am worried about is handgun ammo. I just recently got my CHL and I try to practice every other week or more to stay proficient.

For any other CHL/CCW holders, Old Faithful Holsters is actually having a 25% of sale with promo code: 'stockup' They make a crossbreed like holster. According to their e-mail that had the promo code in it. They realize there is going to be a huge rush to lots of different gun components and are trying to ease your spending on holsters. Eh, the promo was enough for me to get a holster for my 1911, YMMV.

LOLz. Like we're going to give up our sources.

Re: Who else is stocking up on ammo?

I have enough to keep my .308 shooting for almost a year...although i do need to get my reloading stuff for my .223 and some extra ammo for that and my .45 and 9mm. that being said...i buy a little with every check

Re: Who else is stocking up on ammo?

I was gonna purchase some match .308 ammo 3-4 weeks ago, only about 300 rounds. Got busy and never got around to it. Big mistake. Hopefully the buying frenzy doesn't last too long and things go back to normal.

Re: Who else is stocking up on ammo?

You guys go ahead and buy all you want now, I'm going to wait until demand goes down in march so all the awesome ammo sales kick in

Re: Who else is stocking up on ammo?

I have been slowly stocking up on components since the first wave of buying died down after the last election. I have enough to last 2 years of shooting at my current pace. I have been looking for 300gr smk's for the .338 but they have been out of stock for a while.

Re: Who else is stocking up on ammo?

2000 rounds of .223 today. Even though I'm sure well make it through this shit case scenario like we have in the past I still can't resist the need to hoard.. JUST INCASE
Lucky for me j and g is only a 20 min drive not my favorite place but when it comes to bulk it's pretty hard to beat..

Re: Who else is stocking up on ammo?

Frequent training can be just as effectively accomplished with .22LR as with larger calibers. Those larger calibers would be more suitible 'for effect', especially in times of scarcity. It's a matter of priorities.

I can't advise either for or against stockpiling; that has to depend on the individual shooter/buyer's outlook and rationally estimated need.

Personally, I don't believe in either panic buying or in stockpiling. There's the concept of prudent precaution. For me, that's more about providing for concrete plans, and less about paranoid conjecture.

I hate to agree with this, but it's right. I remember 9/11 and the gas BS that went on. I got calmed down when my dad asked...."how long is that tank of gas gonnna last you?". Since then I kinda got on the proactive end and bought reloading equipment gradually throughout the years and prepared myself for SHTF scenario as best I could. I don't think it would ever happen, but I think a few well placed rounds from handloads are gonna outweigh tons of lead slingin from the best ar. The folks that benefit from scares like this are the manufacturers and people who deal guns all the time. I personally don't buy into anything that's built on fear.

Re: Who else is stocking up on ammo?

I have stocked up on powder, primers and bullets since the end of the last mad rush of everyone buying. I had a hard time feeding my comp guns last time. I am set for a while now so I can wait out any shortages of components for quite some time.
However I have been trying to get another 500 .338 300gr SMK's I have not found any in stock for the last 3 months or so.

Re: Who else is stocking up on ammo?

Still working through my stash from the great buying binge of 2008!

This , but I have bought a ton of reloading components since then . I quit shooting competitively 6 years ago but I still tend to buy at the same rate I did then . Went from ammo cans for storage to 5 gallon buckets

Re: Who else is stocking up on ammo?

Had a "few" AR builds laying around in various stages of completion. Spent the last few weeks buying parts and just got the last of them in the mail.

What Greg said about the 22 ammo, agree completely. I am buying a lot more bulk 22LR these days but I have been since February, while it was dirt cheap and plentiful. I have to feed my comp guns and that is a chore so I require a bit more ammo and components than average.

I took inventory and I am pretty good on most stuff but could use a lot more 9MM components and ammo. May pick up a jug of BLC2 as soon as I can, to feed the 223's in the stable.
Would like to get another 1000 LC brass solely for making Blackout. Have several hundred leftover Whisper cases from previous builds. Thinking it will work just fine. I have always used LC 223 to make Whisper brass, should work just fine in the Blackout I am sure. Plenty of N110 and N120 but liked H110 better in the Whisper. Thinkin I may spring for several pounds of that if the price doesn't get obscene.
Anyone remember that jug of Varget that sold for $700 on GB?
