My friend has a 1100 that has a broken ejector spring. The extractor is fine. It is pulling the shells out of the chamber but not kicking them out of the receiver. I was wanting to know if this ejector spring is the same as the 12,20, ect or if it is a special size just for the 28 and 410?

    thanks for the help

    Re: Rem 1100 28ga?

Your terminology is incorrect and therefore slightly confusing to anyone trying to help.

The extractor has a spring and plunger. The 28ga 1100 uses a separate extractor, but shares the spring and plunger with the 12 & 20 gauge models.

The ejector is riveted to the inside of the receiver, it has no spring. The 28ga 1100 uses a separate ejector from all the other models, including the .410.

I guess it isn't a spring in the standard sense. Sorry my terminology was inaccurate. Thanks for information.

How clean/new is the gun. They get a bunch of junk in them if not cleaned regularly. If you know how to field strip a remington 1100 take the bolt assembly out and remove the extractor. Be carefull you are going to find the extractor plunger and spring in the recess. clean it all up and replace if that doesnt work then look further.
Just my opinion on where to start.

Thanks rooster, I have found a part number for the 28ga ejector that look similar to the ones in the 12,20 1100's and 870's. When I inspected the 410(of the matching set) it didn't have a ejector either. The extractor was fine.

After inspecting the package brownells sent me they sent me the 12,20 ga version. When the 28ga version gets here I'll report back.
