Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

fine work I see there. I will hopefully be sending you my new 700 5R .308 for some work in the near future!! Def want the bolt knob, some truing, and possibly coating the stainless action/barrel.

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

My bolt is on the way for a knob... It's been awhile since I've been able to shoot it, and now I really can't wait to have it in my hands again!

One or two of their stocks we can not inlet for DBMs because of the grip design.... it gets in the way. If its one with a "standard" or "sporter" grip then yes we can do it.

Guys we don't get on snipershide as much as we used to. Call us for questions instead of posting them here for faster responses.

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

Just dropped my bolt off today and took a quick look at my rifle to see if there were any problems..great looking shop will be doing more work with PCR latter this year

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

Any interest in taking on a special project? I want to see if a takedown rifle can be made with a stock 700 action and a manners T4A. I like the HS precision design but don't like the cost. I thought maybe you guys might want to take a crack at it.

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

Christmas just came to my part of the Northeast today! Got my completed barreled action from PCR, mounted it in the stock and stood back and drooled all over myself. I can't say enough good things about the service and communication from Brad at PCR. The finished product is absolutely beautiful. Flutes and brake timed just right, impeccable finish and a more than reasonable price. I emailed Brad today and told him that if it shoots half as good as it looks I would be thrilled.

Specs:
Stiller Tac 30 AW from the 'Hide Group Buy
Stiller rail and oversized lug
Obermeyer MTU Fluted barrel chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor
Little Bastard Brake
Sniper Grey Cerakote
Jewel Trigger
Manners T4A Mini Chassis in Midnight Camo
Atlas BiPod
I have a Vortex PST for it but am looking to upgrade

Can't wait to shoot it! Here are some amateurish pics but hey ... I had to show somebody!

THANKS BRAD!!!

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

That's beautiful. What length barrel and what does it weigh?

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

Barrel is 23" plus the brake. Feels really well balanced. Not sure on the weight yet (will get a weight later tonight) but it is not as heavy as I thought it would be. I would guess 10 or 11 pounds as it sits but I will get a calibrated bathroom scale number when I get home tonight.

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

She weighs 13 pounds on the calibrated and certified bathroom scale (and I need to go on a diet)! Barrel is just over 23". Brad is the man!

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

That's a really nice looking stick, mailed all my parts to Brad last week for my build. Seeing pics like this makes me glad I chose PCR for my build.

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

Thanks for the kind words MPrimo. Sniper Grey was the perfect color to match your stock.

We have been coating our rifles with "H" series Cerakote for about a month and have a wide range of colors to offer. If we don't have the color that you want, we will get it!

Thanks again everyone!

I'm curious to see the Sniper Gray compared to the finish on a Razor. I just had a rifle coated Tungsten Gray and it's a little darker than the Razor. I think I'm going to steal your color combo idea but have the cerakote match the Razor if possible.

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

MPrimo.....
Thank you very much for the business, pictures, and kind words. We GREATLY appreciate it.

JohnnyC.....
As far as a take-down rifle... I dont think thats something we'd be willing to take on. Do you mean a take-down where the barrel comes on and off for transport? Or a rifle that the stock is collapsible or even removable? If you mean "take-down" in the sense that the barrel removes for transport, thats not something we'd be willing to do quite yet.
Especially not on a Rem700 action. Maybe if it was the right aftermarket action... I would come up with a way to remove the barrel and reattach it in the field using only one tool and still have it be sub-moa. Id like to take on a project like that in the future, but not anytime soon.

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

All caught up on bolt knob installs.

Here's a "3 ringed Varminter" knob on a 5R....

Here's the new Bi-pod I got for the 50. Its for an AR50 so I had to make my own mount to be bedded into the stock....

Here is a pic of my favorite stock for under $300. Its a Choate shaped a lot like an A5. Its all plastic but its strong as hell, and Id prefer it over most HS Precision and B&C stocks.....

And last but not least is a 338 Lapua Mag Ackley Improved barreled action built off a Defiance action....

Thank you for looking!

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

Got the first shots through this thing today and am really pleased. I am no ace with a rifle ... and it was pretty cold ... 15 degrees ... but the wind was under 10 mph. Only had access to a 100 yard range but took the opportunity to break in the barrel and try both the 120 and 140 grain factory loads. Clearly the gun liked the 140s better which surprised me a bit given the 8.7 twist.

Rifle (again)

I know it's early but everything about this rifle has exceeded my expectations thus far. Fit, finish, performance and comfort while shooting it all are over the top. I can't thank Brad at PCR enough.

Specs:
Stiller TAC 30 A/W
Obermeyer MTU fluted barrel (8.7:1 twist - 23") - 6.5 Creedmoor
Manners T4A with MCS
Jewel Trigger set to right around 1#
Atlas Bipod
APA Little Bastard brake
Sniper Gray Cerakote
All work done by Brad at PCR

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

Again, thank you so very much for the pics and kind words!

Those 8.7twist barrels are great with 140s. We've been using 8twists a lot for 6.5s shooting 140s. But 8.7twist will spin them just fine.

Thanks!

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

Here's another 6.5 CM that we finished today.

Trued M700
McMillan A3 OD Green
Brux M24 8T SS barrel @ 26"
Badger M5
Modified Varmint knob
Center and open to 8-40 scope holes
PCR shroud mod.
Shilen trigger
Barrel action finished in Armour Black "H" series Cerakote
Pillar bed with Devcon 10110

We hand inlet the barrel channel for a closer fit to give it better stock line, filled in the 2 forend stud inlet holes and applied "C" series Cerakote to the inside of the stock forend, mag well and trigger inlet areas.

Thanks for looking!

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

Same here! Nice guys to talk to and they definitely take pride in their work. They got a savage action and Krieger 6.5mm barrel of mine. Giddy as a school kid to have my first "semi" custom precision rifle. If i could afford it they'd be doing a full build for sure.

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

I got a build in my head. I'm wanting to do a .338 Norma Mag or .338 Edge. I am really looking at you guys. A Lot of things I am undecided about a few things.

I am leaning towards a chassis type stock, and the Norma so I can get it in a Magazine easier.

Leaning towards a stiller action Nitrtitded.

Pretty set on a Timney trigger and Kreiger barrel. Also want the barrel nitrited as well. Depends on how my tax return goes. I really love the McMillan A5 but kinda want something different and to get the A5 to have adjustable LOP/cheek weld and accept AI Mags your looking over a gran just for the stock.

What I'd like to end up with is a .338 rifle that uses AI type Mags, weighs less than 15 pounds that is adjustable to fit me or my wife.

Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles lead times and services

Thanks guys.

Everyone.... Physical work(building/shipping rifles) gets most of our attention right now.

My number is 480-467-8090

Our shop phone is listed on our website. We still need to set up our voicemail on it so don't bother leaving a voicemail. Just call our cell phones.

Fantastic work, due to this thread i have found where i will get my bolt knob done and my rifle cerakoted.

Great work sir.

I've had great communication from Brad at PCR, I don't think I've waited for more than a day or two for a response. Keep up the greatness gents!

Dropped by Brad's shop a week ago, when I couldn't release the bolt out of my RW Snyder Rem 700 5r in 308. He and Keith were there working. He showed me the problem and how to fix it in the future at no charge even though I offered to pay several times. Great guys with nice clean shop. Got to see many beautiful rifles "under construction". Will definitely use them them in the future for my rifle needs. They definitely take great pride in their work. I'm just lucky to have them local.

You didn't happen to see a Winchester Model 70 in a McMillan A5 that looked like it was shipping out soon did you? LOL.

I've got a Rem 700, 308 22-inch 1:10 Rock M24, McMillan A5 build with Brad now and am thinking about taking the long drive from Baton Rouge to Phoenix to pick it up when ready (April?). Have already had three bolts done by Keith and Brad at a great price, great turnaround time and beautiful work. Be sure to post your Win 70 build when you get it. Have you by any chance ever been up to La. Precision Rifles?
