pittsburgh pa
so my wife and i took a hand gun course. if you want to read the story, go here:

we live in 15238 near fox chapel. she asked again yesterday if we could take another class and said this morning she wants to shoot more to get more familiar.

the problem is, she wont listen to me. she wants instruction from someone other than myself. if that is what she needs, then so be it. i kinda have the fundamentals...i think

. i am open to instruction too, and i will act like i know absolutely nothing.

so is anyone willing to meet us? or can anyone recommend a good instructor? i think for her benefit, maybe another female? another couple that really knows what they are doing? it doesn't have to be a couple, or a dude, or a chic. basically anyone that can teach and knows what they are doing.

thanks!

EDIT:
oh yeah, i know she wont be hitting clay pigeons at 50yds, open sights the first day. but just to strengthen the fundamentals i already showed her. give her a better foundation for her to practice with, to get her to be more comfortable.

I'm not a Instructor and don't proclaim to be anything other than a enthusiast. I have shot IPSC and various steel matches for a few years.

I'm about a hour south of you. Would be interested in a range session or two, my Wife might find it easier to learn with another female as well.

Re: any pittsburgh pa hiders to help my wife?

where are you at?

her biggest problem is shooting like a girl. seriously.

she needs to keep her shoulders square, her head square, slight bend in the knees, keep her hand higher up in the gun, stop leaning backwards.

when i tell her to do it, she takes it as me nagging.

I'm in the apollo area. Took the wife-to-be for a defensive pistol course and it was night and day. She wouldn't listen to a damn thing i had to say until someone else told her to listen to what i had to say...go figure. I'd be up for a range day and could probably get the MS to go as well. Drop me a line sometime if this is what you're thinking...

I'm in MD but I shoot at a club in Pitcairn from time-to-time and I'm sure I could find someone, if not myself to help you and your wife. Have you considered getting some snap caps and making her work on stuff at home first? Did wonders for my lady.

I am too far away from you but I have the same problem. I am an instructor and run a training company, but I am not allowed to teach my wife one single thing about firearms.

Or cooking.

Or using a cordless drill.

There are some barriers created when people are married that prevent a student-teacher situation from becoming possible. I totally understand that part of your situation and believe me, I sympathize with it.

i can't even get her to watch a small segment i recorded on the TV show HANDGUNS about proper grip.

so we got into a small argument last night because i said, "ya know, for someone who wants to learn, your putting much effort into it."

i bought the snap caps, and i do a drill to simulate a malfunction.

i use a laser that is lined up with my iron sites so i know if i am on target or not.

i tap, rack, get on target, pull the trigger. repeat 10 times.

i do this to get in the habit in case there is a malfunction, and am trying to make it second nature.

she is not allowed to carry until she can prove she is proficient and comfortable with the basic functions of a pistol.

check out www.centermasscombattactics.com

They have a female specific firearms class.

I have shot with these guys before they are a great group of instructors, and offer lots of real world experience.

they train at a location about 90 minutes south of you.
