Beautiful! I imagine mine should be on its way in the next couple of months.

Enjoy your rifle!

I always used to be surprised and impressed when I saw groups like that from Mike's rifles. I'm still impressed, but I confess I'm no longer surprised; that's just what his rifles do.

Enjoy that X-Ray, jayjaytuner,

David

Something doesn't look right about that X-ray you should overnight it to me so I can take a loo ;-).

Congrats on the new stick. Hopefully you can replicate that test target someday.

What is the lead time on one of these TacOps builds? I have been reading on here and these rifles can shoot.

Depends but I think you can expect a year. It will vary as any order for an operational person/department/team etc will jump yours.

It's always breath taking to see one of these...Even know they mostly look alike but I still love seeing every single one of these beauties...and those test groups are just too dam SMALL!!!!

Very nice JayJay. Pondering my next purchase from Mike. His rifles have a tendency to make you want another! Enjoy and go shoot!

Took it out today, froze my ass off.. about 20 degrees out...got it sighted in & then realized i didn't torque my rings enough as the scope had slipped/ moved back about a inch..torqued them down tighter should be good now, hope to have a range report soon.

Welcome to the Club!

Made it to the range today...was cold and breezy.
heres a couple of groups from 110 yards

20 degrees? I've shot in 40ish weather and don't really care for it. 50 degrees is plenty cool enough for me. Great shooting in the cold and wind. "Welcome to the Club", Jason. Now that you have your X-Ray in-hand, aren't you glad that you didn't sell your place-in-line?

I can't get my head around the premium price, despite 3 round groups vs a number of other builders.
Back it up to 300 to 500 and shoot 5 rounds, and you'd have my interest.

Congrats on the fine rifle! I know the feeling of owning a legendary firearm. The holes on paper really don't
mean much.

Owning a legendary firearm is a great feeling, the holes on paper testify that the "legend" is alive and doing well. There are holes made on other "things" than paper but we cannot advertise them, can't we?
Something is telling me that this combo rifle/shooter will do just fine at 300 to 500.
The price is what it is; it is only a matter of choice.
Good shooting.

Holes on paper don't mean much? Do they not? I'm fairly certain that 100 yard groups are widely accepted as the industry standard for gauging the accuracy of a rifle. When a rifle shoots three rounds, five rounds, twelveteen rounds, or whatever arbitrary number you decide to use, all through the same hole, channnnnces are pretty good that it's going to shoot well at distance. Not always, but one hole groups at a hundred yards are typically indicative of accuracy.

To be honest with you, I thought the test targets were horse shit too when I first started seeing them. I kind of assumed that Mike had a thirty caliber ice pick that he used to make them with, but my curiosity got the best of me and I bought a Tac Ops test target. It was a pricey piece of cardboard, but it did come with the most accurate rifle that I've ever shot. I have a lot of custom guns in the safe, and they're all extremely accurate, but none of them seem to have the magic mojo that my Tac Ops does. I'm probably as skeptical as anyone on the planet, and for me, seeing is believing. I'm now a believer.

I plopped down on the day I got my X-Ray 66, which is a belted magnum, mind you, and shot five rounds into the same hole. I got to the range and mounted a scope that I wasn't familiar with, to a rifle that has a hell of a lot more recoil than I'm used to, a trigger that wasn't the same, and a stock that is configured differently than mine. I bore sighted it, shot two rounds to zero it, and put the next five in the same hole. I couldn't believe I shot a group that small from a bipod and rear bag, with ammo that I can buy at a store that also sells tennis racquets. For the record, all of my ice picks are .22's.

Mike takes anal tendencies to a maniacal level, and that results in rifles that are pretty damn close to perfection. "Diminishing returns" is a phrase that doesn't seem to matter to the man, so he spends time on the little details that even the best builders simply can't afford to. The minutiae that most guys don't bother with, drive Mike crazy. Most shooters don't give a rat's ass about milking that last tiny bit of accuracy out of a gun, but for the discerning ones that really do, Mike Rescigno is your Huckleberry. Tac Ops rifles aren't economical, and they take forever to get, (forfuckingEVAR) but they're remarkable sticks!

Here is a pic of the target that popped my cherry, and I honestly think I can do better after a little time behind it...

And just for shits and giggles, a shot of the hand engraved floor plate that I thought was appropriate for the belly of a big green beast....

BigCarrot
We feel the same way.
Do you have a happy face engraved on the other side of your rifle, for when you are done shooting?
Have fun and good shooting.

Awesome idea getting the HULK on the floor plate. Im jealous! Might be to late for me to add something to mine lol

I believe my buddy just bought this rifle and I can't wait to put a few rounds down range. Will be pitting my Surgeon Scalpel .308 against this bad boy. Let's put it this way ... I won't bet on myself.

Beautiful Platform! I'm sure it was well worth the wait. Mine is shipping today, also a X-Ray 51, I will post some pictures along with my 3 shot group, and Mike R. qualifying 3 shot test target. Hopefully next week!

Enjoy
Steve,
