Hey y'all.

I saw this pic a few days ago and I was trying to identify his TA-50, and I noticed the map/mission info pouch on his left forearm, but I can't find anything remotely close to it.

Does anyone "in the know" have some information?

PS - I apologize if this is in the wrong section.

Just placed an order for Sunrise Tactical......those look pretty cool. I'll give it a run!

Thanks for the tip Caylen!

Another + for Sunrise tactical, Scotts products are solid. Have one of his originals and it simply works well.

Seriously?

I'm asking for some solid information and you pull this crap?

Well I shouldn't be too surprised, considering your screen name.

Sir if you are that thin skin.....this is not the place to play.

You have been given useful info and a bit of a poke. If you knee jerk that quick you will become the target of a fair amount more.

Not the point.

If YOU asked a legitimate question regarding anything from gear, to a reload mix, to the quality of glass from a new scope company, and what you got were answers from people who "didn't look at the pic or read the original thread clearly enough", with smart ass answers on top of that, you would be a little pissed as well.

You don't go to a mechanic and ask him what the knocking sound is in your engine and expect him to make a crack at "knocking" boots with your wife. You expect a serious answer with the best information available. And so far, the only person who has done that is PSYOPS.

And that's why I came to this site. It's supposed to be run by, as well as posted on, by people "in the know". I expected some form of professionalism with regards to a question about field equipment, and all I've gotten so far are half-assed answers and a troll with nothing better to do.

So excuse me when I call "shenanigans" on people who answer a legitimate question with 6th grader jokes.

Well on call of duty the armband computer is used to call in airstrikes, drones, attack dogs, stuff like that so maybe thats what it is. Maybe hes got a dagger in there, maybe a plugger for you older folks, who gives a shit whats in it youve been told multiple sources to get what you seek. All those failed analogies you mentioned you are paying for a service, here your just another commando typin on a keyboard

Caylen and Nomad have hit the nail

If this is for a comp or field it then you are GTG and drive on. Why you would need a GPS....??

I was hoping to find someone who had seen the item in question, but apparently not. I did get some good leads on similar TA-50, but I was asking what the item in questions was. Not "is there something similar?".

As for the GPS, I plan on hunting for 3-4 days at a time and having GPS as a supplement to land naving it "old skool" with a map and compass, is always good field craft in my opinion.

So because I called you on your snarky response, you resort to ad hominem remarks?

You keep telling yourself that so you can feel good about yourself when pissing others off for no good reason other than to be a troll.

I'm no "keyboard commando" as you suggest and I can prove it, but I don't need to justify my actions when all you did was act like a child.

lets see, he is wearing a garmin etrek in a clear wrist pouch purchased from any clothing and sales on the planet, similar to this

LBX ? GPS Wrist Pouch

and a wrist coach of unkown make that's extremely similar to any of the ones listed above, it has a place for a map, data card, mission brief, a pen, and a chemlight pocket. He looks to be wearing a G-shock watch, note turned backwards, that's very operatorish, and oakley gloves. He apparently is very wealthy judging by the two exposed Pmags.

I spy a d ring, a braided 550 cord pull tab, a surefire weaponlight, a peq-15, and a "hey fuckface" patch. I spy what appears to be a harris PRC-152 with headset and toggle.

He seems to be sporting the spring 2012 line of issue pit sweat and standard plate carrier.

one can never be too carefull when examining the slightest details before dressing up and jerking off to oneself in the mirror

Lol. Funniest post I have read this year.

all joviality aside the wrist panel is unique in that it uses a 3v cr123 battery to power an illuminated back panel to enable the wearer to write accurate notes in low light. these were used by a certain generation of JTACS from a few units, hence the 2 ptt toggles on his kit, 1 for personal MBITR the other for a 117 for air to ground net.

although very similar to all the suggested alternatives it is fairly unique and not readily avaliable, however unless your taking notes, at night, under pressure, directing CAS and being shot at i would suggest any of the other alternatives are sutible for comps, LE work or hunting

it could also power an ipod too!!!!!

Although not being shot at while calling in CAS, I do take notes at night, under pressure, underwater even. Would be nice to know the manufacturer if you've got it. I'd use it at work all the time, as well as night time coyote hunting.

I'm not as Tactical as some folks, but face it, this is Shenanigan Central. Lighten up, have some fun, avoid a heart attack. Also, paint a camo racing stripe on your barrel. It makes the bullets go faster.

That's what happens when you let civilians join a serious shooting forum. If this site was only open to military members, we would take everything completely serious all the time. Military operators don't stoop to crude jokes and smart ass comments, only civ div nasties do that.

Did some digging, called up some friends formerly in AFSOC, and got some info.

Arm band is the Diamondback Tactical Battlelab Commanders Arm Board. Since DBT was sold they don't seem to make them anymore. They were also fairly cost prohibitive at $125 when they were available. I sent an e-mail to TYR asking if they still had the design floating around. EL panels are cheap and most can be cut to size then edges resealed so theoretically you could backlight one yourself with a little creativity, although weatherproofing it might take some cleverness.

And that's precisely my point.

When you go to a website regarding professionals and their field craft, you expect professional answers.

I did a search and found that exact item.

I greatly appreciate the help with that. I might even buy one if I can afford it.

I think you'd have a harder time finding one available for sale than being able to afford it. I wouldn't pay a premium for it, EL panels are cheap, you could easily roll your own with what's available on the market. The difficulty would be making a viable power supply that's attached to the arm band. It wouldn't be too difficult to power the EL panel with a 123, but doing it elegantly might be a little more difficult.

I might just do that.

Do you know of any companies with decent products/prices???

Could go with this on the cheap, photo-luminescent so you'd just have to charge with a flashlight. Get a little UV photon and it'll charge pretty well.

Or with a little more engineering, this with the inverter. You'd just have to figure out how to wire it all up for a battery source if not using the below battery pack. Also you can trim it to size to it in whatever panel. Red would probably be better for night time use, but might mess with colors on a topo map if you're using it as a map backlight. For notes it looks fine, but white would probably be better if you're using it to backlight stuff with colors on it.

Might try this to see how well it works with a panel, it's my understanding that one panel would be fine.

Looks to me like your standard wrist support.

It gets lonely when deployed and there is no need to risk an injury when having quality alone time.

...and he is wearing it tactically correct on his offhand so that he can still take care of business while taking care of business.

And you completely missed the sarcasm in mission_fail's post. If you believe that grunts never make crude jokes and smart ass comments, then obviously I have more time sitting on an ammo crate while taking a shit than you have in the bush.

Bottom line... Lighten up Francis, quit taking yourself so seriously and welcome to the Hide.

Apparently you don't realize that you can't "read" sarcasm in a text. All you can do is read the text.

So maybe you want to try again with your assumption/ad hominem fallacy regarding my service time "in the bush".

Then I'll just say again, quit taking yourself so seriously or your stay around here will not be a pleasurable one. Sarcasm is abundant and thick skins are a required piece of kit.
