Hello all,

Anyone ever stake their gas keys themselves?

I have a POF USA Roller CAM and Gas Key coming in soon. This design is awesome, and I am glad they offer now for DI style rifles.

Pretty straightforward to install, BUT...., I have never staked a gas key. Anyone here have experience doing it themselves?

Appreciate the advice.

A staking tool is the best. If not available, a 1/16" punch will work, as we were taught in armorer school. After torqing to 35 lb/in, place carrier in vise, so that carrier key is resting securely on fixed jaw. Take center punch and stake from each side, deforming gas key to point of good contact with cap screw. Remove any sharp edges with a file.

Do not Locktite carrier key screws. They do break, and Locktite will require drilling and EZ Out to remove the broken shank. Proper torque and staking prevents loose gas key screws.
