960 Yards, 5 Shot group

Nice shooting, HOWEVER, if you had a HORUS VISION HDMR Scope w/ its advanced "H59" reticle, all shots subsequent to your first would have easily been on target.

...and he did it without 5K rifle and 4K scope!

And 168smk's! Any idea on the velocity at impact? And what's your elevation? On average, 168s start going transonic in the 850 range, but that's at sea level and like 2600-2700mv(if memory serves). You must be upper 2700's and somewhat higher elevation, no?

I am so jealous. Sweet shooting. Hope to be able to shoot like that next year. Gots lots of practicing to do this year. Damn nice.

My Chart says 1200 fps at 960 yards

Well done. What am I missing with the license plate? The reflectivity of the paint? Just curious. Again, really nice shooting!

Tom,

Yep, license plates have a retroreflective (light returns back to the source) coating. They'll help extend the range of a rangefinder, but so will any cheap retroreflective items like road signs, bike reflectors, etc.

Sometimes ill stick a retroreflective sticker on a steel plate before I head out to shoot it so I get the proper range very easily. Works like a champ.

Nice shooting to clayne!

clayne_b that was some very nice shooting and vid, thanks for sharing.

vfin careful not to believe everything you see when viewing those 'HORUS' commercials. Don't work as easily as the smoke and mirrors make it look. Don't believe me, just take a second look at the vid from 1:10 - 1:20 , now how did he get those couple hits by holding right when wind was from the left?

Can't wait for clayne_b's 1260 vid. THAT I'll believe...

Thanks guys! I took it out to 1260 yards today. Video is uploading now.

Now that has to be past transonic. I show 1025ish at 5300 density and 2700mv. If you managed a decent group I'm gonna shit! And you may want to email your results to Bryan Litz!!!

I got an idea. How about, you set up a target at 960 yards and shoot a five shot group showing us how you would do that. Then you could even start your own thread.

Hold on now Diver-Man. Sarcasm isn't a very polite communication skill to employ when addressing a newbie who just wanted to share his own shooting experiences here.

Besides, the first thing I did was to compliment the OP as to his skillful shooting, so unless you woke on the wrong side of the bed and have the need to rag on someone, there's no need to smack me down for simply offering my experience with my HORUS VISION scope.

And the 2nd thing you did was trying to tell him how he could have done it better with the joke that is horus.
