This match just keeps getting better each time! Too tired to type more and we need pictures dammit! :)

Match was fun as always. Thanks to Woody, Dave and the RO's for making it happen. There were some very good shooters out there today and the stages are getting more technical, which is what makes this match keep getting better every time.

Wow what a great match!!! Dave and Woody can think up some amazing twists to put into these stages. There were so many great shooters there this weekends and so any great people. It was a real pleasure to be an RO for this match and to spend time with yall. Congrats to the winner, Mr. Palzkill for an amazing score and great shooting. This match just keeps getting better and better. I cant wait for the June DMM match!!

Another great match! Thanks to Woody, Dave and all the RO's and support crew for continuing to put on some of the best matches in the region!!! Nice to see such a strong field of shooters who take this seriously, keep things safe, and also know how to have some fun :). Great location and great matches at Woody's, highly recommend anyone thinking about coming out get off the fence and come for the next one!

This was a great match and I'd like to thank Dave, Woody and everyone else who helped put this on. For anyone out there who is debating whether or not to shoot this match, do it. This is a first rate match and you will learn a great deal about yourself and your equipment.

It was a pleasure helping with this match and I had a blast! It was challenging, fun and well designed. I look forward to the June one!!

Registration has opened for the shooters who shot in previous matches for the 6.22.13 DMM at Woodys farm. Open registration will begin in about 8 days. I will be posting more details once open registration begins and look forward to seeing you all at the farm

Hope the time off goes through be great to have you here. I am still trying to get the schedule lined up to make it up your way as well. The Duke merger is a got us all hoping

Shooters

Registration for the 1st 2013 DMM is open and we have 43 teams already signed up from previous shooter registrations. The cap will be around 70 to 75 teams and we expect a awaiting list like normal so early registration is a good idea. We will be using the “Tee Time” approach as we did last DMM.

Look forward to shooting with you soon at the farm

All

70% of the slots are now filled so register soon. We are talking with a couple new sponsors so more to follow on a couple great additions to the prize table likely

Ok... as one previous post said.... I'm getting of the fence and have signed up myself and my son for our 1st competition. We'll be in WAY over our head, but isn't that a great way to learn?

I'm hoping though that you fine folks can help us with a basic list of gear that will help us focus more on the shooting rather than what we should have brought! Looking at the packs in the pics, I can only figure out a spotting scope as the must have accessory.... besides a big gun!

So what would you guys recommend we bring? What size spotting scope? Range finder? What's in the packs?

We appreciate any input and advice you folks can help with. We're exited about attending and will try not to blow the curve too bad! ;-)

Thanks!

KS

All ranges are give so no need for LRF. Skip the spotting scope and bring 10x or higher binoculars. Know your dope out to 650 yds just to be safe. In my pack is my hydration bladder, ammo, ear pro, shooting sticks, dope sheet, notebook, and snacks. It's not a gear intensive match. A 6-9 or 9-13 bipod will work but this isn't a prone match. You will be put in some awkward shooting positions where you need to find the best position for you. Check out all the previous photos for reference. Be safe and have a positive attitude and you and your son will have a great time and positive learning experience.

What rifles, scopes, and calibers are you running?

Thanks for the advice and encouragement. We're looking forward to a lot of fun, even if it's on a steep learning curve!

Calibers.... that's my biggest issue right now. Im told we need individual rifles and I run with a 700 in .308 and can hit regularly out to 500y, but my sons LR goto it's a 700 as well, but it's chambered in 22-250. He's shot out to 300y on the range but i never expected to ask it to go farther! I'm stuck between trying to find out if he can shoot it farther than he ever has or find him something with a bit more kick and get him comfortable.... all this before the 22nd of next month! Can you tell i thought entering this event indepth far in advance? ;-)

He's a great shot and just loves to shoot, but I'm just worried about him feeling out gunned... pun intended... and getting flustered if he can't hit some of the longer ranges.

Am i worried about nothing and just need to get his dope, or do you think i need to find him another rifle? Other than caliber, his rifle/scope combo is capable as it it's nearly identical to my 700 setup. Yes... father and son matching rifles.. corney, but he loved it!

Thanks for taking a second to help out a very green competition shooter!

It is getting close to match day, less than a month out and all things are looking good for a challenging match . I wanted to let everyone know Lancer Products - Lancer Systems has committed to (2) rifles on the prize table for the 1st place team (nice rifle to add to your kit) plus a side match stage for speed using one of their demo rifles with the best time winning a strong prize or gift certificate (TBD) and they supply the ammo as well for the side stage. All the sponsors large and small have been generous and as always all prizes will be on the table for the match participants

We still have some slots so get your registration in if you have not to ensure a team slot! I will as last time send range data for you to develop dope cards in advance of the match (no stage details), safety and match specific details. Look forward to seeing you all @ Woodys farm

Botbasher, get good dope out to 600-ish yards and you two will be fine. I think a team spanked this match using .223/5.56 one year so the 22-250 should be great. If the match directors and competition don't mind, I'd be glad to try and help you guys out when you shoot too. If it works out, IM me your tee time and I'll try to be there to give a little assistance and you're also more than welcome to use some of my gear if you need it (pack, tripod, binos, etc).

Black-X,

I appreciate the help in advance. The group here has been incredible with helpful advice, tip, ideas and best of all a limitless tolerance for my seemingly endless line of questions!! You guys are proving to be the exception to the rule that online forums are not worth the bandwidth they use!

We got to push out a little farther and got some additional dope for his 22-250. I'm hoping to get a couple more range days in before the event, but it's going to be a struggle between the short schedule (may have to call in sick.. Cough!) and lack of supplies currently plaguing our community. I got a pack, a OK pair of Binos (working within a tight budget and shorter time frame!), got schooled on bag usage (WOW... what a difference!!) and practiced some of the more unusual positions viewed in the pics. I got the basics... now we just have to see what I can do with them!

Thanks to some sage advice from you guys and a day at the range my concern has shifted from the rifle to his ability to call the shots (we've never tried that before). He gets so excited and easily distracted that it's going to be quite an adventure! We got invited to attend the .22LR Tactical Comp next weekend, so I'm going to try and use that as a time to not only experience the competition, but to try and get him to call shots with a understandable regularity. There is just something about "It was a bit off to the side, Dad." that just doesn't work well here!!

I appreciate all the help you guys offer us. It's neat that it still exists in our "competitive" society. I'm looking forward to putting some faces with the names and shaking some hands!!

Cheers!

I can also guarantee you there won't be a shortage of guys willing to help you and your son with anything you may need. Just ask.

Also, don't sweat the 'get everything right' aspect near as much as the 'have fun doing it'. You and your boy will have a blast, regardless of the scoresheet.

Look forward to seeing you both.

Mike

My shooting partner signed us up today, so a couple more newbies have been added to the list. This match is quite different than my normal shooting sessions, I'm so looking forward to it!

This will be a great time. I look forward to shooting with you all.

John

We are a week out and things are shaping up (check out sponsors on the site Match Info - Woody's Designated Marksman Match ) We have 5 team slot available Friday at 3:30 pm for a squad start and Saturday "Tee Time" slots starting at 2:10 pm and then the match will be full. I will be sending updates on the match to folks starting tomorrow and the schedule will be posting either late tomorrow or Saturday

Looking forward to seeing a bunch of you at the farm

Dave

Feeling a lot better about it after spending some time out with you guys at the TSC. Know there it's still a lot to learn, but at least there will be a few more familiar faces!

Getting more excited by the day! See you guys next weekend!

Ken & Jordan

Reddog and I did a little "tuning" today getting the Creedy's ready. Looking forward to seeing Dave, Tom, Ken, and Jordan next weekend. SR

This may be too little too late, but I am looking for a teammate for this match. I am an accomplished NRA Highpower Shooter and have shot 3-gun matches in the past, but this would be my first match of this type.

I think we have now gone to keeping them steel colored to keep it even. That said I will sync up with Woody as well since we just replaced all the steel in the past 2 weeks (OUCH)

Team Lassiter and Franklin are going to sit this one out... we will see you boys next match.

It is true. I am glad I didn't hand you the money for sign up after the TSC match to sign me up, would have been a big mistake. I had continuing Ed class last Thursday and got a call to come in to work that night, due to a guy losing an arm here at work. Now I am scheduled to work all this week through Saturday morning, so I would have had to cancel anyway. Good news? More overtime means more toys.
I do plan to see you next match if nothing else happens.

It will be great to have you here at the next match and I look forward to heading back your way in July for the tactical 22 match it was a BLAST
