...stop thinking, and just do it. You won't be disappointed.

I'm in the process of switching to 155 scenars after shooting 155 Amax's (which also shot excellent) for the last few hundred rounds, and this is how my 100yd load development looked yesterday.

Win brass, 46-47gr varget. Figured the average from the 5 groups to be .28". I look forward to seeing what these scenars can do beyond 100yds.

Forgot to ask....What's the rifle specs? Obviously it's an AI...more interested in barrel length, contour and twist if it's shooting the 155's so well.

46.5 seems the way to go!
Is this with the 1:12 factory LW barrel? If so, I'll be sure to get some 155gr scenars next!

Yes they are 3 shot groups. The AMAX loads would do a 5 shot group under .5 very consistently. These seem as if they'll do much better.

The barrel is the factory 24" lothar Walter installed in the uk. Awesome rifle!

I've been blessed I have owned numerous bolt rifles and I haven't owned one yet that wouldn't shoot. But when I bought my first AI I really became a fanboy. It just seemed to do it on its own. They really are easy to shoot well.

AI....man I had mine out over the weekend. I just love them. Good shooting, Dom. Nice stick you have.

DFOOSKING, get one. Sell what you have and do it. Worth every penny.

Thanks Tyler! And he's right. Sell what you have to get an AI. It's what I did and I'd do it 100 times over.

I'd like to try 155s in my AW. Please keep us posted on how they do at longer ranges. Excellent shooting!

AI's are like a STD that there is no cleanup shot for and you really don't want to get rid of....but you pay alot for... like a foreign hooker that was worth every penny... ok i'm rambling i'll stop ;P

I'll be out later this week trying them out to possibly 800yds. I'll keep ya all posted. In the meantime...lots of reloading.

We understand more about the AI disease and think we have a cure. We have increased production and there will be more rifles, AICS and magazines than ever before, so that should help all of those affected.
I hope this helps.

Damn you Tom i have a AW and a PSR on the way.. you can't do this to me. my wife already gives me shit ;) she won't like me much when the short action PSR comes a calling... just saying

BigJoe29,
Sorry, maybe you should go to counseling........an AI maintenance course....and how did you know about the short action PSR?

I'm not Joe, but there were several videos from SHOT where it was mentioned at the AI booth.

All I can say is, I may have to sell off some stuff for one :D

I have shot the 155s out to 1000 this past weekend and all intermediate ranges (100-1000). This is from an AIAW with UK barrel. They are running around 2900fps. and need about 1.4mils less elevation than my old 175s SMK along with a lot less windage. They shoot almost identical elevation as the .260s out to 500 yards (but with more wind). They are a big step up in performance over the 175s for the .308 and worked well in my AIAW. I get similar performance in group sizes as you at 100 with the 155s. They are worth using over the 175s, especially for tactical comps where you are dealing with a lot of unknown ranges.

I attempted some load development this weekend shooting the 155 Scenar and 178 Amax with various powder charges and to various seating depths. I hoped to find a single load my AI loved. I ended with at least 8 loads that all shot as well as each other. March on.

Yeah tom, i don't have your phones tapped, lol. Just talked with you guys at shot, as well as saw it mentioned on the internet a few times... didn't mean to let out a top secret :(

I'd love to order my 3rd AI... but I really want an AE in .223 or better yet .223AI.

I know we've had previous threads about this on SH and I've bugged Tom in PM's... but here's another reminder that there are still those of us out there who want an AE with a .223 bolt! :D

Here's a little update. Finished off the Amax's the other day so I was able to get the scenars zeroed in. First picture is of three shots, then an adjustment and one shot for confirmation. Second pic is three shots at 400yds. (1.5") Keep in mind that the mirage was absolutely awful and I left after shooting 400 because confirming dope for a new load in that mirage would have been pointless beyond 400. 85* and no wind will do that. I'll get her stretched out further later this week.

This thread gave me the "AI disease". Just sold my AICS, R700P, & Arsenal Saiga 12 to help with the purchase. $ will be in next week, then calling Milehigh to hookup ;)

Bad news: There's no cure.
Good news: Who cares, you're shooting an AI. :)

Thanks fellas! And manco, you will never regret that decision. I promise you that. I sold a custom r700 .308 and a semi-custom r700 .300wsm with.nf nxs. Both were great rifles and I don't regret it one bit.

Thanks Hypno,

I decided to pickup up an AI AW 6.5 CM from the Hides forum. Great deal + couldn't pass up. Decided to test out the Creedmor per discussion here. Still sitting on tons of 308. I'll probably send it off to GAP and rebarrel it...unless the Creedmor wins me over. Regardless, thanks for the posts :)
