I am looking to purchase another scope for my 223 tactical. I currently have three vortex viper pst's and would like to stay with mil mil. What are some good mil mil scopes for that price range?

Weaver GS Tactical 3-10x40.

$300 from Midway and tracks very well. I own two, one on a precision AR and another on a shorty 308.

I looked at that scope on midway. Only thing is this gun is really for my 11 year old daughter and she loves magnification. She has taken her little 223 out to 600 yards so I don't know if 10x is going to cut for her. It still may be a option

Vortex viper 6.5-20x44. $450 bucks at a local shop. Great scope for the money. 30mm tube and all

Leupold AR Mod 1 $450-500 at midway. 3x9, 4x12 mil/mil 1/10 adjustable turrets. Mine will be on its way in about a week :)

It might be stretching it a little but the Burris MTAC 4.5-14 is a sweet scope sub $500. Matching turret/matching reticle, nice wide FOV, solid optical system, and rugged.

Chris that Burris may be a option, but I would like to stay with exposed turrets. But it wouldn't be a deal breaker. Do you have any real world use with that scope?

I had a customer shoot with one while we were both at the K&M Basic Precision Rifle course. Tracks great, really easy to get behind. It's waterproof with the caps off. I don't remember seeing him put the caps on all weekend.

Just something I notice about the mk ar scopes.....its like looking through a coffee stirring straw.

That may not be good as she already has a hard enough time finding the target sometimes lol. Thanks for the help I will do a little more research on those burris

Chris, do you happen to know...does that burris have hash marks so you know how many times the turret has been yanked around?

Burris MTAC is pretty good. It's around $300 for the 1-4x.
I bought in for my dad and I'm pleased with it, although I mostly use Trijicon, Elcan, and EoTech

I have a mark AR Mod 1 4-12 on my CZ .223. I have not noticed the "coffee stirrer" issue. I like the scope, and it has seemingly good glass.

I think I'km just going to sell one of my complete lowers and buy another pst. They have been good to me so far. Thanks for all the help but just cant commit to a 400 scope and think I should have just spent a little more. Oh picture of my daughter's rifle.

I'm a bit surprised the SWFA SS didn't come up more...crazy good quality for the cost.

I don't remember to be honest, but I'll check on that tomorrow when I can put hands on the scope. I'm pretty sure it does tho.

Primary Arms 4-14x44 Mil/Mill FFP ~$250
https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary_Arms_4_14X44_FFP_Scope_p/pa4-14xffp.htm

I bought one to try out for my CZ455 PT and ended up ordering a second one to replace the SWFA fixed 10x on my R700 AAC-SD. I can't afford another HDMR and I was really impressed by the PA offering - enough so that I ditched the SWFA. Variable FFP scopes are just vastly more useful for me.

ETA: It has a 30MM tube and the side focus goes down to 10yds. Glass is (subjectively) every bit as clear as the SWFA 10x if not slightly better. Does not noticeably darken at max mag.

I think Midway has a BSA clone of the falcon menace 4-14 FFP hash mark reticle for $250. I have one on my .22 trainer, glass is decent and seems to track well, I've dialed it up and down to 300 meters and back to 25 yards. I'm planning on putting a couple more on my other .22 and .17 hmr.

by far if you had 1000 to spend i would tell you SWFA SS 10X fixed it is perfect and your good at 100 yards or 1000 for the money you will not find a better scope it is mill spec and you will not find better quality for the money i 100% love them best money i ever spent i would put it on a 4k rifle

10X is good at 1000 yards many people will tell you that but if you feel like you need more they have a 12X fixed also but i would not go higher than that withouth going HD then you will be out of you budget anyway but 12X you can get away with 15X will take you a mile

Yeah tell that to a 11 year girl and see what she says.

Please let us know how it tuns out. I have a 9 year daughter about to make the scope plunge and would like to hear your pros and cons as you go through it.

Chris@sportoptics has atleast one order sitting in his inbox (from me) due to this thread...Burris MTAC 3.5-10.

This.....Ive beat the hell out of my 1.5-4 and its always been true....lifetime warranty to boot. There not the best but Id buy another.

Burris MTAC Scope Sale MTAC Scopes

Constantly impressed with my MTAC 3.5-10x. For the price, the glass, turrets, and overall construction can't be beat. One of the best optics deals I have ever run across.

You guys sold it to me at an excellent price as well.
