Here is a sample of the latest download. I lost 4 days of footage because I ran out of memory on the camera's...

There is older footage on the youtube channel, but this is some of the better stuff, as I have been tweeking the camera location.

I'll be moving one of the camera's down to the feeder and salt lick area soon.

Finally a Hog on the camera and he's thick!

Hopefully he'll be on the wall, just hanging out this time next year.

The ranch is near Self's Texas, just south of Cado. You're quite a bit more east than me. It's roughly an hour from Dallas.

How you like your property?

Okay, I know where that is. I am liking the place a lot. We bought sixty acres out there and have had it a year. Not done too much hunting cause we were busy building a nice cabin and have recently been working on a pond, which is about four acres and was in the middle of the trees because that is where the natural valley was, finally done cutting trees and got the damn about 15 foot tall right now about another five feet to go lol. Going to set stands and start feeding in the next week or two, and after this month no more heavy equipment running till the end of season and hopefully we will get some meat this year.

What are your thoughts on the Plot Watcher camera?

Re: Looks like a good year for hunting in East Texas

I like them. The youtube video does not do them justice.

The last batteries had been in the camera for 2 month's and still were going strong.

The weak link is memory. I get 2weeks and 3 days on a 32gb card with dawn to dusk pictures every 5 seconds.

There are a ton of examples on my youtube channel, but again, the actual quality is much better.

I catch things on the camera that the Bushnell misses. The Bushnell works best by a feeder or in a choke point.

The plot watchers are best for open area. Hell if I had not moved it to where it is now, the dry lake, I would have never seen the 10(?) point deer that is in the picture. Plus I like the time, temp and humidity stamp. It makes it that much easier to pattern the deer.

Sounds like we are doing the same thing. You doing it yourself or contracting out? I've been doing it by myself and it is slow going!

Re: Looks like a good year for hunting in East Texas

Me my dad and brother are doing it all. We own Taylor Rental in Garland, Tx, so we got all the equipment and tools to do anything. Brought a bulldozer and some bobcats out to build the pond and a hydraulic tree shear so it makes it easier to cut all the trees down then we feed them through the chipper so there are not piles everywhere. Makes it nice having all the equipment but it is still a lot of work. We never could stand to pay someone else to do something for us lol. We built a nice 1300 sq cabin on pier and beam and did all phases of the construction. The nice thing is when you do it yourself you save a ton of money and it just makes everything that much better.

Walter,

Can you PM me your contact info? I have been planning on renting a skid steer with tree shears and would like to get you thoughts.

I have a hydraulic feed wood chipper and planned on doing the same...

Re: Looks like a good year for hunting in East Texas

Sent ya a PM. there is no better way to go than chipping the wood makes it all look a lot better and doesn't add any clutter to the land. I used my six inch chipper because anything bigger around than six inches we wanted to keep for firewood. But I also have a 12 inch chipper, which will take anything you can feed it.

Great looking deer for this early in the season and with the forage you have I bet you won't have to worry about him wondering off too far.
