So I haven't found Varget locally since January. In all honesty I haven't looked incredibly hard, just ever other week or so at my local haunts. Today I found that Bruno's shooting supply had quite a few 1 pounders in stock, so I grabbed one (payday is next week). Bruno's doesn't have their prices listed, so its a mystery until they ring you up....$34.99 for a pound.

I know, I know, free market and all, but it was a pretty good shock since the last time I bought varget from them it was $22.

But at least I have a pound to replenish what I shot last week. So....if you, like me, haven't seen Varget in awhile, Bruno's has some while supplies last, just be careful for the sticker shock.

Dont you have a Sportsmans Warehouse in Phoenix, the ones up here get small shipments of powder every week. Sure there has not been much Varget, but its a good time to try some other powders. I was able to get a large jug of RL15 and I am glad I did.

Last week there was about 12 pounds of IMR3031 sitting on the shelf for 3 days, guess folks did not realize you can load 308 and 223 with the stuff.

Bruno's is very pricey, but for some reason I keep finding myself in their little hole in the wall when I need something obscure.....

A local shop got in a mess of Accurate powders maybe 3 weeks ago. $34.99 per pound! I found the Manager who knows I have bought a lot of product from them for over 25 years. I told him I would buy 8 or 10 pounds of AAC powder but the price MUST be wrong.

As he was checking on the price I also mentioned....... "When this bullshit is over...and it WILL end...I will REMEMBER the vendors who shafted their Customers in order to make a few extra dollars". He dropped the powder to $26 a pound for me.

I know... I know..."Let the Market dictate the price"...and it's simply the "Supply and Demand" thing...BUT still! $35 a pound for powder that sold for $22 a few months back!!

Off the Soap Box before I fall off.

Natchez had 1 pound Varget limit 10 a couple of months ago. 10 pounds plus shipping and hazmat was $267.47. They are out of stock.

A couple of boards say that Bruno's is high priced.

Our local wallysworld usually has it at $27.99 a Lb. & I thought that was high, but seems its the right price from checking other stores that aren't over pricing the stuff.

Bass Rape Shops has been 28.99, 29.99 and now 30.99 per pound, for the past five years, so it's not always a 'panic/politics driven' pricing scheme.

Unless raw material costs have gone sky high, things should be at least 'status quo', as fuel prices, while still up there, have been pretty stable over the past year.

Last month, gas in Miami was the same price it was in July of '12, I heard the radio speaker tell me.

Anyhow, my local gun store can keep it stocked and make a buck at $24, up from $22 in 2012.

We do have Sportsman Warehouse but much like the difficulty of finding .22 ammo, powder is strikingly similar. I haven't found Varget at Sportsman's in a loooong time.

I know they get occasional shipments, but being there at the right time is tough, especially when the shipments get in in the morning.

Last time I was in bruno's i walked out $300 poorer after buying 5lbs of Varget and a 250ct box of Nosler CC 168's.

I'm surprised nobody has jumped on the BAT HRPIC they have in stock. I was very close several times to going up there and picking it up.

You were just negotiating, which is very much a part of a free market...

Cabelas had 8 pound jugs a few weeks ago, limit 2. Not cheap, at $200, but still cheaper 1 pound cans.
