So I just finished sorting 2500 .223 cases according to their brands. I have about seven different brands and I am planning on using some for run-and-gun plinking ammo and the better brass for match loads. Which brands would you use for RnG and which would you load for precision?

Here's what I have:
- Federal (FC), lots
- PMC, lots
- Fiocchi (GFL), lots,
- Remington (RP), some
- Lake City (LC), some
- Winchester (WCC), <100
- Hornady, <100
- Assorted junk brass

How would you rank these?

Federal-good while it lasts, it's soft and primer pockets get loose quickly, some on 3rd load for me
Pmc-RnG. many of the Pmc I have the flash holes are not centered
GFL-I got some from my pops but not enough to say if its good/bad, haven't loaded but seems ok
Remington-pretty good
LC-pretty good- this is what I have the most of and it's been great so far
Winchester-pretty good
Hornady-don't have much so I haven't loaded it

I appreciate your opinions on these. I think I'll probably load up my Federal first with my plinking bullets and see how it goes. Nothing to lose, right?

GFL will have the least capacity - good for a light bullet/ fast powder load
put the mixed brass of similar weight in with the PMC for a bulk/ mid distance load
deprime and weigh sort the FC - most will be right at 92 gr, use this for your best ammo ( usually gets the fewest cycles ) put the other weights with the mixed batch
find some local folks to trade brass, so you both get more consistent batches

Just traded into nearly 2K (by weight) of once fired PMC yesterday. Traded a guy some of my .40 S&W handloads for a big bag of .223 brass.
A timely post! I guess it's good enough for plinking ammo?
