I'm buying one of the Steiner 5-25X56 MSR redicle scopes. I read the reviews on here, and there is even a sticky here explaining the MSR Redicle which all sounds pretty awesome! I'm pretty excited to get it in soon. It was between one of these and a Schmidt and Bender... Which Steiner has a better warranty for sure. Both are German glass... I may down the road still get a S&B, but we will see how one of these works out first! Got an awesome deal on it too price wise so it was hard to pass up and made it the deciding factor.

Yep, hopefully it is as good as the hype says it is. I'm buying it unseen. I dont have a place near me to look at em... Shot in the dark here and hoping for the best!

I can't imagine you'll be disappointed.
My 5-25x56 is excellent optically and mechanically.
The illumination control is the best I've seen in placement and operation by a wide margin.

Good to hear! it's my first big purchase scope. I finally graduated to the level where its worth me buying a few.

I like mine - very pleased with the quality/value.
Optically, very close to the S&B which I also own in the same reticle.
The turrets on the Steiner are not quite as solid and tend to be easily moved - however, one comes back to the value discussion and you can have the Steiner and still keep more than $1000 in your pocket. Enjoy, it is nice glass

Do you have the new upgraded turrets?
If your scope is more than a few months old, it may have the original "mushy" turrets.

I believe Steiner is going to make the new turrets available as a no charge upgrade at some point.

This would make my day! Have owned since November of 2012 and yes, I would describe them as "mushy"....feels like one is pushing a spoon through mashed potatoes. Almost no "click".

Send a PM to the member Steiner Optics to inquire.

You have the older turrets. I hope to be able to upgrade those for you very soon, as in Jan. 2014

I've seen more Steiner 5-25s being bought than anything else lately. It seems every other thread someone is buying or wanting to buy one.

I love mine. It's become my second favorite scope of all time, and this has been put against the various Hensoldt, Nightforce and USO I've had. The only thing it doesn't beat out is my 1918 manufacturer date Zeiss Zielsechs.

I think they found the perfect mix of quality, the MSR reticle option and a more attractive street price even though the MSRP is about where the S&B is.

All - My original post above was forwarded to Steiner to which i received the following email today....Seems the turret upgrade might be a bit in the future still. I have not need to "replace" the scope, as it is a very niece piece of glass. Just a bit soft in the turrets. An upgrade, when available, will be nice - but hardly urgent.

Please note - Their offer to service this item before I could even ask for it - is OUTSTANDING customer service!

"Good Afternoon,

We don’t have any turret replacements. They have talked about that before but we have yet to have anything and I haven’t heard of anything else besides that. The only thing you can do is send us the scope for replacement. If you would like to send it in please print off the attached form, fill out and send in box with scope.

Thanks!
