Bad instructor at range

Who's or what regulations? Maybe WV is different, I don't know, but in Wyoming, any one can teach anyone to shoot. The instructor qualifications for CCW does have different qualifications, either a Certified LE instructor or any NRA instructor, or attend a Hunter Safety Course, but there is nothing that says what range to use, I could use my club's range, a public range, BLM land, or my back yard. Where ever its legal to shoot. Of course it should be a safe range, but that's common sense, not a law.
There are no "federal laws" covering CCW qualifications that I know of. The exception is the requirement for the LEOSA that does require Retired Officers to qualify via shooting a specific qualification course (either from the state the worked or where they reside). Judging by your post, that's not the case here.
I wasn't there, so I can't comment on the instructor, except to say I would have never allowed anyone who is not in the class to do any shooting. I do not allow any one not in the class in the area. The exception I have here, is if the student is under 18, I require one of his/her parents to be present.
So the other day some friends and I went to a public range so we could shoot our rifles without heading to Putnam county gun club. On our way in we spotted a group at the front of the park. I said it was probably a shooting class. We were probably there for about 2 hours so far the range had cleared out a bit. Here it be a group if cars come down the road and so my friends and I let him have a cleared range to set up his steel at about 15 feet away. Once that was done my friends an I shot our guns a bit as well as shooting the breeze. Soon he stated shooting the first thing that threw up red flags was he stepped past the firing line. We stopped shooting and just stared at him. Although now that I look back I should have called a cease fire but I was enjoying myself and I didn't want an argument or anything to raise my stress which I went out there to get to of it. Now, the thing that really really ticked me off. When he did his draw he shot as fast as he could from his glock only 4 rounds out of the magazine hit the steel. This arises my issue you now have new shooters who more than likely do not basic principles instilled in them. When what they should really been doing was getting their rounds on target then work up your speed. Working on your stance. Gauging a situation and what and how you are going to do something. The most I stepped in was my friend had hi glock 17 he just bought. He told me to show him up. Which my pistol abilities are much higher than my rifle most likely because I grew up more on pistols particularly the 1911. But onwards with the story. I walked up to him and asked if I could use his steel. He laughed and said "sure, can you hit it?" I dumped the whole mag as fast or faster than him with every round on target his laugh went away an he got serious and his class just stared at me. I turned and said thank you and he just shook his head. Now onto common Curtsy, professionalism he was smoking in front of his class I think I also over herd some curse words which were just a no in my book. So I went home and told my father about what happened. He informed me that if you don't have an law enforcement training license like he does it's against regulations for a basic license like instructors certified through NRA, it's against regulations for them to teach at public ranges for reasons just like this. I now regret not asking his name or stepping in for things he was teaching long because now you have new shooters who don't know the difference. Oh one last thing not everyone in his group shot. Which is also against federal law for ccl and ocl. The instructor needs to see that everyone is confident to shoot.
I wish I had one of my 1911 I would have started walking that steel backwards but at same time I'm glad I didn't so he couldn't claim it was the gun of he said anything.
This one is one I made for my brother I don't seem to have one of mine on my phone. Mine had bomars sights and is flat topped

I make no excuses for some of the fuckwits that have obtained the NRA Instructors Certification and are "teaching" thd basic handgun safety courses in WV (or other locales for that matter). They give the bulk of those who hold the certification and respect the duties with which they are charged as instructors a REALLY bad name (not to mention the responsible firearm-owning public as a whole). I try not to frequent public ranges unless absolutely necessary and most often, for having to put up with idiots like the one you are describing and worse.
Out of curiosity though, can you ask your LEO dad for a citation to the applicable portion of the WV State Code or Code of State Regs or other source for the "regs" that allegedly prohibit teaching of concealed handgun safety courses at public ranges by non-LEO instructors? Unless this is something new that I have not seen or some oddball, never seen nor enforced portion of the DNR "rules" (more "guidelines" than actual "rules"
) governing use of their "public" facilities, I think that this is an inaccurate reading/interpretation of WV law.

I do know, as with any other occupation, there are good and bad, you can't classify all civilian instructors as bad, nor can you classify all military and/or LE instructors are good.
I can see no reason why civilian, military or LE, cant teach classes at public ranges, they and their students are part of the public after all.

1. From what you wrote, this guy doesn't seem like a good instructor.
2. Common courtesy and professionalism do not include "showing" someone up in the middle of a firearms class. You should have notified the range safety officer.

Yeah the long translation was a bag for a women's hygiene product. Ironically, duschen (where I think douche comes from in America) is the German word for shower yet there is no real term for a douche like Americans would say and there is no direct word for a douche bag either so his made up word is actually quite usable/good.

Spanish also uses "ducha" for shower. But then again Mouselini was called Il Duce and he was a giant douche. So who really knows?

I have been instructing for over 20 years now and have trained many hundreds or so shooters with out and incident. I have seen my share of F ups from both sides of the isle Mil/LE and civilians. At Camp Perry there was a shooter that put his bolt rifle away and shot at round down the firing line next to me. Lucky for me I was putting my stuff away at the time. Never seen him again after that. I wonder who trained the 64 or so suspended LE who shot the couple in the car the male over 40 times and the female over 20 times in a running gun battle in the streets of a neighborhood?
